Exactly my thought I hear this very often The Player is a very decent Telecaster and everything you need Just like a Gibson studio or tribute is what you need in a Les paul Both guitars offer everything you need when you aspire such a guitar I own both A tribute with p90s and a Player Tele Both are great guitars in their own right Comment from : @marnix6801 |
Best ______"this one" after holding up another blue guitar brAlso, the comments about"too much" wiring tells me that you are not the marketing target for a modern guitar Comment from : @michaelgarner4200 |
I thought A and D best clean tone and B and D best distorted But whatever my ears said :) thanks for this great video! Comment from : @addedmusic4353 |
the beat telecaster is the one you have 👍 Comment from : @2000SkyView |
Landon has the Canadian Deadpan thing done to perfection He’s got the “best value” guitararomeo award on this interdweebnet thingy like… Comment from : @hmarkhorton8188 |
I feel like the pro II necks being the best (importantly - bigger) more than outweighs the very minor annoyance of the push-push knob being visibly in its out position The Pro II also has the superior pickups The Player II having less complicated wiring and a knob that doesn't pop out seems like a fairly bizarre reason to pick it over the obviously superior Pro IIbr(Yes, this is all my opinion, and if the interior wiring being too complicated is really important to you It's weird, but you do you) Comment from : @sagittated |
The Player II would be my choice It's the cheapest of the 5 with a rosewood fretboard I don't like the feel of varnished maple Comment from : @markvonwisco7369 |
Your "push-push" is "sticking out too far"? How is that a problem? Comment from : @squirelova1815 |
You forgot fender performer telecaster Comment from : @sonytaba694 |
They sounded very very similar Comment from : @pzolsky |
I went to Long and McQuade and played all the Tele's I could get my hands on The Player II is a great value and had the best neck IMHO I just fell in love with it I bought one in Birtch Green Thanks for the awesome comparison videos! Comment from : @russellhaley6901 |
I’m partial to the player series telecaster I know the bridge isn’t traditional but it is so much easier to accurately set up the intonation I also like the slightly slimmer neck profile and the price tag Comment from : @chitwoodbryan4HBVS |
similar comparisons all over the web I was looking for a first-time purchase of a telecaster to add to my guitar collection, in which I have some very nice guitars, upwards of 5K So I wasn't really wanting to spend a lot of money this time around The reviews for the CV 50 are quite good, and nobody really justified spending an extra $400 on the Fender Player; in other words what you gained between the 2 guitars really didn't justify the extra money I ended up with the CV 50 last week, and it sounds great to me, as a first telecaster And you're right about the pine, I chose one with a lot of character in the grain, butter scotch, and I wanted a lighter guitar, and mine comes in at 7 lbs 6 oz Thanks for the video! Comment from : @kerrfoot |
Betting on the one MIM, if there is one Comment from : @chrismonroe4855 |
you could swap that push push on the pro ii for an s1 that wouldn’t stick up Comment from : @NHail |
I have the classic vibe and I also have a mexican made Fender baja, and it turns out I like the classic vibe better, I dont know how they managed to make a guitar that sounds, looks and feels better than the baja model Comment from : @ederfxd7985 |
@landonbailey -The first level price point has changednow the first price point is made in indo about to $200 cheaper than mexican fenderlove to see you review them Comment from : @Jeremya74 |
I’d love to see a video on all the guitars you own Comment from : @kylerjr22 |
15:10 had to do a double take, could not believe my ears Comment from : @zipzak007 |
after listening to the audios E, C , A, in this order Comment from : @LX19M |
I was surprised I thought the ultra sounded the worst I actually picked D for the worst sounding one to my ears Comment from : @mjthethird1 |
Short of madness or having more money than sense, why would you spend $4K on a guitar? Comment from : @fumanpoo4725 |
Only listened up to the clean tones so far I dont think there is such a thing as which one sounds the best, At first listen I liked C & probably E, but second listen they all sound good, just slightly different I believe the real difference is in how it feels when you play it and that should reflect the price, but not alwayswill continue watching to see what C & E were Comment from : @jonanders76 |
C&E get my vote Comment from : @richardgregoryinstrumental6730 |
Personally, I'm going to go with a G&L ASAT over any of these Comment from : @bryper87 |
I like the Tele Comment from : @RyanMcQuen |
I played a Player II ($469) and an American Ultra ($2100) at GC The Player II felt better and played better The neck was so much better than the Ultra The only thing that stood out with the Ultra was the price Comment from : @altemose_prime |
Screw Sweetwater Comment from : @JasonReding |
I have that AmPro II Tele (same color) and can echo the sentiments on the neck It is my favorite of any guitar I've played Effortless and fun to spend hours noodling on Great comparisons I think in general you can't go wrong with any Tele, Squire or otherwise, just because they are so simple Comment from : @guitarhackr |
I picked C and E in the blind test as my favourites, wish it had been the two cheapest haha Comment from : @ryaneganaus |
Great sounds overall ❤ ,and I thought the last one was very very good 👍 ❤ I've got 6 of them, put a new maple 🍁 and abalone neck on one, bought from pawn shop $100 ! ❤Cheers 🍻 from 🇦🇺 👍 Australia 🇦🇺 💖 😊 Comment from : @paulschofield2630 |
The small differences in tone can easily be fixed with an EQ pedal, or amp effectsbrbrAlso it doesn't take any extra cost to make a pickup that's wound a bit more or a bit less or a magnet that's been fully charged or less charged And these are mainly responsible for the tone brbrWell I can see spending more than the classic vibe to ensure a good setup and fret level, I'm not sure why you would spend that much more Comment from : @AnnoyingCritic-is7rp |
Your opinions man you are such an ah Comment from : @sergioandreozzi |
Shame you didn’t have the MIM Roadworn That’s my pick Comment from : @HeartShapedBox93 |
I've got the American Pro II and love it But there was not a bad sound A-E Comment from : @flop2river471 |
Landon you said you didn't understand the car comparison , my custom guitars are my hot rods , but have my pretty ones also , people buy rat rods / relic , sports cars pretty / player , and luxury, white falcon , richenbecker , , I can't afford expensive cars , but luv my guitars , , now he just goes to bars and eats guitars ,, blondie Comment from : @jeremysummerrell8210 |
My favourite is the Telecaster Comment from : @egnbigdave |
Love my CV 50s Tele Pickups sound great to me Comment from : @danielkroha5440 |
Fender lite ash special edition made in Korea are awesome cheap and best Comment from : @samueleguglielmo-v3c |
I liked this video and your honesty, btw great guitars all of them, you earned a suscriber! Thanks Comment from : @robmr17 |
I got a player II butterscotch blonde which looked great but I found the pickups a bit bland also the frets were a bit chunkier than I'm used to and I found my fingers tripping on them wound up returning it and getting a used American pro II butterscotch blonde which I think has a more interesting tone not sure how to get that "quacky" country tele sound, though my GC only had one classic vibe guitar - those things are drenched in gloss but when you played A-E I thought A sounded good Comment from : @hartcons |
THAY ALL SOUND THE SAME Comment from : @chuckwolfboyer7830 |
5:08 - for me C, B D A, E As uou can see I do not need a custom shop Tele ;) Comment from : @blekfut5763 |
Hey Landon happy new year for you Comment from : @hank6429 |
C/D for clean and C/E for dirty Comment from : @McOuroborosBurger |
Been wanting a good tele Still can’t decide even after watching this Maybe…a lot of good deals happening with the higher end ones Congrats on the 100k Comment from : @maxandmoose |
I have a tele partscaster built on a warmoth roasted maple neck, beats any fender neck i've tried so far Standard thin compound radius with golden frets (to match the rest of the guitar) Body is awful though, and it's not blue, White and gold some people might argue it's blue and black 😂 Comment from : @DanLacroix |
Wow I thought the ultra sounded the worst!! Comment from : @ogPersonA |
I’m from venus and unfortunately Telecasters are pretty rare here The closest thing we’ve got on our planet Is called the whippersnapper by husker du guitars Maybe I will post a video review of my husker du classic 10’s whippersnapper In geonuke blue I like the way you earthlings make guitars Comment from : @Taylorcamp-y7t |
Fender player 2 Made in Ensenada no serial number found on fenders website ? Yes or no please ? Comment from : @JonRayRunawayVealMusic |
What, no Sparkle Telecaster? hmmm Comment from : @skateborg |
I have a CV Tele and for the prices, is an amazing workhorse guitar Just put some brass saddles and a tusq xl nut and you're good to go 😎 Comment from : @eliasarroyo4929 |
What about the American Performer? Comment from : @jasonjstdr |
I fully agree, the Player II would be the best value for a ready-for-stage player at a reasonable price Simpler than some of the others, but that's what a Telecaster should be in my opinion I have ordered one of the Player II's and cant wait to get her out there in the world Thanks for the video Comment from : @JohnRBooth |
Thanks for the video! Can you build a Relic or an Ultra for cheaper than what they cost from Fender? Looks like there's a lot more American Fender Necks available than before Comment from : @svenhaight477 |
All sound like Tele’sbrCan’t tell them apart Buy the cheapest it does the same job as all the restbrI have 10 CV’s five teles & five strats Comment from : @andrewcannon205 |
Unfortunately for my wallet, I preferred the Pro2 and Custom Shop in the blind tone challenge Comment from : @Chris-ic8os |
Hilarious - I liked both the Classic Vibe and the Custom Shop the best! (Sound Wise) Comment from : @ZEGO24x |
Congrats on reaching 100k I love Teles, I have 2 and always looking to add more, maybe an Ultra with the binding Comment from : @dinonoce |
Towards the end, his hands became so frozen, he was unable to manipulate utensils, and was dependent on cub scouts to feed him Comment from : @cmmnsenserules4339 |
For my taste the player ll has the best tone overall, following by E C D A guitars, and the best look the Ultra tele! Thanks Landon! ✌🏻😎 Comment from : @juniorgorini5963 |
A car has a radio for playing music Same thingDua Comment from : @charleshodge9327 |
Sweet Dead Pioneers shirt & great video! Comment from : @Fostext |
10:16 That's what she said Comment from : @meadish |
I preferred C for cleans and E for dirty I thought B sounded particularly flat for cleans The difference overall wasn't that great Comment from : @meadish |
Thank you for a good walkthrough! I'm planning to order a player 2 and you confirmed that I will probably be happy with it Comment from : @capricorndavid |
My pick is the Suhr Mateus Tele Comment from : @EJH-jn6mo |
Is there some Fender made in America ? Comment from : @ThePierrezx |
The $ 429 butterscotch is all I'd need Heck, I'm fine with a Monoprice TL and make music for under $ 100 Comment from : @jimcamp2423 |
The car thing, it's because they cost the same as used cars It's the same money, not product Comment from : @justinpridham7919 |
The classic Vibe How things are Tastes and needs For me, definitely from the first test, the tones I liked the most were A and E But I would really stick with A With it I would get my sound, even if I don't play anymore But the problem of the weight and apparently everything being bad about it, since it wasn't chosen at all, would make me think In any case, I wouldn't pay 4 or 5 thousand dollars for any guitar Comment from : @Seventysongs |
1st scratch on the immaculate Ultra vs 1st additional scratch on the relic custom shop Taking some fine paper to the neck on the classic vibe, some of the retro single coils, upgrade the ashtray Comment from : @thomasamos4055 |
D Comment from : @Pietblues |
I absolutely love my Pro 2 You're right about that push pull though Really annoying Other than that it's the best guitar I own I just bought a Squier Troublemaker Tele a couple weeks back Decent for £400 Comment from : @Deadhansome |
this was great, thank you Subscribed Comment from : @BobSperber |
I haven’t had a Telly for 20 years, a ‘70’s Today I played an Ultra & American Professional II — the ultra felt “sterile” and I just played and played the cheaper Pro II I liked the neck & p’ups better When I unload some guitars I’ll go shopping again Comment from : @BobSperber |
Cobra blue ultra would’ve been perfect without that binding 🙄 Comment from : @mewtmath2899 |
The Ultra is a really nice axe for the price and the only one on the list I would be interested in Comment from : @johnstillwell4353 |
(Comment started while watching for 1st time) Favorites: Clean tone, toss up between B and C Dirty tone, Guitar C was my favorite, Guitar E 2nd favorite That makes guitar C the winner for me I'll be interested to see which one it is! American Pro II takes it! I guess I'll have to try and pick up a used onelol Comment from : @EastCoastDave |
Actually, they truly all sound great Depending on what you like and can afford I woulds swat any of them away Comment from : @christophervincent8420 |
I like the more blue one more better, because more blue guitar is more good Seriously, the CV 59s looks the part, and sounds the part, but the weigh close to 10 lbs (454 kg) Comment from : @aitken1965 |
The yellow one sound we d the bestI could hear the yellow drippings from it's tone woodsPRS told me! Comment from : @JasonViator |
Nopeyellow Comment from : @JasonViator |
I also prefer the classic slot top tuners When I got my first one I couldn't believe the difference So most of my replacements are that type Love the stupid expensive Graphtech ratio classic The beefy exposed gears with string specific ratios Like butter, solid, beautiful , butter Comment from : @AJNpa80 |
I had the Squire classic vibe but ended up selling it My two issues is that the tuning stability was bad due to the tuning keys being junk and the neck/fretboard was so heavily lacquered that I could not get over itThis was the last Squire I will ever buy It pays to spend a little more to get out of the cheap range Comment from : @brivington2011 |
I would never buy a relic guitar, I try not to scratch my guitars But if I wanted that worn out look I would just neglect my new guitars I think to show up at a gig with a relic guitar is like wearing a long hair wig Who do you think you are fooling? Only dudes who are insecure would do that Comment from : @Derflz58 |
Guitars and cars are the same because they both have knobs 🤣 Comment from : @peterbayliss1484 |
I know no one would believe it but other than the ultra and custom being identical to me I nailed every single one Using good headphones it’s always easy Comment from : @SticksAandstonesBozo |
Try the Fender Telecaster FMT HH I just bought one today Comment from : @jerrodschumacher9844 |
My Classic Vibe Strat extra glossy and a little heavy like the Classic Vibe Tele but for me wasn't an issue Quality wise Classic Vibe solid as MIM Tele Comment from : @joeandreana2645 |
Play ability, man what about the playability telecast is a 19 USA it’s a lot different than the tone of any of those I have sweet water Comment from : @GregoryBoyce-w3i |
Do say squire is the same as a us telecaster your off my page Comment from : @GregoryBoyce-w3i |
The Classic Vibe will make you wonder why you spent so much on your Fender Awesome guitars Comment from : @Stratisfied22 |
