Thanks James, I enjoyed this review I've had a Niche for about 3 years and was wondering if it was worth upgrading I feel I am in that mid-tier which means I can only expect diminishing returns from this point on I am very tempted by the Zerno Z1 grinder, but considering you buy everything you review I don't think we will see a review soon (since it is hard to get one)

The tougher exchanged retention test would be to see if going from espresso to pour over grind setting has espresso grounds or excessive fines in the pour over I found with a lot of grinders there's an accumulation of fine particles from grinding for espresso stuck in the crevices, and when you start grinding coarser it also grinds faster and you have larger fragments of coffee that knocks the fine particle retention out So it's likely when that happens when you make that first pour over coffee (after coming from espresso setting) it's going to have a lot of fines and it's going to taste over extracted and bitter as a result
