I'd like to add, yet very expensive-getting a metal roof helps in summer We had a worn out shingle roof and got a metal roof (layed over the shingles) and we noticed a big difference in better cooling immediately

I bought a couple of clothes drying racks from Ikea and stopped using the dryer altogether The clothes are sun dried in the backyard, never smell and saves drying cost Also, I cut down on the heated dry functionality in the dishwasher

If I have a tank of hot water that is going to go cold , I fill my washing machine up with it and do a wash How ? I hear you ask brA length of garden hose , attached to a plastic funnel , remove the soap tray , poke the hose into the soap tray hole and fill the washing machine up from the hot tap I use an oven thermometer to gauge the water temperature in the funnel brnearly ALL of the electricity used in a washing machine is heating the water up I also have my dish washer connected to the hot water supply gas is cheaper than electricity and if you have a full tank of hot water why let it go cold ?

I went in the attic and sealed all the eletrical boxes with fire rated single part foam, i used my vanometer on my fresh air intake and found it was drawing 30CFM less, thats a lot of air i was losing to the attic

I do not use my baseboard heaters to heat my apartment They are energy vampires! In fact, I turn them off at the breaker box because they will suck energy even when turned off! Use energy efficient space heaters when absolutely necessary!
