Hi!! I have a Dyslexic kid too She has not Dyscalculia Have you heard of Dianne Craft material? She does have some interesting things to teach right brain learners ❤

My grandson is a 6th grader with discalculia and he is like you describe your son He can go in and do the multiple number addition subtraction He knows when to carry and when to borrow But he still has to count on his fingers He will start at 1:00 instead of starting at the highest number and today he knows it and tomorrow he does not so you describe him perfectly Right now I am using right start math and their whole idea is to subitize but a lot of their idea is mental math which for a child with discalculia mental math is next to impossible So yes it is a struggle and thank you I was thinking that hey it's cheating If I show him the answers I will be getting the addition and subtraction chart because hey if he doesn't know what he doesn't know it and you described it so perfectly that he is using up so much brain energy I see him trying so hard He wants to do it so badly But that little connection in his brain just is not connected So thank you for this video and I will be incorporating some of the things you mentioned and I will stop feeling like it's cheating right start Matthews is an AL abacus It's very visual and it is subitizing and he gets that he understands that but I said you can't carry an abacus around with you the rest of your life lol Is there any way you can let us know what other curriculum you use because my grandson struggles with other things also and I find myself concentrating so heavily on math that all the other subjects kind of fall through the cracks because math is the one that really gets us in a bad way

what are the math facts that you copied for your son? i re-read the transcript, but still aren't sure if i should make some for more advanced addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division do you allow your son access to those during school work & tests?

Thank you for sharing Ive watched all 4 of your videos and I understand your journey My daughter has been diagnosed with dyslexia with ADD as a compounding factor She also has struggles with math facts We also love the math songs from classical conversations My daughter also needs a mastery approach to math It has been a journey for sure but I am so thankful that we are able to homeschool I may have missed it but did you mention what you are using for your sons math curriculum?
