Nice video But they did not have the ability to CAST STEEL… They used steel, but they could not cast it Cast iron which is extremely brittle i’m sure it was beyond them as well… A positive could have been forged into the die making the day a negative

In modern mints, They would not heat a blank as it would damage the die by annealing it This subject is so fascinating to me as the tonnage it takes to coin an annealed one ounce blank is 100-200 tones for a 010-015 high image I see extremely high relief in ancient greek coins that we are told are struck with a hammer I am not buying it I think they build some kind of presses in ancient times For a very high relief medal or coin, They would have to strike and anneal, strike and anneal up to 10 and even 15 times How did these ancients do it? I am talking struck and not cast coins
