I love your content! I had Chinese immigrant neighbours years sgo I loved them! I was invited for tea and was so interested seeing how they lived! Almost no furniture, their fridge held only basic meat and vegetables Very sparse kitchen cupboards As opposed to my overstuffed homei was a poor single mother They had several little ones Within a few years they sold their house and bought in a nicer neighborhoodcash! They opened a restaurant and bought a new carcash all of their children worked at the store They were amazing! I was in awe of how they lived Unfortunately i had north american attitude about money from my family borrow borrow borrowyour house is your bank and i eventually lost my home I so wish i learned from them Fast forward to now My husband and I adopted the Ramsey Solutions concept of Baby Steps to get out of debt and live below our means We live on 50of income Save the rest! It is not too late to change! The North American lifestyle is so wasteful and sadly, not smart!

Cost to buy, per year After 15 years the per year buy cost of my $20k car is less than 1,500 Contrast a co worker who buys a new car in 5 year finance, every five years His repayments are $6k a year He has spent 75k over the same 15 years my buy cost was 20 Needless to say he struggles to pay any bills and does not have a single spare rent/mortgage payment in the bank

Part of it is also my parents generation didnt even have enough to survive, and that just reinforced them to agreesively save after spending for the bare minimum to survive They taught me to DIY almost everything instead of buying Now i have a mindset that i never focus on my saving rate or have a saving goal, instead i bascially evaluate every single decision intensively whats the cheaper way of doing it Its tiring even though im already wired this way and its a natual process for me Now im learning to unwire that mindset so that i set a budget and not to evaluate every single decision intensively Its hard, on this relearning journey for a couple of years

difficult to save in the US when everything is too expensive especially rent which should not be more than one week of your monthly salary but for many it is 3 weeks salary and in some cases two peoples 3 week salary combined it is mind boggling; No control
