Is it worth getting the Protection Plans? It seems appliances are so badly built these days that to not purchase the protection plan is short sighted? Comment from : @ocdtechtalk |
|
Not the best way to look at failure rates The 3 “best”, removing speed queen…are the least popular You would have to factor in number of units sold vs search results to understand the number of failures Many more Toyotas break down than Lamborghinis, doesn’t mean a lambo is reliable Comment from : @5ryannnnn |

The Maytag Commercial with the deep fill option and the full agitator is a good choice for a small family Comment from : @daviddelpolito7067 |

The ridiculous price of a tiny washer named Miele and Bosch is for suckersbrSpeed queen is definitely a better choice But defend lg shows your bias That company has screwed the customer over and over again with their crap refrigerator and dishwashersbrElectrolux and Frigidaire are the bottom of the line garbage and are not a repairable item due to poor engineering Comment from : @daviddelpolito7067 |

The older Whirlpool washers have the best top load agitators I have an old Kenmore-Whirlpool and a newer (8 yr) Whirlpool that keeps showing up on Ben’s videos As he mentioned, “you can diagnose any problem with the led dial, and you need that because of their breakdowns” He’s right However, since I fix everything myself that breaks, these are my preferred washers The parts store seems to have all the parts I need The newer washer is a wtw4816fw1 Comment from : @Norm100ful |

Yes - Speed Queen is top of the line…but mine was really tough on my clothes I noticed a distinct amount of abrasion on the seams and hems of my items when I had one…and believe me - I religiously sort clothes into “like piles” since my husband works construction…so no rough, no grimy jeans and work shirts mixed with my cotton tops and unmentionables, please!!💕 Comment from : @claudiamiller7730 |

I bought a home in 1989 with a Whirlpool already 20 years old It lasted many more years brbrEach Whirlpool I have bought since has decreased in quality After three machines, I finally went with a Speed Queen So far, very happy It is also far heavier than the Whirlpool Comment from : @cjb8010 |

Wow, I've done basically everything wrong, and I've had no issues! I guess I'm just lucky? We have a Samsung front loader I have never run any form of clean cycle on it, we shove it as full as it'll take, we fill the detergent up to the top, we run it with hard water, I clean that little filter at the bottom of the machine roughly every 3 years, and the thing has been working flawlessly for the last 12 years giving us beautifully clean clothes without any maintenance whatsoever! There's a simple reason why front loaders are now slightly more reliable than top loaders Top loaders are being made much worse than they were before, while front loaders are being made only slightly worse brI think your methodology for determining frequency of repair by using internet searches is flawed br Before I buy a major appliance I search to find out the most common repairs for the units I'm considering - AND- what information is available for repair I cost the repair parts and I determine whether I could do the work I use that to compare probable life cycle costs I also do this with other machinery like carsy simpler than average and cost less Comment from : @psdaengr911 |

I purchased a Kenmore washer/dryer in 1992 and utilized it extensively without encountering any issues Notably, my husband was on active duty in the military, and we relocated approximately 16 times over the course of 30 years Prior to his retirement, we acquired our first home, which included newer models of our existing appliances Our old appliances, featuring wood veneer accents, were left unpacked in the garage for six years, we resided in an area characterized by extreme heat When the newer models began to underperform, we opted to upgrade My husband suggested gifting our old appliances to one of our son's friends, who had recently married The appliances remained in excellent condition and, to the best of my knowledge, continued to function properly Subsequently, I acquired a Kenmore top loader, touted as having large capacity, but soon realized that this purchase was a mistake My dark clothing emerged with white streaks, and I witnessed a sock being tossed atop the clothes, never making contact with the water, and emerging dry I exchanged the top loader for front loaders, despite my initial reservations Although I still possess these appliances, I am thoroughly dissatisfied with their performance The numerous cycles, which require 25 hours to complete a single load, are impractical Consequently, I have been compelled to utilize the express wash feature, as the extended cycle times are unfeasible The front loaders employ insufficient water, resulting in some items emerging half dry To mitigate this issue, I have resorted to soaking certain items prior to washing to increase their weight and facilitate the use of more water Now the washer buttons are beginning to malfunction, necessitating an impending upgrade I intend to acquire a model featuring an agitator, as I firmly believe that this design is superior to the top-loading flat plate configuration Interestingly, my son's friend, who received our old appliances, has not experienced any issues with them brbrThank you for a great video Comment from : @yosemitesam9322 |

I have been married 39 years, when I got married my best friend gave me his old machines that had been given to them when they got married a few years earlier! The machines were Kenmore, and had been in my friends wifes family for a decade I had to replace them 3 years ago! Raised two children In the new golden age we need to go back and build mechanical machines that are durable! Comment from : @greggibbs5288 |

I don’t know if we got a lemon But our speed queens have been trouble for us The dryers heat element goes out a lot We have had ours for 4 years and about once a year we have had to replace the heating element in our dryer Currently we are dealing with the washer stopping mid cycle and leaving a tub full of water Not fun!! Comment from : @whitneyhoffer6432 |
|
If you are going to buy a new washer and dryer make sure to do your homework We made the mistake of buying a new GE profile set in 2025 We only had them one day and returned them, absolute junk No matter what we did it would never fill up with water leaving the clothes on top dry half way through the wash We ended up buying a Speed Queen TR7003WN washer along with the TR7003DR dryer You can see them at 5:50 & 7:70 the set with the digital controls in the background Comment from : @BulletSpoung |
|
I had a Samsung washer and dryer The washer was OK, but the dryer was a huge piece of garbage! The heater coil broke 3 times and the drum belt broke once over the course of 10 years I’ve never seen anything like it I will never buy one again Comment from : @drivesmecrazy1000 |

I killed my TROMM LG, an excellent machine,by using the wrong detergent It was caked around the spin thing and the motor locked up and burned out I was devastated It was a 120000 washer in 2004 It’s dryer still works like a champ Use the correct detergent! Comment from : @Anna-ww4pv |

The new 'wash plate' doesn't get the clothes clean, and doesn't get all the soap out when rinsing Junk Now we have to run them through TWO washing cycles to do what used to be done in one Using TWICE as much water and detergent Comment from : @debb5788 |

Thank you for your excellent video I want to comment on your Brand Fail Rate chart and I am more of the opinion that it’s likely more reflective of the volume of each model sold Samsung, Whirlpool and LG are top sellers and therefore by their numbers, they would tend to generate more repair searches on Google Comment from : @stanacho854 |
|
My LG toploader I've had for the last 15 years Only one minor problem that I fixed myself It's still going good! Comment from : @Bozana7171 |

|
The problem with the internet failure searches is you have to factor in the number of units out there Bosch and Meile may not have near the machines as say Samsung so those percentages are naturally going to be lower Comment from : @williamt5837 |
|
