This is some really valuable information, thank you for sharing I'll apply it and check back in Currently learning 3 languages - Spanish, Italian, German, and trying out different methods :) Comment from : @Lucid_Lucia |

Interesting! I'm definitely going to try these excercises with Korean, at any rate I feel like I learn more from watching kdramas than I do from a textbook setting, even with only english captions, so this should be fun! Comment from : @thecrimsonace3032 |

5 stars, this works TriedThank you Comment from : @seniorbytes4511 |

I dropped in on this channel very reluctantly Very reluctantly!brAnd boy am I glad I did!brI can see that even if I disagreed on the specifics, there are a lot of questions that I have for which you have provided a strategybrI learned French in the most haphazard way possible, and I am including in school, so I recognize the utility of your solutionsbrAny recommendations for sources in Portuguese? Comment from : @antonomaseapophasis5142 |

I’m finding that the subtitles in the target language don’t always exactly match the audio because they both translate a little different, but it’s still helpful I’m learning French and Disney movies are fun for me (and have a lot of language options) Comment from : @Laughwithmecrywithme |
So how long did it take to learn the language this way ? It seems very tedious indeed… did you have to to watch one episode several times ? Comment from : @karolinakarolina421 |
This is all very good way and definitely effective but it must be very tedious Comment from : @karolinakarolina421 |
What a coincidence, I was just thinking about repetition in language learning as it has always been the essential and prominent factor when it comes to learning languages, and you also emphasised upon it, clearly you know your stuff Keep going brother Comment from : @User86i86 |

Captions are frequently loosely based on the dialog How do you know when your captions aren’t exact translations of what you’re hearing and do you deal with that as a learning tool? Comment from : @davidmil15 |
if I were to skip to step four and repeat that for a while with no real experience in the language, would that be a bad idea? Comment from : @Rasgharven |
Thanks for this!! I have been learning the Tagalog language for about 7 months now, and I have been able to pick up words and grammar here and there but i have ADHD so its hard to make vocab stick haha so I havent been able to understand much when listening to people speak especially since Filipinos speak massively fast 🤣 This is a fantastic method to try and I am going to try it with some Filipino vlogs! People always say Tagalog is a dying language since english is a second language in the PH, but I’m learning it anyway cuz it connects me to the culture and people, which I absolutely adore Comment from : @Asholotl_ |
Ive been wanting to rewatch attack on titan for a while now its time to find a german dub and try this out lol Comment from : @algirdasltu1389 |

Maybe you should answer the question, WHY, learn these languages? Given that in many of these countries foreigners will always be second class, what is the point? To do what? To have a penpal? Maybe that's cool for kids But rather invest in things which matter to your career unless being an interpreter is your career choice or you collaborate with people in these countries But otherwise given the rather insular nature of many of these places, why bother? You'll never be accepted Comment from : @peterc4082 |
In step number 4 on sub step number 5 (repeat 3x) Just to clarify, do you repeat all the sub steps 3 times, ie listen while reading, look up unknowns, speak aloud, hand write by copying, bror do you just repeat the hand write by copying, step, 3 times? Comment from : @soulextracter |

Hi Christian, great video, thanks I do something similar in Italian English has an expression, An apple a day keeps the doctor away In Italian, the 4 methods of communication are Ascoltare, Parlare, Leggere, Scrivere, or, APLS My slight difference is that after I listen and write what I heard, I read the content out loud, thus doing all 4 methods Tom Comment from : @tommanion3190 |

This is assuming that the captions are correctbrHow do we know if what we’re watching has correct captions? Comment from : @alexdsr1 |
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Learning a language can feel like such a challenge, but also found a tool that made it feel much more natural Belikenative is a game-changer! With its translation feature supporting over 80 languages, I was able to practice real-world conversations and instantly see how words and phrases fit into different contexts It’s helped me learn faster and more naturally, like I’m actually speaking the language daily Highly recommend it for anyone wanting to take their language learning to the next level! Comment from : @SamwelJabez |
I think this is great, but I do find that the captions don't always match the words being spoken Comment from : @shakirawilliams4844 |
This video is perfect, every step is better than the previous one Thanks! Comment from : @GRAYWOLF232 |
Should I do all the steps in one study session or break it up over a few days Is it still effective? Comment from : @son_o_day |
Can I ask though Let’s say you chose a show to learn the language with many episodes, or even 2-3 seasonsbrbrHow much of this should you watch with captions before starting from the beginning without captions? One episode at a time? Or an entire season? Or the entire show? Comment from : @Adam-yu5zj |
Thank you Trying to learn Italian Looking forward to trying this method Comment from : @marygregus3755 |
Media can be songs as long as I have the captions right? Comment from : @MarieLing12 |
If you want to watch a show, would you recommend to follow al 7 steps after every episode? or is it better only to go to the next step after you finish the season? Comment from : @banaaneetdaan1805 |
How long should each step be done as well? Comment from : @re0019 |

I have wasted time on way too many "learn languages easy!" videos But this is a good one, not a waste of time at all Your focus on keeping up motivation by enjoying what you're doing and rewarding yourself is ESSENTIAL! Comment from : @mayanightstar |

Hey dude, what if my native language don't have this captions or that content don't have? Comment from : @Ncat_tengri-karakychkach |
Good but step 4 can't be done with the source from steps1-3 unless the media has captions in L1 and L2 Comment from : @brianvelasco3429 |
Great advice! The thing I'm struggling with is finding content with the useful information that pertains to my life I am a stay at home mom with young kids I am learning Spanish in order to help teach them Spanish But I haven't found anything that is family oriented Something with conversations between parents and children Comment from : @pricelesswildlife1404 |

such a great video with that technic is basically how i learned English without knowing (hyperfixation with the hunger games lol) but couldn't replicate it with german since i didn't remembered how i did it thanks for giving a step by step! is more compelling this way than the way they teach at schools more successful too Comment from : @meriapan6354 |

The whole world uses HINDU numerals Comment from : @martinmartin-t6b |
Hi, thanks for the nice tips Just wondering if you would do these steps even if you are at a very basic level I'm asking because especially the fourth step sounds a bit hard If you are a beginner, there would be tons of unknown words, and if you stop the video and check each word's meaning every time, it would take forever to watch, say, entire series or even just one video Any thoughts or advice on that? Comment from : @Kento_Sato |
This is so genius! Most of language learning is really just about listening and immersion! Comment from : @The-Mediator |
Great video thanks Comment from : @AhlamAcademy |
You say that all four skills are used here, but I would argue that speaking is used here, because speaking involves thinking about how to construct a sentence, not just repeating what you've heard or reading aloud what's written For the skill of speaking, I think the best thing people have come up with is the Michel Thomas method, which at the same time is also the best method for starting to learn any language Comment from : @Andrey_Lavrushkin |
Why do some language learning channels tell you that using captions is bad? Comment from : @1chumley1 |
Step 1 is why most people speak more than 3 languages in my country Comment from : @kakadorez11 |
Insane :) sounds good Comment from : @fanboy7718 |
Just subscribed Wow! Your channel is just what I'm looking for I'm sort of treading water with high intermediate Spanish skills In everyday conversation, people say I'm fluent brBut I feel like a fraud because I know I have limitationsbrThank youlooking forward to future content!
