For some reason for better or worse I always prioritize three things job ,education , and buying a house brbrI was able to buy my first starter home using a tax return There was many things subpar about it but now I have equity and am renting it out so it is paying itself after getting a better job after 10 years of grinding on my skillsets and moving to a bigger house I am still not living comfortably so will probably need to do 10 years more of grinding brbrEating out only works when one has disposable income Buying a house early forces certain spending habits which means not being able to afford to eat out or afford the nicest car as I am making a tradeoff by buying a homebrbrMortgages are cheaper than renting but there are hidden costs such as higher utilities and required maintenance for older homes brbrI think the eating out or going on frivolous vacations can make sense for a certain person but once one is married it is not fully one's choice anyway and it is not too good for the economy if everyone adopted minimalism

I agree with all of this as Im very frugal But there are things that people should have genuine concerns with Microwavable foods are most often in plastic containers that leak scientifically proven, toxins directly in to your food at room temperature which is far less than what its being heated to Yeah its nice to have a $3 meal but that hospital bill down the road will use up all of those savings and that meal is cheap for a reason

What a great video I find also that I not only save money eating at home, but I also get to choose exactly what I want, the portion I want, season just the way I want and less junk additives added into my foods I know I am eating healthier

One day I realized that buying steak at the grocery store and cooking it at home was the same price as the cheapest burger you can find at restaurants and my diet hasn't been the same since Once I learned about sales schedules, reduced prices near "Sell by" dates, and "nutrient density" of foods (shoutout to Optimising Nutrition) I am eating a whole heck of a lot of meat and seafood from the grocery store

You want to be careful of microwavable food as many of them contain excessive amounts of salt and sugar and often don't make you full due to a lack of nutrients One of the benefits of certain restaurant meals is that they're filling and have a better quality of food (depending on what you order) And you can bring a reusable container for leftovers Of course, cooking is the best long term solution

We rarely go out to eat, but when we do all of us only order tap water as a beverage and go for the lunch menu for dinner since those are typically smaller portions at slightly lower costs We eat a dessert at home after we get back from the restaurant rather than ordering dessert there

I grew up in Asia so eating out options were so diverse, one could easily find good quality food for a nickle Living abroad as an international student has taught me to cook at home, but the major milestone when I grew into a talented cook and baker wasn't my hospitality education, but the fact that it's so pricey here to eat out If I like something, I most likely try to find a way to replicate that dish at homebrbrAND YET, today, 2025, I - a mid-senior professional earning a decent Swiss salary - still find dining out in the States so freaking expensive! I regularly visit my family in the US and it's horrifying to see how dining out now is actually almost at the same as in Switzerland - and most folks who fill those restaurants don't necessarily have that kind of salary How do you guys afford all that??

In addition to splitting an entre, just drink water But we actually plan to bring our leftovers home to get the convenience factor for a second meal after the luxury aspect for the first meal We don't buy soda or juice for the house, so when we go out once or twice a week, it's a treat we allow ourselves brAnother tip is to order off the appetiser menu or customise your meal with your fave sides rather than getting a giant main dish you may not even like Especially if you're a leftover snob Better yet, don't be a leftover snob ;)

Guys, cooking at home could save more than $4 per person I cooked a pan of pasta for just $10 for 5 pseron portion Unless you're talking about including transport costs(to and fro supermarket, which could be easily be zeroed by cycling) and energy costs to cook the food(the electricity used for the induction stove)

Did you know that most of the money you spend on eating out pays the landlords? The business owners get 5-7 net profit(if they are lucky no machinery breaks down or any sudden huge expense needed) and provided they are using fresh ingredients( profit margins could be increased by using frozen fish and seafood,frozen vegetables, make everything in-house)
