I have several EGO products and they are great! After watching you're very enjoyable video review, I went & bought this at Lowe's If I needed this trimmer for grass, only, it would be fantastic!! But my biggest need for a more powerful weed eater than my battery powered Black & Decker, is to clean an uneven (1954) brick walkway behind my house that has grass over-taking it brThis trimmer has power, for sure, but after about 4 feet of a 2' wide portion, the string was gone! I put in the 14' string that came in the box, & after only 2-3 feet of a 4' wide portion, that string was gone! My gosh, I guess it just kept auto-feeding the line Even My battery B&D will do the entire walkway, just not great because of lack of power I really think the problem came from the continual auto-feed of the line, due to using it on bricksbrThing is, my former lawn guy could clean 20' or more of the walkway with his gas trimmer!! I don't know what kind he had, might try to contact him & ask For now, I sprayed the walkway with Roundup I hate using chemicals, but it'll get the job done brSince that's my main purpose for having a stronger weed eater, this is going back to Lowe's brHint to anyone buying, though -- the shoulder strap was truly a lifesaver in the time that I used the trimmer this morning!! I'm a 67 yo female, & this would've been too heavy for me otherwise I have carpal tunnel in my right wrist, but with the strap, I just switched sides & used my left hand for the power switch The strap is NOT the EGO name brand, but it was at the end of the aisle from the trimmers, at Lowe's, with the rolls of string I'll keep the strap, might be able to use it with my smaller battery B&D trimmer Comment from : @bburnsga |

I bought the ST 1520 with the Powerline 3 years ago i use the small battery and don't love it The Powerline is a bitch to load hard to get the line through thew 2 eyelets and often the powerline doesn't wind up the string tight enough The result is too short of lines after some cutting It is a bit heavy if you have alot of trimming to do i like the idea of the 2 speeds and hope that the new powerline is better than the old one Maybe using Ego string would work better Comment from : @bigdchi |

I’ve never had an EGO battery go completely bad either, but they do tend to degrade significantly after a year or so, and EGO is not the best when it comes to honoring those type of issues My results are anecdotal for sure, but so so are yours when you say you’ve never had an issue Comment from : @davidwho8215 |

UPDATE: Second unit was NOT fine It stopped feeding line through again, even with the EGO branded trimmer line Another bad headbrbrDisagree I use all EGO equipment for my all-electric lawn care business I bought a Line IQ trimmer last July and it lasted TWO months before it stopped feeding line in Bought another unit the next day and as of this last week, it stopped feeding line through as well brbrBrought both to my local ACE Hardware and found that the head on the first unit needed to be replaced Since I didn't call it in within 90 days, I learned that I had to pay out of pocket to replace it The second unit was actually fineit just refused to feed 095 Phantom Blue Twist trimmer line from Ballard (even though it's rated for 095) EGO Line worked finebut it's garbage for commercial use brbrThis unit is probably fine for residential users, but not for commercial We lawn care professionals like to trim without the guards on The Line IQ will push line out at inopportune times, making the line too long and forcing you to stop to cut it When you need more line, you have to wait long periods for the unit to spit more out In addition to these issues, the inability to use other brands of trimmer line as you see fit make this trimmer a real PITA for commercial use brbrI recommend just sticking with the regular POWERLOAD trimmer (without the Line IQ feature) with the bump feed Other users on the EGO subReddit have had issues with the Line IQ as well The EGO rep on the phone also confirmed that the EGO heads have had constant issues Comment from : @groundedearthmn |

No way is ANY Tap and extend trimmer head is Any Good None of them are reliable I always replace the head with a cut to length type of the Big Pro Line Stuff, and they're long The 80V Kobalt electric trimmer took it for about 6 months of harry homeowner duty before finally burning out the motor As powerful as ANY Gas trimmer, for sure a bit overloaded I think it needs some more air cooling, maybe they should limit the power to save the motor A TOTAL BRUTE Comment from : @markhall3434 |
