Very true Ninja, I have always (did a SWOT analysis of my personal finances before I knew what it was called) this from when I had my first job at golf course maintenance at age 14 until (many more jobs later) I had my first 6 figure job & still do it to this day, but smart money (people who learn over time as they mature) listens to NINJA lessons about diversification of assets, monies, banks, side gigs, & so much more

I'm seriously looking at starting a whole life policy engineered to have a high cash value up front With a dump in on the front end it allows me to get 4ish percent intrest without the dividends and since I can borrow against the death benefit for 4-6 percent I can pay off what is left of my cards and car Once that is paid off and the cash value is built back up all my wife and I have left is paying off student loans

Unrelated but important topic: mega backdoor roth ira strategy is rare, but it is out there I feel people may be missing out on this huge opportunity I learned about the strategy via The Money Guy Show I inquired at work with local and corporate HR Nobody knew what I was talking about I called up Fidelity, our 401k provider, and they told me I had it available They also helped me understand how to do it I've put about 80k in my Roth ira in the last year and a bit using the strategy It is 100 worth looking into while it's still available Any questions hit me up here Good luck

He is correct about the medical bills and credit card debt !! That is what absolutely ruined us when my wife nurse had a heart attack, insurance DOES NOT cover "after major medical event" visits and medications !! We are now $35k in CC debt due to medical bills alone !! Savings is a long way away for us now

Just paid off my car it felt amazing to make the final payment but I honestly regret doing it as a month later my credit dropped from 780 to 640 because I paid off my car I’m not sure how I can boost my score it’s been frustrating to say the least!

How about the opposite situation? I have a car loan at 149, but I'm earning about 5 on my money market funds I can't see any reason to pay off the car more quickly as long as I'm earning more interest Am I right?

Do not put co-pays on credit cards Especially when it is a medical service today and dart board pricing bills later Set up a payment plan with the provider at zero interest Healthcare is a bloated bourocracy caused by lawsuits, insurance and government intervention/subsidies Medicine is a "practice " so like law an outcome is not guaranteed and mistakes are paid by youI would like to practice as an auto mechanic by marking up every supply expediently and not discussing cost until you receive a bill Don't worry because I practice you pay for every time I fail to fix the complaint
