Sounds like a legit method to me Consider engaging as many diverse senses as possible by having some background music, scent candles, etc These are just details ofc but anything that may help memory

I’m finding that the subtitles in the target language don’t always exactly match the audio because they both translate a little different, but it’s still helpful I’m learning French and Disney movies are fun for me (and have a lot of language options)

Thanks for this!! I have been learning the Tagalog language for about 7 months now, and I have been able to pick up words and grammar here and there but i have ADHD so its hard to make vocab stick haha so I havent been able to understand much when listening to people speak especially since Filipinos speak massively fast 🤣 This is a fantastic method to try and I am going to try it with some Filipino vlogs! People always say Tagalog is a dying language since english is a second language in the PH, but I’m learning it anyway cuz it connects me to the culture and people, which I absolutely adore

Maybe you should answer the question, WHY, learn these languages? Given that in many of these countries foreigners will always be second class, what is the point? To do what? To have a penpal? Maybe that's cool for kids But rather invest in things which matter to your career unless being an interpreter is your career choice or you collaborate with people in these countries But otherwise given the rather insular nature of many of these places, why bother? You'll never be accepted

In step number 4 on sub step number 5 (repeat 3x) Just to clarify, do you repeat all the sub steps 3 times, ie listen while reading, look up unknowns, speak aloud, hand write by copying, bror do you just repeat the hand write by copying, step, 3 times?

Hi Christian, great video, thanks I do something similar in Italian English has an expression, An apple a day keeps the doctor away In Italian, the 4 methods of communication are Ascoltare, Parlare, Leggere, Scrivere, or, APLS My slight difference is that after I listen and write what I heard, I read the content out loud, thus doing all 4 methods Tom

The thing I'm struggling with is finding content with the useful information that pertains to my life I am a stay at home mom with young kids I am learning Spanish in order to help teach them Spanish But I haven't found anything that is family oriented Something with conversations between parents and children

Hi, thanks for the nice tips Just wondering if you would do these steps even if you are at a very basic level I'm asking because especially the fourth step sounds a bit hard If you are a beginner, there would be tons of unknown words, and if you stop the video and check each word's meaning every time, it would take forever to watch, say, entire series or even just one video Any thoughts or advice on that?

You say that all four skills are used here, but I would argue that speaking is used here, because speaking involves thinking about how to construct a sentence, not just repeating what you've heard or reading aloud what's written For the skill of speaking, I think the best thing people have come up with is the Michel Thomas method, which at the same time is also the best method for starting to learn any language
