Had a local guy build my first and only AR15 SBR in 556 and let me tell you, it’s the only one I’ll need With the suppressor and stamps I have around 2800-3000 into it Pretty future proof, great trigger Pretty much completely ambidextrous and fully parted out Only a few things I didn’t pick out myself that I had him pick/use his stock brbrGet a 556

556/223 are way more available and cheaper for let say 557, 300 blackout In other words 556/223 ARs are cheaper to buy and shoot brbrIf you want to shoot pistol caliber round on AR, just get sub-pistol at that point for variety sake

Disclaimer: I get my knowledge from TarkovbrbrI kind of agree It just depends on what the use case isbrbrIf I am hunting deer and such (I would prefer a bolt action anyways) I would go 556brbrIf I am hunting animals with body armor and other guns (example tarkov) I feel the extra oomph of the 762 cant be outshinedbrbrSo in a SHTF situation, I would probably recommend 762 for that, but in any other 556 should dobrbrAlso if there is 22 AR that is for shredding civillians lol No armor no recoil I don’t know why anyone would want that other than conversation

I have AR's in 22LR, 9mm, and 556, and I shoot the 556 the least due to price of ammo With the 22LR ans 9mm everyone in the family can shoot them (make sure the AR9 is soft shooting for the young ones Some can me harsh), and if someone gets an AR in 9mm that takes Glock mags, most people are starting out with 15 - 20 magazines Haha A quite and soft shooting AR is a great way to get new people into shooting

I mean, 556 already has a viable track record It's what people are talking about when they say an AR is a low recoil, lightweight platform that meets most civilian needs albeit may be questionable in performance for hunting Also, if at a later date an owner decides they want something more viable for hunting, they have the option to buy just a new upper There are several calibers that are viable for that purpose that will fit a standard lower, and by just changing the upper you can maintain zero by leaving optics on the rail It's a ridiculously modular system considering that it was introduced in the 60s when that was not a serious consideration for a firearm
