Everytime you bid on an item it increases the items bid price by a percent, so if the item in is the 100 millions it will be a few million extra added to the previous bid Which even if you don't beat the previous bid it bumps the price up AND reveals that you are watching and wanting the snipe the item

D3 hasn't BECOME anything it's always been that The game strips out any element of skill, making inferno one long gear check, forcing you to use the AH There's no end-game to speak of Everyone just farms items to trade for items so they are able to farm items better Character variety carried D2 for a decade, but with D3's skill system, massive amounts of people are already bored So there's nothing to do but game the AH, trying to make money

AH works like ebayif you bid a high price on the itemit basically holds your place on the bid, BUT there is a chance you will pay more than you want because other people will make the current bid higher Thus why you want to bid only once near the end of the bid
