If you have a condensing combi boiler, set the boiler output temperature as low as possible, whilst it still heats the house ok, as the boiler condenses (takes hear from the waste flue gas) and works at optimum efficiency when the return water temp is 55c or below Bear in mind 10-15 will be lost as the radiators give off heat, so the boiler temp could be set at 60, even 65, but 55 would absolutely ensure the boiler operates in condensing modebrbrAfter using the oven, leave the door open to utilise the heat remaining in therebrbrIf there are curtains over radiators, fix a shelf over the radiator to direct the heat into the room rather than behind the curtains OR tuck the curtains on to the sillbrbrMake sure the heating goes OFF before you actually go to bed as there will be residual heat in the radiatorsbrbrOpen curtains to let sun into a room to naturally heat itbrbrTurn off the kettle just as it starts to boil as usually it will boil for a few seconds before the auto switch off occursbrbrProgrammable radiator valves can take the place of mechanical trvs Why heat the bedrooms all evening? Why heat the living room when you are leaving for work in the morning? Just heat the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen Comment from : @johnf3326 |
