PSA- I am reading all comments and taking the criticism and room for improvement seriously Thank you for the (mostly) tactful response! I'll be posting on my community board in the coming days a sort of dialogue style post to hone in this style of video that hits all your concerns brOf course, it will still be my opinion with all my inherent biases (remember- everyone has biases), so please continue to be aware of that It seems many have forgottenbrThanks for the support here and I'm genuinely keen to hear more areas this style could improve It's new territory for me and I now know it is super popular outside of Jeff Nippard (some have mentioned ranking super smash bros and other tier lists Will check them out to improve here!)brbrBrew something tasty, whether on an A tier or D tierbrbrMuch love! What do you think of Compact essential E5 grinder? Comment from : @iskanderimseeh2479 |
Nothing S tier? Comment from : @MIKExMASSACREx |
Single-dose should be reviewed separately from those with larger capacity Also, perhaps you could separate flat burrs from conical burr grinders Comment from : @jameswagner9894 |
Have you tested the Varia Vs6 Comment from : @SteveG-Sax-Bass |
Thank you Lance! I'm brand new to espresso coffee and this has helped me with my search for my first electric grinder Comment from : @GlennRichardson |
Regarding the Eureka Specialitá Why can’t it do filter coffee? Sure, because of the dial it’s a hassle to switch between filter and espresso but why can’t it do filter? Comment from : @jvdp33 |
So whats better than a x54 for the price? Comment from : @eyohboy455 |
Lance Hendrick is a GAH Dayum American Hero son Comment from : @Bromo_Sexual |

How about the xbloom grinder? Comment from : @lung21 |
What would u give the df54? Comment from : @IIIxwaveIII |
Lance, I know this video was awhile ago, but can you please explain why you gave the SD40 a C grade? You had only good things to say about it, comparing it favorably to the Niche in performance, you said you were considering price and at $185 it’s one of the cheapest on the list…it just doesn’t add up? Comment from : @dangahagan7645 |
I think your Tier List is amazing By the way if yo look at most Tier list's like Audiophile ones they always take price in consideration I would not change that for future list's, remember you will never please everyone However, this is just my opinion Comment from : @Wasur1959 |
Awesome video, super helpful Lance (newbie to the home espresso world) Comment from : @Rob-w5p |
What about the Eureka Atom 75 Comment from : @guillermomartin8248 |
Nearly four years in with a Niche Zero, zero issues Used 2-4 times every day for bright-roasted beans Workflow with the addition of a €10 bellows is without fault When it comes to taste that’s obviously subjective Comment from : @Nunga08 |
Miss the Lagom P64 in your comparison Comment from : @MartinFeigenwinter |
DF54? Comment from : @NoneOneNone12345 |
Ah man, missed the DF54 a lot on here - seems (to me) to be one of the best options at the price range, for sure Comment from : @frederikpedersen4396 |
Couldnt disagree more about the niche ZERO I've had 2x EK43s and in the cup the Niche Zero does just as well The conical burrs are epic for espresso Thats why the Mazzer Robur was the titan of grinders for so many years running Comment from : @slippyg |
No Df54!? Comment from : @greatmaddyave |
niche zero definitely still higher than a C Comment from : @jameswill5522 |
Tier list by price category Comment from : @solomoe2 |
What about the Rocket Fausto Touch? Comment from : @dwaaziwaazi |
I had a 50mm Eureka Mignon Manuale (Specialita is 55mm) and “downgraded” to the SD40 Best decision ever Espresso packs more punch than the Eureka, and - you’re right - acidity is much more pleasantbrbrHaven’t tried filter though, I don’t think I will 😂 Comment from : @haziqshams |
Taste ? I need taste only Comment from : @khalifaalbashr9422 |
Hello Lance!!brbrWhich of these would you pick for espresso only To pair with a La Marzocco Micra brbrTHanks! great video Comment from : @juandanielmoralesarias2695 |
Hi, I appreciate every video of yours and today I became a follower of the channel!brI wanted to ask you about electric coffee grinders for espresso in devices such as Wacaco, Staresso, Rok, etcbrbrIdeal that are recommendations in budget since I'm just getting into this worldbrI follow you from Costa Rica Pura vida! Comment from : @brunescocba |
At the end turin did listen and made the CF64, it's ugly af but has the same augur design as timemore sculptor, right? Comment from : @hittemni |
I guess considering nothing got into S tier that makes B tier pretty good lol Comment from : @ky0611 |
Enjoyed the video but the price range should be divided up because falling in love with a machine that my wife would divorce me over is heartbreaking Maybe do segments within a $500 range increments? Comment from : @gregb2705 |
This is without a doubt one of your best videos It is an extremely useful guide Thanks Comment from : @tlhuffman |

What would be a better setup; DF64Gen 2 with SSP HU burrs or a DF83V with stock espresso burrs? Would love some recommendations Thanks in advance Comment from : @cayero |

cant decide between the timemore 64s and the Turin DF 83V for light roast espresso any inputs? Comment from : @bowstobourbon |
is there a link to download Excel of the data? 🙏🏻 Comment from : @timair |
@lance hedrickbr really like the tier list system, even better having access to the Excel afterwards so audience can see your scores but rank (potentially differently) or filter (no pun intended) based on their own priorities or preferences Comment from : @timair |
I guess it wasn't out yet but looking forward to a review of the newer CF64V (in the DF line but with variable speed and a better asthetic) Comment from : @Cinnabuns2009 |
All positive things are to be said on you and your work This one is another great production and I appreciate it very much Comment from : @ea5437 |
Love to see this video but specifically in the $600 to $1200 range Comment from : @pierat7 |
Damn, hate seeing your 'C' score for my new DF64 V Hoping it will provide me more options on my Meraki due in January! Comment from : @stephenwilliams4406 |
Well done! Thanks for the timestamps!brHave you tested the Option-o Lagom P64? Comment from : @maartenmampaey8929 |
I was holding out to find out how the Weber Key fits into this I guess the WUG would kind of slot above it in terms of flexibility?brCurrently running a Fellow Ode 1st gen and kinda wanna do the occasional espresso at home With the burr upgrade could I? Comment from : @weatheranddarkness |

Should I care about the Niche Zero getting a C? I bought it when covid started, only use it for espresso on the weekends and cant care enough to sell it to get something of a higher tier Comment from : @daftsapien |
@Lance Hedrick Varia VS-6 vs DF83 V? Comment from : @kenroman777 |
Lost it fast I have had 3 Varios, no one were up to task with overpriced flexy rubbery plaastics construction, burning electrix and sound of dying swan I stil have 2, another as smelly parts and another can just and just grind for mokapot without stalling And yes, the customer service, here in Europe, ha! Great joke Comment from : @OKuusava |
Yes please for lever machines Comment from : @billweaver2549 |
I'd like to know Lance's views on the La Pavoni grinders, especially the Cilindro ☕ Comment from : @davidhedley1225 |

I just bought a barratza encore ESP based on this video Thank you for the great content! My concern with it so far is that it seems like there is a ton of static and it makes for a very messy experience Is this a common issue? It makes me think about returning it currently Thanks for your help! Comment from : @danielfoley8424 |
This is a great video (series), a 2024 budget friendly espresso machine would be pretty awesome, boiler vs thermal lock or other heating systems Comment from : @iPAINTCODE |
thoughts on philos? Comment from : @asakurayo1985 |
Awesome video! Love the idea of comparing grinders a long side expresso machines, as you mentioned greater and less than 2k brbrGoing off of some of the other comments, yes everyone has bias and even novices and beginners are capable of doing their own research and making their own decisions when it comes to buying a grinder Comment from : @Dougal1530 |
Hey can you review the hibrew g5 grinder, could it be a hidden gem😕 ? Comment from : @abdullahmohammed915 |
A really excellent video You talk so well and it's easy to follow Not just sterile ranking but your frank bias and opinions thrown in add greatly Because I'm listening and working at the same time I would like a caption of the machine you are talking about on screen the whole time you are discussing it, so I can glance over and see Even better a picture in the corner of what it looks like Comment from : @narrowneck123 |
Im here for your gym area, love seeing you talk about jeff and wearing a whoop haha Great work lance Comment from : @julianfbeck |
I wonder how these compare to the integrated grinder of my Sage/Breville Oracle Touch My shots are pretty inconsistent, with time I got a feeling for it, but still annoying It depends on how full the hopper is, how many doses I grind in a row, how long the machine was waiting while being on (probably heat going from boiler to grinder), etc If I pull 6 shots in a row, the output ml with the same grind setting and shot time can vary from 30ml to 60ml Would that be completely fixed with one of these good grinders or is it maybe just maginally better? Comment from : @kulimeya123 |
Turin SD40 or Kingrinder K6, I really need you help! Comment from : @onemoretouch8926 |
Tremendous video! Really loved itbrTry to bind it with a date in the title I really hope you'll be able to do that on a yearly basis! 😊 Comment from : @RomainLussier |

Sad my Ceado E37s is not on the list Comment from : @leonardmilcin7798 |
Hi Lance, I'd love to get a side-by-side comparison between the DF 83V and the Mazzer Philos They are pretty similar with minor differences and the price point is also quite close This is a very competitive setup The build quality is reported to be better on the Mazzer Philos, but it lacks the variable speed control and the burrs are 64 vs 83 I'm torn between them as to my first (but long lasting, precise and flexible) grinder I do not mind tinkering and testing different burrs, but would look for something that is possible to be updated to my needs in time brThe Mazzer looks super well build but it has a single speed motor (1400 rpm) and 400W The distance setting seems to be better on the Mazzer but there is more power on the DF83V and I could experiment with speed as wellbrI'd love to know, is there a big difference and is it worth going for the variable speed on the DF83V or have the 1400rpm setting and tweek other parameters :) Comment from : @dariosarti2791 |
Do you like the Timemore 064S better than the 078s specifically for espresso only?? Comment from : @ImTKyouknowme |
