What you don't take into consideration is that not all cars are equal, even within the same model There are good cars and bad cars in EVERY model That is true off the dealers lot and even more so on the used market So much of a car's reliability is determined by how it has been driven and taken care of When buying a used car you don't know who drove it, nor how it was driven You have no idea how if was serviced and maintained Regardless of what you are told, the owner just wants to sell the car, truth be damned

I had an 04 Pontiac Vibe, bought it with about 200k miles on it Aside from a radiator battery and some front end work, I had that car for 8 years, and ran it over 300k miles I could tell because it stayed at 299,999 even after miles of driving lol I would get another one if I could find one clean

5 years ago I saw a AWD Element on Market Place when I was looking for a vehicle It had low mileage and looked clean Everyone wanted that car and I could not get it The guy messaged me telling me he had many messages After checking today, any lower mileage AWD Element is expensive, like over 10k The beat up 200k ones are cheap I always admired that vehicle with it's interior and rubber floors, even when it was bashed for being ugly I remember when it came out, I liked it I found another vehicle that actually suits my lifestyle better being more off road capable, but I really wanted that AWD Element I bought a low mileage older SUV from a dealership in a resort town A lot of second home owners keep vehicles at their second homes and trade in these older low mileage vehicles to these mountain town auto dealers

I have a honda 2004 CRV that used to be my grandma's The only 2 issues I've ever had is the AC finally gave out and had to be replaced (less than 200 dollars) and my windows don't roll down anymore, which is not that big of a deal to me I love that car and I plan to drive it into the ground

Snagged a 2012 FIAT 500 Sport (back in '20) for $3250 From a used car lot no less 124k miles 5 speed manual transmission is the only way to go here (automatics not so robust) Five years later all is well Easy to work on (mostly) Almost at 140,000 miles now Still on the original clutch Same with the front axles

Number 1 the Lexus ES needs a timing belt every 10 years or 90K Also valve cover gaskets need replacing at about 100 k miles I never have to add oil, my 33l engine runs great at 135k miles and 21 years old 2003-2006 Sienna shares the same engine

Its just marketing Saying if you're broke, you can get these older more stable cars 🚗, even with lots of mileage for folks with low income or low amount of money down and finance the rest with a loan Its getting a car for low cost to use for a temporary amiunt of time Such as 2 years and be carefulof any repair or adding needless mileage Helping it last long enough, to up grade to another vehicle The Lexus and Mazda, & Honda vehicles are well made , even with plenty mileage on them to run for a time!!!! With good 👍 care & maintenence they can cover peoples temporary needs for these used cars😊
