A Golden coin from the Roman Golden age, spectacular!brbrAnd its a really interesting piece, as you mentioned, that shows us the famous philosopher emperor before he was emperor, without his famous beard However, he was already considered by many to display the qualities of a good emperor, with some sources citing "He was a young man, but displayed a serious and composed attitude that greatly dignified him" Comment from : @ClassicalNumismatics |

I have what people would say quit a few of bullion gold coins, but I would really like a Roman gold coin I just cannot justify buying one at this stage of my life, but if I was younger and have the money I have now I would buy one I applaud you for buying a coin you really wanted I think I know the feeling of having a coin that was in use during the times you speak of it makes your mind wonder Enjoy 2 is 1 Comment from : @larryjoe1357 |

Yesterday I bought a 2015 W High Relief Liberty Gold Coin, paid $ 282580 only 49,325 minted, did I pay too much? Probably did in todays climate, but I do own one of the 49,325 Always buy low mintage collectables if you have spare cash Comment from : @tweetybird3597 |
Small price for a piece of history 🎉 Comment from : @h9hkk6155 |
I have a pretty large ancient collection Mostly Roman silver & gold, and a couple greek pieces Not for stacking, itss the "fun" stuff for me I don't get excited for Morgans or Peace dollars If I want historic pieces I'll go with ancients Comment from : @moderndayennui4999 |
I have a Nero aureus One of my best coins by far Comment from : @bunymustard2584 |
Should pare well with the campfire flavored spirits you sampled a some time ago See what just happened there? brbrIt doesn't matter how much fiat you traded for something you've been eyeing with that level of fervor over time Now that you've quelled that itch, the question is what's next--a 1934 FR $1000 Banknote? Wouldn't that be ironic? Cheers! Comment from : @strykerentllc |
Meditations is one of my favorite books Comment from : @WildRiverCamping |
I recently won a raffle of a $25 Gold Indian I had been looking for awhile Granted it’s not a valuable coin especially with the “cleaned” grade But $50 for it I was happy to get one at the price Comment from : @DetectingBriar |

When one has gorged on enough common bullion, one begins to look for the next hit, the next conquest So begins the brave, rich new world of numismatics Comment from : @ejkalegal3145 |

I bought a one ounce Scrooge McDuck gold coin from APMEX last year and love it! A Scrooge McDuck would look great next to your Marcus Aurelius On a different note, I cringed seeing that coin cracked out of the slab At some point you or your sons or whoever will eventually sell it Expensive numismatics need to be certified Busting that gold coin out leaves money on the table No guarantee you'll get that grade back Comment from : @artboston4787 |
Fun video no negativity about current events love it Comment from : @Nordy941 |
Wow man that one and the silver owl are really cool I have to give you props on that in my personal opinion that's more like prestige precious metals than it is just your everyday common precious metal of gold and silverbrYou know man we are funny creatures we will put value on something so tiny and small and never think that the price of it will ever go so high what we set it for And I'll honestly I think that's just an ego we settle for and I think if we do that it shows the flaw of our thinking in what we value I say this cuz I remember watching salivate metal video on the gold shell coins that was stolen from a museum that was worth so much money And now it's all gone probably in the hands of some private owner who is a criminal some kind or it's melted and now sold as bars on the black market I mention this because I think of Marcus Aurelius and all the ancestors in our past who probably think we are a bit crazy for spending so much for a little amount of gold I think it might be a sign of the times of our country coming to a financial end Honestly I think it's a prestige to have such precious metal as a luxury if whatever reason you get a lot more of those particular coins I hope you sell it to a museum and get your money's worth That being said I want to say thank you for your time and sharing with us this video it makes me think about precious metals in a way that might be more of a warning not to get too carried away but to be practical Well if you die you can always have it buried with you lol😏🪙⚰️🪦 Comment from : @josephalvarez6735 |
I can't afford the luxury, but having said that my first gold was a restrike Austrio-Hungatian 100 Corona dated 1915 The Austrian mint produces them using the original dies I was thinking it would be more in my price range to get reproductions of say the coins mentioned in the Bible Comment from : @MrDavidknigge |
That is a super cool pick up! Wow, just the age and history alone Enjoy and can't wait to see what you do with it : ) Comment from : @72cmcinc |

Just the fact that you were so excited to get this coin tells me that it was not a mistake to buy it You will cherish this always brI can hear Marcus Aurelius all the way to here in West Virginia, crying out to be released from his imprisonment in the plastic slab… Comment from : @burke9497 |

that coin is awesome!brgreat buy regardless of metal contentbri've read a little marcus' quotes really interesting stuff Comment from : @nathanr494 |
I don’t consider spot much when I’m buying the older stuff What gets me is imagining the story behind that piece that got it into my hands Comment from : @zandersohn4283 |

Oh man, I'm a big fan of the stoics and Aurelius in particular I've read Meditations more than a few times and now I feel like I need one of thesewhich of course is making me feel like I learned nothing from reading Meditations 😕 Comment from : @grumpygus81 |
I would argue you aren't just paying for the age & rarity of the coin as much as the grade And I shudder to think about what the acid from your figures will do to the suface of the other metals in that coin Comment from : @ComicCommando |
Really beautiful coin ans piece of history Comment from : @AnxiousStacker |
You’re ahead of all of us related to “art pieces “ in coinage Comment from : @bobandmaryw4336 |

Don't know much at all about ancient coins but I'm interested Maybe you could make a video outlining the things you learned about old coins when doing your research Comment from : @shyuc |
Numismatics usually bore me, but these historical pieces are exceedingly interesting I'd love one; I just don't want to pay the premium Comment from : @GrabMyArm501 |
For a graded Roman Empire coin I think you are fine Comment from : @incendiumaquila7605 |
These coins are so much more interesting than bullion Ive ventured into numismatics with a few sub 100$ silver coins Earliest coin I have is a spanish gold coin my grandfather found on the beach in the Caribbean when my mother was a child 1756 It is amazing you can get such a nice roman gold coin for "only" $5000 A ton of money for a collectable, but a real piece of history Too rich for me unfortunately I don't think its a great investment or store of value but it likely wont ever go down much More similar to buying a rolex or fancy pocket knife, there will always be someone willing to pay for such a thing, but the transaction will be involved Comment from : @aaronschen9896 |
Breaking it out! WHAT A BOSS Love it Comment from : @moriorinvictus |
I’ve been devouring your videos and have yet to buy any precious metals but just the other day I was thinking I would love to own a Roman or Ancient Greece coin! 🤯 I was lucky enough to travel around Italy and Greece for a few months in a camper van and visited so many ancient sites and learnt so much that I thought it would be cool to have a coin from such times! You’ve got a beauty there and I would love to see how you eventually display it! ☺️✌️ Comment from : @EnjoyPlantPower |
Nice pick up !!brBuy what you like, that's what I do 🤙🏽 Comment from : @theurbancoincollector |
I would love to own a gold coin from the Roman era Always been a history nerd with a an interest in the Roman Empire and early Medieval Europe it's not about the money for this stuff it's about owning a piece of history Comment from : @tsparc2 |
