Hi Andrew this is a great video as they always are , I was recently in my local record shop when I couldn’t believe what I found a black and gold mono please please me with the correct sleeve for a bargain price , it sounds wonderful and is in great condition , it has the stampers 1T and 1GR on it , it also has a ink error on the 0 of PMC 1202 I just wondered if you knew anything about this particular pressing ? and if that would alter the value ?, I plan on keeping it as I am a Beatles fan and very much like knowing it was one of the pressings from back in the day , thank you again for the great videos , I did try to email but unfortunately the email didn’t send I may perhaps have the wrong address, cheers Comment from : @nigelbrooks6756 |
I started collecting beatles over the last 2 years brUsually i by brand new ones from hmv brI got a few from 2nd hand record shops for cheaper Comment from : @LeoDreweryMusic |

How much would selling 14 cds of Beatles discography be worth? Comment from : @mojopin1997 |
Another great and informative video, thank you so much Andrew! I'm personally more than prepared to expand my Beatles vinyl album collection with mono versions soon All the best from Finland and take care! Comment from : @ziccuj |
I loved this video It made me think of how much value does my collection havebrbrA little backstory: I'm from Chile and for my 16th birthday I recived the whole Beatles album catalog which happened to be the chilean versions of each individual albums (with some singles too, including an original 1967 chilean copy of the Magical Mystery Tour EP, in it's pure mono mix!) My only question, as I mentioned before, was the value of it I don't know exactly if Discogs is the right place to search the exact value this records may have nowadays If someone knows of a solution I would be so thankfulbrbrGlad to see that record collecting is now getting even more attention! Comment from : @fabilewinvildosola05 |
I found a Beatles Blue CD with tracks from the Red CD version Would this miss pressing be worth anything? Comment from : @arricammarques1955 |
I inherited a collection of first pressings from my grandfather who bought them just to listen to when he was young… and I will never sell them Homie don’t play like that Comment from : @arzabael |
Hi Andrew, my name is Anthony This is so cool, I just got into collecting Beatles vinyl and I don’t want to sell mine I just don’t know anything and have a lot to learn It’s exciting so thank you for contributing to the treasure quest Comment from : @arzabael |
For me, the twice a year record fair at Victoria in London is great, all my Beatles albums have come from theretheir solo albums all seem to be under a tenner too !!!! Comment from : @adrianmadden |
Thanks, that was interesting! Comment from : @michaelmiller641 |
What do you think about Argentinian pressings? Comment from : @Diegodesarmaysangra |
That rock n roll trio album can cost you thousands of dollars depending on the condition 2:01 Comment from : @javi__ |
There must be a middle ground Apple can reach At least put the mono UK albums on streaming services We are getting nice mono pressings with the box sets, but if you just want mono Revolver, it’s not happening! Even, say, a Record Store Day thing would at least be…trying? Comment from : @joelcrowservo |
Another excellent survey of the market, Andrew Thanks! - I adore the retro nods of the hat to old school films, including the flashes in the upper right corner of the frame that were used to indicate reel changes back in the day (I think we all saw that episode of Columbo back in the day) I've wondered what the red phone is for, and if you're planning on having it ring when something long hoped for is announced? 🎥☎ Comment from : @scottrmckinley |
I have all three Canadian albums Plus a Can't Buy Me Love single and a single that contains Thank You Girl I bought them all in the spring of 1964 They will never be for sale Not in the best condition, but that was because I did not know how to preserve them over the decades But all are first pressings that I bought at the local record store I don't think that I will get much for them But to me they are priceless Not secondhand Comment from : @Cove-o4d |
Glad you highlighted the difference between 100 analogue cuttings and those which are just mastered from digital brAny LP mastered in the UK since 1979 will have come from a digital source (a digital "cutting delay") - so I guess that would include those early 1980s box sets you mentioned Comment from : @EastLight07 |
Hello, Andrew I really enjoy the channel, especially the detailed research, creative approach, and warm cheer you bring to each of your videos I'm very glad that I subscribed Wishing you a Happy Holiday season and cheerful New Year Best, David Comment from : @mysongs6745 |
Although I’m certainly not selling my Y&T stereo second state butcher in the original shrink (I found it at a flea market for $40 twenty years ago!), it’s nice to know how I can find out what they are selling for nowadays Thanks Andrew!! Comment from : @SethRomano |
very interesting and informative Merry Christmas, Andrew ! Comment from : @MrRETEROROB |
3:21 Just a quick out of topic question How were you able to do those transitions? What kind of software do you use? I would love to do my own kind of videos with it! Comment from : @josephac1984 |
I think Apple should not refuse other companies who can license The Beatles tapes and make them widely available especially the mono locksets that would be really fantastic I feel like record companies should spread out their music so that it can be widely available to anyone who wants to hear it even those who have yet to discover the magic and wonder of the Beatles music Comment from : @jesserussell7242 |
Apple really needs to do a repressing of the mono boxer that would be fantastic Apple should do what they can to make all the fans happy including younger generations and fans like me who grew up on the Beatles back in the 1990s that was 11 years old Comment from : @jesserussell7242 |
I do wish that Apple records would repress the mono box that this is one of those box that’s what I’ve been looking forward to gettingbrbrI do think that tomato box that would be good to hear, and I think that there should be a way for Apple that no matter what product gets released they don’t get their fingers burnt especially whether it’s the mono vinyl box set or whatever the deal even though Apple won’t repress or re-issue the Beatles in mono box set from 2014 I will be looking for it and finding it one way or the other that’s one of the most fun things about treasure hunting I love the 20 nine mono box that which is great Comment from : @jesserussell7242 |
the weird taiwanese pressings of the beatles' album would make a great analysis because of how bizarre those albums were Comment from : @jadwigachrist |
I am certainly Wondering myself, so that Way I can add Insurance on the Lp's and 45's of the beatles No there or no Beatles For sale here The copies That are in my collection are on the US Capitol Label! Starting up a radio station is and has been a lot of work in between Medical and Making true remastered Copies for the radio brbrI am though Often Looking for new versions of Lp's and etc brbrbrI would Love to hire someone to do some work here but, I barely know anyone in this timy Town I would have to move from here Which was my plan Six years ago! but medical reason stopped that from being done! Comment from : @thethirdrail8397 |
Got a White Album, original first pressing, first day version, with the original label errors Dad, he said he waited in line for it, gift to my mum He said one day it would be worth somethingwell yes and no, I lost the photos of the band plus original record sleeves, played it lots, oh well, still got it shouldn't have touched it really as a kid Comment from : @patrickdunning9820 |
To my eternal regret I didn’t jump on the 2014 Mono box set I just bought Please Please Me and The White album individually brI would definitely love a mono box set Come on Apple think of us fans that have been supporting the the Beatles for a long long time Comment from : @stephenpitcher8755 |
Hi Andrew, another great informative video, thank you 😊 Comment from : @user-dc1dw2np1w |
I have a red and blue early pressing I asked you on your red and blue records I bought last week I played a few songs the music they and the Beatles can be hear faint in the back ground is this worth something and why this happened on my first Beatles records Comment from : @davidwilson7579 |
A very good video Have a Merry Christmas Comment from : @MrKaywyn |
I've got my BC13 with all but 2 still sealed :) Comment from : @MikeGervasi |
Do NOT peel a 3rd state 2nd state is far more rare now Comment from : @MikeGervasi |
Have you thought about doing a video on the uncut version of ANTHOLOGY? Comment from : @nigeldreiner |
You are correct - some Beatles stereo recordings/re-recordings are ATROCIOUS 😢 Comment from : @SpiritualPsychotherapyServices |
I had a Sgt Pepper's picture disc that I bought in KY in 1982 which was subsequently stolen I always wondered what it might be worth today Comment from : @timfurnier7061 |
Thanks for those great tips, Andrew! A few weeks ago I was able to buy an original UK first pressing of "Abbey Road" for less than US$50 (NM condition!) There I realized the differences between "internet" prices and "real life" prices Thank you very much for your contribution! Comment from : |
Dothe fake CDs and vinyl have bad quality audio ? Comment from : @Jazzybellshouse |
Great information, I never tried to sell any of my Beatles records Thanks for sharing Comment from : @RonaldBrown59 |
The most over Valued vinyl of all time, 😂😂 Comment from : @ben22329 |
It’s going to be interesting by the time we get to mid-century, or about 2050 All the Baby boomers will certainly be gone, and so will a good chunk of a few generations afterward Other than things like butcher covers, I think demand will have taken quite a hit But it’s not just Beatles; much Rock in general will be minimal value Comment from : @monaural2988 |
What about selling records at record fairs or record shows? Comment from : @jacobmarleyvinyl380 |
Andrew, I couldn't agree more with your statement about Apple refusing to let other companies license the tapes for further pressings! It would be so amazing if a company like Analogue Productions could put out some UHQR versions of the Beatles Mono records I do have the 2014 mono box and I really wish I would've bought 3 or 4 of them back when they were available on Amazon! That said, I'd still be interested in purchasing a reissued Hazel Yarwood -5 cutting of Rubber Soul, as an example We all know that there are many audiophile pressing companies out there that would love an opportunity to create top-notch pressings of the Beatles albums C'mon Apple make it happen Comment from : @errolfouquet7381 |
Wow!!! Thank you so much for all the info! Comment from : @IozziEric |
Value on anything is what someone is willing to pay for it, but I will say on ANYTHING, condition is everything Get the Introducing The Beatles price guide by Bruce Spicer? I think it's his last name Its awesome Comment from : @corymcewen5943 |
Great video AndrewbrI have a decent collection but still have a few gaps Good to know the value of what I have and what it might cost to get what I needbrHappy holidays Comment from : @edwardrussell5989 |
Another great video, thank you Andrew!brbrThe most important part of this video is the first 3 minutes So many people see a Beatles record and immediately think £££, even if it's a bog standard issue of Revolver that's been used as an ashtray Comment from : @cheffrey82 |
Thanks again Andrew!! I have had my Australian pressings since the mid 1970s - & wonder what they are worth Comment from : @TigerRogers0660 |
Good advice here, it parallels what I've learned in many decades of collecting and dealing I'm from an area that turned up a lot of US butcher covers over the years I use to find them fairly regularly, about one a year I was talking to a dealer who said so many of them have been peeled now that the numbers of nice clean unpeeled ones are dwindling and these will eventually rival the price of a peeled one Comment from : @Texeq |
GREAT topic! Thanks for sharing this Comment from : @davidg2122 |
I got burned on a fake German magical mystery tour, yellow colored vinyl spent $60 on it Sounded horrible, but the shop let me return it! They didn’t realize it was a fake till I explained it to them Comment from : @Ben2D |
My mom dated a guy whose father owned and ran a record store She still has her 1st State Stereo vinyl It's probably VG, but it plays fine for how it looks It's actually my mother's favorite Beatles "album" The guy that gave it to her died young in a motorcycle wreck So it's special in many ways The record is a true 1st state copy Comment from : @williamthompson5504 |
Young beatles fan here crying out for mono pressings! Just starting my mono collection though the prices of decent copies can be quite daunting Comment from : @sebastianfischer2082 |
Thanks for the info on these fab albums! I find Seventies and Eighties Beatles repressings in stereo are a relatively economical way to collect the analogues Comment from : @franco426 |
Wish apple would give those 2014 Mono pressings another go Was way younger (and not into the beatles at the time) and simply didnt know of its existence at the time Now that im older and a little more wiser, i wish i would've gotten it Would've loved to have it as a centerpiece to my collection Great video <3 Comment from : @vekunin4472 |
Just want to add my rant to record companies that press far too few records of new releases and creating a lucrative market for the flippers out there Creating limited editions and making it very difficult for real fans to buy their favourite music is rather frustrating Record Store Day has turned into a lottery nowadays I saw on Facebook flippers selling numbered Taylor Swift records for thousands of $$$$ Comment from : @tonyfox7510 |
I do agree that the mono albums should be repressed again And while we're at that, why not release the original mono albums on streaming platforms too? Those who can't afford physical media take solace in streaming services It's so annoying to listen to the stereo albums (especially the early ones) with headphones/earphones on Also, if mono was the preferred format of the band, why haven't they released them on streaming? I don't want to resort to piracy just to listen to their mono albums Comment from : @markrobert9915 |
Something I've found buying on eBay that helps is using the Watch List Many times I've had sellers offer me mark downs when I have their stuff on my Watch List, sometimes only 10 off but sometimes it's a substantial markdown Comment from : @ChromeDestiny |
Thank you, Andrew, as always I have away most of my vinyl when’s CD versions were available, so there are a couple of great records I lostbrI did want to comment on the “generational” element First, as you know, many vastly underestimate The Beatles’ influence on a young crowd On the other hand, that same “young crowd” (my children), don’t seem to care about medium Music has, frankly, become a microwave experience (“I want to hear artist X and their (sic) new tune was quickly as possible brAs for buying what folks are selling, I enjoy that I’d rather pay, for example , $100 for a mono Revolver in good shape than wait for EMI to repent and issue a new (demixed and remixed?) box set Comment from : @theshivers1967 |
I have a couple of UK french contract pressings from early-mid 70's (Help! and White Album) Are those considered to be as good as the ones made and sold in UK? Comment from : @fbt25 |
Great episode as usual, Andrew!!! Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas! - Roger Comment from : @48musicfan |
Thanks for an informative video! I found it pretty interesting that in UK, many brick & mortar stores rarely stock any 70s-80s UK pressings of The Beatles Either there are overpriced good condition OG pressings, or (slightly less) overpriced trashed OG pressings, or, if even those cannot be obtained, current reissuesbrThere is a far better chance getting Beatles 70s UK pressings in the wild in Germany than in the UK, it seems Comment from : @TheHutt |
The 2014 mono releases are still worth it I wait for something to pop up in the 50-70 dollar range and jump on it I only have three left before I’ve got the whole lineup Buying them one at a time they don’t feel like such a massive amount of money Comment from : @sethallison5682 |
On Ebay I found the revolver withdraw mix in one of the bid that I won for just 1700 eurosin very good condition! didnt know about it because there was only one picture of the front cover and stop so I was just amazed when the b side matrix was -1 Comment from : @sz80 |
If I'd kept my original collection I'd have lots of valuable stuff Comment from : @ADAMSIXTIES |
Hello Parlo gram another well informal video Love these videos I am building a nice Beatles UK LP collection Comment from : @jordangassman2595 |
Yeah, I was almost fooled by one of those Facebook ads I stopped myself at the last minute and was glad I did Comment from : @joeblevins1061 |
We are downsizing so, I have just gifted and shared out my beloved Beatles vinyl ; To my son ; To my friend's wonderful daughter and a few others; To charity I feel that this is the best Valuation I have ever made Comment from : @ginghamtc5973 |
A friend has a Capitol We Can Work It Out / Day Tripper 45 The labels are normal One side of the 45 (I forget which) plays the correct song The other side was pressed with Nat King Cole's song Too Young Comment from : @markmccauley9120 |
Wow another informative video Handsome I wasn't aware of the worth on some of these albums Comment from : @SQDLVR |
Do you think they will ever release the US albums on vinyl in my lifetime 😅😅 Comment from : @cezarmaatubang8236 |
Hey Andrew, love your channel I totally agree with you on it being a good time to just start a vinyl collection if you’re looking for regular condition records I bought a turntable this fall and was able to get all of the Capitol records in decent shape for about $10 a record Comment from : @dnryn1234 |
I believe that the mono albums being included in the super deluxe box sets is what kills any chance of the 2009/2014 set to be reissued or at least put on streaming Maybe new box sets will be made once the albums have all been remixed? Comment from : @flippy7035 |
Hi Andrew Great video as usual Having owned both the BM10 and the BC13 box sets since the early 80s and most others from the mid to late 70s, I have a pretty vast collection Once CDs became the popular media of choice in the late 80s, I mostly stopped buying Beatles vinyl with a few exceptions (ie Anthology series I bought on vinyl and immediately put into storage unopened) Shame on me! At that time I put my turntable away and all my vinyl, Beatles mostly but lots of other non-Beatles as well Fortunately I had the foresight to put them all in plastic outer sleeves to protect them early on Whenever I moved to a new location over a year ago, I of course brought them with me, untouched since probably 1990 and still in immaculate condition Bought a new high end TT and have been enjoying them immensely ever since I have added around 50 LPs to it in the past 12 months as well (mostly Beatles, but not all) Comment from : @jimhines5145 |
13:39 - Those warning captions about fake CD's & LP's (reminiscing of old horror movie titles) are just fantastic!brAlso, excellent, informative and helpful video Comment from : @01real1 |
I check out how much my In Mono 2014 vinyl box set is worth on a regular basis, and it's around 1,200-1,400 € in mint, unplayed condition That's the condition of my box set I paid 300 € for it back in 2014 or 2015, shipping included, but I won't sell it I just love it Comment from : @CollapsingRealities |
Another great video I look forward to them every Sunday I was 7 when the Beatles invaded America My "most valuable" album (which I still have) is the 1964 mono release of the Second Album I still get chills when the needle drops on "Roll Over Beethoven" Despite being almost 60 years old and covered with scratches, it still sounds amazing Comment from : @nowhereman725_ |
A fascinating video, Andrew, of how to grade, value and sell records! I have a few UK vinyl copies of Beatles singles, EPs and albums but I'm not looking to sell any of them so for me it's Beatles Not For Sale! Comment from : @nicknikipediacaulkin5943 |
Always very helpful your video Andrew ! Comment from : @luisu2kite |
Aside, has anyone ever mentioned the brilliant 'cigarette burns' at the end of each chapter? I love your eye for detail 👍 Comment from : @rienpost |
