@UKsystems
I think the crew cost is quite hard to imagine as in a lot of cases the machined part is worth its waiting gold because there is no better alternative
Comment from : @UKsystems

@mad0uche
Hopefully your vocabulary improved since this dogshit video, calling blends "bores" and medias "operations"
Comment from : @mad0uche

@chrisc1158
An aluminum extrusion would save 90 of the material to machine and knock you down to 2 setups Whether the cost of the extrusion die would be economical is of course production demand dependent
Comment from : @chrisc1158

@allergic2cubicles
Tell me about the situation that caused the vice to be milled out Did the guy get fired?
Comment from : @allergic2cubicles

@doug16335
to say your prototypes only cost the material cost what about electricity, wages, and other basic business operations you made soft jaws, you had 4 setups if you are not expensing this properly in your business, you are losing money and don't even know it
Comment from : @doug16335

@robertchadwick2925
That was very interesting to learn about Thanks
Comment from : @robertchadwick2925

@alvarez958
Hello have two pices to make in alu straight lines do you make a publics services please ???
Comment from : @alvarez958

@TheMotosnake
Xometry suuuuucks The pricing is insulting to us manufacturers
Comment from : @TheMotosnake

@matthamilton4053
Thanks for the video, really really helpful I’m currently designing an almost identical shock bottom mount for a car and have been considering carbon forging, versus welding two plates to a pipe, vs outsourced CNC machining I need 4 of them, and works out about $100 a piece from quotes I’ve had online So sounds similar ballpark to yours when you factor in volume I was curious as to the factors that made up the cost, including things like machining time and number of setups/passes I was actually surprised that removing some of the ‘nice but not essential’ details that I could hand-add myself after the fact didn’t change the price, so added them back in again!
Comment from : @matthamilton4053

@gerardocano3399
Hello im working from mexico in the border with arizona, this page Xometry is a great tool to work in the quot and take idea quickly for cost and operationbrIf any body is interested on international work just can contact me i have a Mexico cost and import to USA or any country
Comment from : @gerardocano3399

@BluCoastPrecision
Nice, I have a haas mini mill on the way!
Comment from : @BluCoastPrecision

@macneill2012
Great break down of this item
Comment from : @macneill2012

@ikesquirrel
Having multiple jigs and presets allows faster run times and less setup without having to dial in every time
Comment from : @ikesquirrel

@supermilo
Everyone forgets about the NRE
Comment from : @supermilo

@TiffanyGentry-hk9zg
How can I get ahold of you guys to machine this aluminum piece for the repair of steering head on a cbr 929rr??? @DarkAero, Inc
Comment from : @TiffanyGentry-hk9zg

@cristianku75
would it possible to machine that piece "dry" without emulsion?
Comment from : @cristianku75

@dutchylt
Holy damn, I could manually machine that for under $50 of material
Comment from : @dutchylt

@blackturbine
Trick with cnc machining is to get your quote expensive enough that it becomes cheaper to buy your own cnc machine
Comment from : @blackturbine

@brei2670
I'm just a tad confused why you would machine this thing when you could just weld two ears to a pipe and drill a hole through thembrI feel like that'd easily be the cheapest optionbr(Well, I think welding aluminum is hard or something? I'm no pro by any means, but when I look at that thing I just see a piece of pipe and two ears with holes in them)
Comment from : @brei2670

@tunnel7
Wow such dated methods
Comment from : @tunnel7

@TheShannon60
Are those saw marks on your finished piece?
Comment from : @TheShannon60

@ThatOneOddGuy
I thought I'd learn something new here but I already know about all this stuff
Comment from : @ThatOneOddGuy

@cebuanostud
It looks like a bicycle stem for a minute
Comment from : @cebuanostud

@BETTALIFE101
I could do that in 3 ops
Comment from : @BETTALIFE101

@fredwild190
Do the costs include shipping? Thank you
Comment from : @fredwild190

@qbi4614
Man I understand why the USA is going broke!
Comment from : @qbi4614

@jaredfaustino6493
as a small CNC business i really appreciate how you broke this down so simply nobody realizes the amount of time and effort that goes into making A "SIMPLE PART", let alone the amount of time it takes to get to a high level of manufacturing to produce parts of any size and complexity This video helps shine a little light on it thanks
Comment from : @jaredfaustino6493

@HoundDogMech
I'll bet I could Square up that to Out side Dementions Lay it out with a Height Gauge Roufg Drill the holes (4) and machine it in a Bridge Port Faster and Finish bore the holes,and cheaper than Programing and Machining it in that expensibe Fancy CNC Machine that doesn't even have a tool changer
Comment from : @HoundDogMech

@ionutandrasesc2376
the comment section is wild here 😂😂😂
Comment from : @ionutandrasesc2376

@FradyKatt
I quote the ole fashion way I dont need xometry to tell me how much to charge You know your rate and material cost so its up to you to rate your time
Comment from : @FradyKatt

@simonkelly6189
Most cash ppl with a cnc charge for is the coding and data the cmc has that apart from buying a cnc is the most one off payments yet yeah still charge loads if i pay you to do a job i pay you not for u to put it in a cnc press play and flip it if needed weres the skills a 5 year old can operate a cnc
Comment from : @simonkelly6189

@prodigy6000
The cost of a part is a reflection of a shops experience, or greed I make aerospace parts all day long for 30 the cost of my competition, in half the time
Comment from : @prodigy6000

@FNR
Who makes the toolholder rack on the wall at the start of the video?
Comment from : @FNR

@lambertax
For European viewers, using the analogy "thickness of a sheet of paper" is somewhat useful brWhen you talk about tolerances or dimensions in Imperial, our brains are not calibrated for that (4/1000 of an inch means almost nothing!) brFor the last country in the world using this archaic system, migration to the metric system, at least for industry, should be mandatory right?
Comment from : @lambertax

@Tobi_Jones
What is the difference between titanium 5 and 2 ?
Comment from : @Tobi_Jones

@gokmachine
A lot of small machine shops would like to have a CNC machine to make a million parts for a big customer and think they buy a money printerbrBut there only has to be one competitor who offers the parts one cent cheaper and the new machine makes not a single chip
Comment from : @gokmachine

@gtcollection6933
I'm normally sending all my parts over to my partner in Dongguan/China and get them machined for $8/pcs vs $400/pcs in the west, and they are as good if not better given the experience these guys has No brainer that's what CNC machining cost
Comment from : @gtcollection6933

@skaelring-xj3gq
Thank you for saying "one thousandth" as opposed to "one thousandths" That shit is so irritating
Comment from : @skaelring-xj3gq

@phuckyocouch9098
I pitched the idea of basically what xometry is to my fiancee a long time ago Before we were engaged and before xometry never ran with the Idea and every time i hear that word now it damages my soul a little I was calling it angies list for manufacturing basically
Comment from : @phuckyocouch9098

@garrettmillard525
Is there actually a very different machine/setup for tighter tolerances? Or does price mostly reflect a slower, more careful process, perhaps a better tool? I am also curious how often parts get scrapped in a big CNC corp like that is the higher cost reflecting expecting substantially more parts that fail to meet QA?
Comment from : @garrettmillard525

@devhermit
Video about nothing
Comment from : @devhermit

@peteabdu9179
Nice video, great info Try quoting with fictiv, better and cheaper
Comment from : @peteabdu9179

@RealNotallGaming
3:52bryou just machine the entire hole in 1 passbrthis is the only way (to be a professional, if you want to be one)brand in the second pass you do only the exterior partbrbrplus for that piece you dont need a CNCbryou need a traditional milling machine (as i already said, if you want to be a professional)brwith traditional is faster, less expensive and funnierbrbrsometimes, to play with 500000 dollar CNC milling machines, is simply boring XD
Comment from : @RealNotallGaming

@BrentLeVasseur
Nice demonstration Why you do have to manually flip the piece around for each ‘op’? Shouldn’t the machine be able to do that automatically as part of the process? And what happens to all the aluminum waste/cuttings? Can they be collected and recycled back into aluminum ingots for use in future jobs?
Comment from : @BrentLeVasseur

@johannesfossi5561
Get a 5axis and you can make that part in one operation
Comment from : @johannesfossi5561

@joshkreiser3776
Now I want to know, assuming with this example how many parts would you have to make before buying a cnc machine actually saves you money
Comment from : @joshkreiser3776

@getfastfish5020
When I make fishing molds the vents are 0005" high Sometimes 001 just isn't enough
Comment from : @getfastfish5020

@Hanal503
If you have an order of 10 k pcs in your case you will finish in 10 years😅😅😅😅😅
Comment from : @Hanal503

@k2line706
So by true cost you mean just showing us the cost of Xometry Waste of time
Comment from : @k2line706

@kookiethebear
Good quick review, but you need to consider machinery, consumables, labor, and repair costs rather than just how much the bulk material is
Comment from : @kookiethebear

@pablomarcalcanada
it would be easier in a wire edm
Comment from : @pablomarcalcanada

@weldmachine
Designers and Tolerances ????br1 mouse click just added 1 or more hours to the job that didn't need it ??brSo many times making parts for a customer and they leave a tight Default tolerance for a simple bushing that only needs a bolt through it ??
Comment from : @weldmachine

@aliandyjfnababan
One cost US$400 while cost US$40, that your thumbnail said As far as I notice, to make combustion engine parts high compression ratio need more steel rather than Aluminium 7075 I just don't get clear message which cheaper between CNC or die casting, just get idea that CNC is future 40 which need material lost Btw I like this kind of video
Comment from : @aliandyjfnababan

@JordanHaisley
This is interesting, I personally wouldn’t touch the original tolerances, but as a mostly hobbyist fabricator I would charge around $150 for the 5 thou version Which I would produce with a water jet and manual mill
Comment from : @JordanHaisley

@zoowooo77
I apply for this job which I don’t know nothing about so I’m on YouTube trying to see what all I Gotta do 😢
Comment from : @zoowooo77

@kevinmorrison1553
Is that a retrofitted VMC? I noticed Z G00 retracted slow I want to do it using Masso touch controls
Comment from : @kevinmorrison1553

@steve5nash
Can you Amazonify the entire CNC industry?
Comment from : @steve5nash

@dermeister314p
Additive, metal printing not good enough yet?
Comment from : @dermeister314p

@ganeshwandhekar6519
India make 4$ 😅
Comment from : @ganeshwandhekar6519

@JamesBond-je3oo
5 axis could do it in one operation like dmg dmu 40
Comment from : @JamesBond-je3oo

@lorentsgaytan3118
How much would it cost for 12 parts as big as your thumb
Comment from : @lorentsgaytan3118

@twitterdtwitterdumb8271
It’s amazing how overpriced everything has become ! I truly hope that your planes are reasonably priced
Comment from : @twitterdtwitterdumb8271

@Maisonier
Amazing video! Liked and subscribed What about the cost and quality of the new service of pcbway of cnc machining?
Comment from : @Maisonier

@garylarson6386
I do cnc field service, rural machine shops dont have outside signs, farmers come in and thing they can get the part cheaper than john deere
Comment from : @garylarson6386

@spongesurf12
Interesting you say for in house machining the only cost is material Is there no labor, overhead, & burden?
Comment from : @spongesurf12

@michaelwalling5608
If you are going to interpolate the bores make sure your machine is properly maintained Excessive backlash will degrade circularity and can cause significant stress risers allowing a properly designed part fail because of poor manufacturing Of course you could also just use a boring bar
Comment from : @michaelwalling5608

@vex123
Great video Thanks for sharing
Comment from : @vex123

@guillermoplatero1891
me welding a tube and 2 tringles of steel to the tube
Comment from : @guillermoplatero1891

@hms1688
Good work!!! We also have rich experience in sheet metal fab, we are a strong manufacturer in China, with high quality and competitive price
Comment from : @hms1688

@davidrobins4025
Fascinating information 100, eh!
Comment from : @davidrobins4025

@rsilvers129
What bout Protolabs? Just priced a part and it was $1000 less than the place you used
Comment from : @rsilvers129

@EivinSukoi
Wow $40, but I need to spend $50 for a CNC machine like this , such a bargain 😂
Comment from : @EivinSukoi

@someoneelse7629
A friend of mine used to work as a prototype machinist and teacher for machinists, and he always said, ask the constructor if the tolerances NEED to be as tight as he has set them on the drawing, or if he did it just of habitbrHis first job he ran a series of pieces on a clapped out mill, so they scrapped a lot of them for being out of tolerance, the material was just cheap steeel, so no biggie, but it was a lot of machine time wastedbrWhen he saw them mounting the piece, he realized that the tolerance should have been 01mm, not 0001mmbr99 of the parts he scrapped would have worked just fine
Comment from : @someoneelse7629

@MyPrangija
znas ti posto je to
Comment from : @MyPrangija

@voodoosvault7869
Bro, can I come over and play?
Comment from : @voodoosvault7869

@anonymous6694
How does one learn machining if youre doing it as a hobby? Is it possible? The only thing I can find are full time trade school courses
Comment from : @anonymous6694

@Mobev1
Pay attention to price, beat down supplier price, bristelle, pipistrel not selling……cirrus and Cessna about the only thing selling You better call grs and not brs…if you don’t you’ll fail Source…high net worth individual
Comment from : @Mobev1

@ailour
it's insane what you guys are making! This is true insanity I just love this
Comment from : @ailour

@divertechnology
that piece unless it is absolutely necessary in my country we would do it more economically
Comment from : @divertechnology

@makosharkcnc7730
interesting
Comment from : @makosharkcnc7730

@johndavis1312
You guys definitely are overcomplicating the tool paths and setups Keep the part on the bar, hang the bar out of the vice, and profile the side along with the hole Drill two holes in the corners of your fork for the radii Saw part off Now profile the triangle and drill your cross hole with the part on its side Stand it up and mill out the fork and there you go
Comment from : @johndavis1312

@afzalshahid6833
My question is, by jyst looking at the drawing how can we estimate machining cost without any software or aap?
Comment from : @afzalshahid6833

@DarcyTheManstop
Not much of a cnc guy yet but I think its really cool Planning on becomming a tig welder :)
Comment from : @DarcyTheManstop

@haylspa
if you are sending the file with all tool paths/Gcodes it honestly should not cost that much you have already done 90 of the work and thats being Generous 10 bucks for two, but buying only in bulk and still costing 8x per part would only be worth it if you could not produce the part how ever at that point and cost might be worth looking into buying some capable machines, just an order or two from you is buying that machine there using food for thought
Comment from : @haylspa

@JarppaGuru
7:58 noh! ask my boss its how much it take machine faster faster so part is cheaper LOL its like no extreamely important fast tomorrow cost its just 1 one and cheap LOL thats why boss is poor he not know how ask 1000 for one part that take more setup than machining
Comment from : @JarppaGuru

@doubledsledgy
I'd mill that in 2 ops for around 50 bucks but hey - that's gladly none of my business I should consider register on that site and ripping off customers 🤔
Comment from : @doubledsledgy

@motoflyte
You need the add on micro arc 4th axis for the tormach
Comment from : @motoflyte

@JesseKlaus
Would 3d printed softjaws work?
