iI prefer the bisons/buffaloes; Gold Buffalo coins have a higher purity at 9999 (241-karat) compared to Gold Eagles, which are 9167 pure (22-karat) Although both coins contain the same amount of pure gold (1 troy ounce), Gold Buffaloes are often more appealing to investors seeking higher-purity bullion/ibrbriFor example, if you're purchasing 10 coins, each containing 1 troy ounce of gold, both Buffaloes and Eagles have an equal gold content of 10 troy ounces However, Buffaloes are more easily recognizable for their purity worldwide, which can increase liquidity and demand in certain markets Therefore, while both options provide the same raw gold value, Gold Buffaloes may fetch higher premiums, especially in purity-conscious markets, making them a potentially stronger strategic investment over time/i Comment from : @MINDSPARK-u6e |

I have many kinds of coins foreign and domestic, im in the US so now im only interested in US mint because i want to pwn whats easiest to cash in to pay a bill I think the easiest way to cash out is to own what is local Comment from : @johnpower8356 |
Both are good But pure is always better The eagle is still one ounce of pure gold, just has copper and silver added to it Comment from : @FromAmericaToJapan |
After you have been stacking for a while, it just comes down to personal preference The mint put out the buffalos to satisfy the purists, but the eagles should be worth a little bit more from the added weight and cost of the silver I don't think anyone is going to melt their buffalos down for the 9999 at this stage Comment from : @tomsullivan-kc4fb |
Buy the buffaloes Before the political weirdos decide it isn't 'correct' and they quit making them We'll get a tranny on the next coin🙄 Comment from : @john-ze7eu |
Common Speg one coin contains more precious metal than the other didn't even mention that! 😂😂😂 Comment from : @MRkriegs |
An ounce (of gold) in both Only a smelter could care I guess For the rest of us; brAn ounce is an ounce- so either you pounce Comment from : @joecavy7869 |
The eagle does not trigger a reporting form when sold vs the buffalo Comment from : @Somethingauthentic4u |
Why is the Buffalo significantly more expensive than the Maple Leaf? Comment from : @yelnatsch517 |
I have a couple of older Gold Eagles but since it has been Buffaloes with a couple Maple Leafs and a Britannia For fractionals I do Britannias and Maple Leafs brThe reason I stopped is what you mentioned; the purity which affects the color If I buy gold for value holders I want 999 at least I know the gold content is the same as stated but the 22k gold just has the wrong color It isn't as pleasing to the eye if you know what I mean 😉😉😉👍🖖brToday, 19 Sept, 2022 the gold ask price $1,685 Buffaloes, I see some on our favorite dependable site for $1,823 Gold Eagles are 1,862 Comment from : @ut000bs |
Considering the premium why not just stack the maple leaf? Comment from : @daxmonster3429 |
I just bought 2 buffs a couple of days ago Comment from : @chef3269 |
I had already came to the same conclusion as you have with the Eagles and the Buffaloes Comment from : @johns5731 |
I've personally always preferred the Buffalo to the Eagle by far 👍 Comment from : @elitefitness341 |
Some people stack partially for when the SHF, in which case a more durable coin is better for regular currency needs Comment from : @robertbarnum7541 |
No fractionally makes me an Eagle buyer Comment from : @edwardl4747 |
was just about to point out the Maple Leaf being 9999 gold, and they also have a security feature That feature is pretty useless though as no one seems to have the device to check the coins, even places that are listed on the RCM site Comment from : @cowanthegreat8966 |
Diluting it? How about making it more durable! Comment from : @jpdurr |
Your opinion is just that, yours I will continue to stack Eagles Comment from : @jpdurr |
Want to buy a Fractional Gold Coin, good Luck trying to buy fractional Buffalos Comment from : @jpdurr |
The Numbers don't lie Buffalos sell only a fraction of the quantity of Eagles The Market has Spoken! Comment from : @jpdurr |
Because the Gold Eagle is the superior coin in all manners of fact Buffalos are for Loosers Comment from : @jpdurr |
Why do they not make fractional buffalos I know they did a year or two but it makes no sense to not Comment from : @navyvet3660 |
Hey Speg! Why don't you do an analysis of proof eagles versus business grade? Are extra shiny coins worth the extra price? Comment from : @wfermier |
I can’t afford a full once at one time or it would be the buffaloes Comment from : @noicue8078 |
The point numero uno would be that there’s overall one ounce of gold The eagle has also the tax advantage here in the US The melt price would be the same all things being equal but of course this are coins, personally I like them both Would buy the cheaper Comment from : @borisbuliak3626 |
both are 1ozt of gold in the end that's why I go with whichever is cheaper at the time of buying I don't even bother with purity as long as its 1ozt its good enough for me in bullion Comment from : @David_Quinn1995 |
I'm surprised actually that a lot of people don't know Eagles are alloyed Why they are this way is really just a throwback to not only pre-33 coins, but also the English Crown They were alloyed to make them hardier for "circulation" Obviously Gold Eagles are NIFC but they kept the "Crown" formulabrbrI do like the gold Buffalo's morebrbrWhat bI/b would really love to see is the Silver Buffalo's come back (as 999 instead of 900)brbrEveryone and their brother makes a generic Buffalo round and people eat them upbrbrA real silver buffalo like the 2001's would definitely be a big seller Comment from : @greyshadow9498 |
I always love watching your channel Comment from : @dianethomas8717 |
i will buy 24K pure gold buffalo as compared to AGE 22K Comment from : @viperviperpiro |
I used to stack gold until the discovered bitcoin Bitcoin is a better money than gold Comment from : @covidisascam4556 |
If you take care of your precious metals, why would you prefer to purchase the 22kt AGE over 24kt Buffalo? Personally, I think the Buffalo coin design is one of the finest the US Mint has ever produced Comment from : @emeraldcoastbullion |
The premiums are basically the same Philharmonics or Brits are cheaper and 24k 😎 Comment from : @artvandelay2591 |
Dude, it's called spoofing, I thought you knew THE GOLD BUFFALO 'S will continue to be the top gold coin we will see minted by the USA They should bring back the fractional buffaloes, I'd purchase those in front of eagle too Great video 👍 Comment from : @richpederson6691 |
I would definitely go with the Buffalo Wish they still did fractional Comment from : @B29p |
I like both, but have noticed the samethe Buffalo is cheaper and Ill take that! Comment from : @72cmcinc |
Krugerrand Comment from : @marksartain5772 |
Yeah if the Buffalo is cheap right now, I say go for it!br🔥🦈🌊 Comment from : @SilverOceans |
Buffalos dent easy Comment from : @marksartain5772 |
Noooo WAYYYY!!! That's just too HARD to believe What a cluster mess, lol 😂 Comment from : @onrycodger |
I would really like to see the US Mint try a new design, obverse and reverse, for bullion coins instead of resting on the laurels of coins past The Walking Liberty is the most graceful of all coins, though, imo Understandable as to why that design was resurrected for the ASE obverse Comment from : @38wheat40 |
Cheers Comment from : @KCTShark |
I don’t think of either Last gold I bought (which just shipped today) is a Britannia Comment from : @tomtharos4440 |
Have always alternated between Eagles and Buffalos going to focus more on the Bisen now that Brian sells it for one point less Thanks Speg! Comment from : @silverstacktician5065 |
I would go for the buffalo, because it’s pure No need to harden the gold Eagle as they are not used for every day circulation - hard to teach old dogs new tricks! 👍😀 Comment from : @Seven-Seven-77 |
I've seen the same thing I love buffalos, can't afford anything right now which is a shame but it's how it is Comment from : @lindab2062 |
Buffalos went down a percentage point (found it) Comment from : @507roberta |
Buffalo gold all day every day 💰 Comment from : @fastfreddie6388 |
I have Am Eagles, a Buffalo and now, I'm stacking both gold and silver Britannias Comment from : @roadtested9009 |
gold buffalo's for me beautiful coin thumbs up Comment from : @silita6193 |
Sounds like a good deal right there Comment from : @MCC4RTHY1 |
Pure Gold means pure dings means not so pure buyback prices! Comment from : @melbedewy |
I have piles of gold eagles and glad I bought them Comment from : @buyystocks |
Don’t they both have the same gold total? Even if they weigh different/have a different gold percentage at the end of the day it is still 1oz of gold both ways? In that case, sounds like me to go with whichever is cheaper at the time Comment from : @spartonsfan911 |
The Buffalo is a gorgeous piece I don’t usually purchase 1oz gold I tend to wait for deals locally on fractional gold close to spot I do however prefer pure gold so if I had to choose between the 2 I would go for the Buffalo The only non pure gold I really purchase is if I find a very good deal on pre33 I would scoop some 1/10th eagles if close to spot though I primarily focus on silver, but if I find a screaming deal on gold I will get it Comment from : @silversupplement |
The gold eagles contain 1 oz of gold, same as the buffalos The additional metal is copper and silver, which means the eagles weigh more than the buffalos That might explain the price difference The higher durability of the eagles is, IMO, a non issue as nobody is carrying these coins around in their pocket change Having said all that I personally prefer the buffalos Comment from : @douglaswilliams6834 |
Buffalo Gold 999 pure 1 ounce, I just got a beautiful Britannia Gold 1 ouncer Comment from : @kendallkidd3893 |
BuffaloEagle??? I'm more impressed with that table holding ALL that goldIKEAWalmart??? Comment from : @kscoins4787 |
I like the new design on the eagles but I won't buy an eagle when I can get a buffalo for the same price or less Comment from : @TheQuickSilver101 |
Pure Gold is not taxed here in Canada so I buy Buffalos instead of paying thirteen percent tax for the Eagle ! Comment from : @percys9427 |
The U S Mint has always ripped you off like l have always believed an ounce of silver & gold regardless of what is squished on it end of dilemma…? Comment from : @larryhanshew5173 |
If Buffalo came in fractional, I wouldn't even think about AGE's Comment from : @firstlast-mi2pj |
I usually buy neither, except for a few fractional Eaglesbr Maples and Brits are a much prettier coin IMO, and carry $40-$55 less premium for the same amount of gold, so these are my 1 ounce stacking choice Comment from : @Robnord1 |
They are both beautiful coins I think you just go with the best value…which usually correlated with the lowest premium A steady diet of both seems like a balanced approach Comment from : @weeklybullion |
Well me i live in greece the most popular gold is the gold sovereign Comment from : @stamosgemes8653 |
Your right Buffalo is 6 dollars cheaper right now on SD Bullion Comment from : @chiaking2787 |
You're right it's odd that the Buffalo is cheaperbrI only have a 1/10 oz gold Eagle, and I want a 1 oz AGE at some time in the futurebrI have no gold Buffalosbr Gold is not on my list for the foreseeable future Comment from : @piecesofeight |
I have all the gold 1 OZ except the buffalo, and I really want one but cannot find any up here in Canada Comment from : @stevelauda5435 |
Sitting outside my local coin shop to go get my August gold challenge Comment from : @Th3DavidPugh |
Buffaloes are currently $15 cheaper than Eagles on SD Bullion Comment from : @IMDunn-oy9cd |
I'm hoping one day to add the reverse proof gold buffalo and the reverse proof gold eagle to my collection Comment from : @robertstroback3362 |
The Eagle is definitely gold, but it's not FINE Gold Comment from : @CyrusOfNaias |
For me, the answer is simple If my state shuts down, there's a good chance I'll be on the road Although the Buffalo is 9999, the Eagle is more durable In troubled times the mixed coins are always the better option Comment from : @mauriceorayii2964 |
I really do not care because I prefer buying fractional gold Fractional gold is much more practical and more liquid when you sell it Comment from : @kevinw9073 |
Glad the first bullion I ever bought was the Gold Buffaloes!!! Comment from : @Desizgirl3 |
I'd say some of it has to do with the facts you can buy smaller eagles meaning they can have more of 1 coin the eagles have several sizes for me I can only afford 1/10 oz per month but I am saving a bit more to be able to buy a Buffalo I guess it's difficult to say one way or another but I do agree the Buffalo is a beautiful piece good day gents Comment from : @codyfarley3510 |
If only modern designer's made coins as beautiful as those from Teddy Roosevelt's time!!! Now those folks designed some gorgeous coins guess that's why the current group "borrows" them for current coins! Comment from : @jimthompson9992 |
Another reason … 60 of the world market is for 24K gold Comment from : @LuckysMotorcycles |
I have always thought the Buffalo was the sharper looking coin Comment from : @erickisel8668 |
In a way if you think about it The Eagles may not be a true gold coin 🧐 Comment from : @mandoperthstacker |
I think tax is added to the Eagles in my country cus it isn't pure So I would pick Buffalo, and it looks like the colour of my country's pure products so my eyes are more comfortable with them The Eagles would stick out like a sore thumb with that tinge Comment from : @mandoperthstacker |
I think the gold buffaloes are ugly and especially the type two Gold Eagles give me the type one older Eagles any day Big Bird head with a pronounced eyeball Who the hell at the mint thought that the type 2 looks better than the type one? Comment from : @davidwatson7919 |
If they made available fractional gold buffalo's I would buy more of them Comment from : @RubberCityRebel |
The 2022 gold eagles they stopped producing them to do there models and other stuff so there will be lower mintage for gold eagles this year Comment from : @sunshinestacker5235 |
I buy the gold Kangaroo, less premium than either the Eagle or Buffalo Also, the Kangaroo is not subject to the 1099 requirement when sellingbrJust me Comment from : @6handicap604 |
Only gold coins i buy Buffalos should come in 1/4 oz tho Comment from : @alejandrogonzalez4086 |
Good video and info Comment from : @SilverScorpion |
Buffalos Comment from : @azwelke2638 |
I like the buffalo better for sure! Comment from : @jesseshepherd2061 |
I wish I could afford either one, got to stick with silver for now Comment from : @markb7642 |
