I’m 65 now, but new math had started in my school I had a cruel 3rd grade teacher who called me stupid and semi abused me My parents couldn’t figure out the math & they were smart I failed math all through school and it changed my life course because of it 😢

They both did the math problem using the same math, although a different technique The kid understands more about why he's doing it, each time he does it, than a person doing it the quick way and following a process but not distinguishing between 1's and 10's, or realizing why At least the kid can show his work; and he's using a white board When I was a third grader, 57 hears ago, they had us gluing fingers representing ones and tens on the hands of a stick man, and that worked too

I'm 69 years old, and when I was in 6th grade my teachers sent me to summer school because they said that I couldn't do multiplication and division It wasn't that I wasn't getting the correct answers, I was, it was because my father had taught me a simpler way that worked for me As long as he can prove his work, leave the kids alone Teachers need to stop trying to complicate everything Her way is so much easier
