Whaaat!? I remember you from The National Guitar Workshop in Connecticut 🤣 You’re awesome!👏🏼 Comment from : @vicharelly |
You should dial the amp in on the neck pickup, that way it won't sound flubby, because you can always dial down tone with the guitar but it's impossible to add tone Comment from : @JoeMasse-e4b |
Your "not too bright" sounded like an icepick into my ears 😏 Comment from : @LouisA-q3r |
I have a question, why sometimes the amp sounds good in the even mic’ed with the sound coming out of the PA sounds good but recorded (hearing in other monitors or headphone ) it sounds too harsh, thin and lacking gain? Comment from : @Renato_Cara |
Hello, why did you put your guitar in input 2 And not in input 1 It is a completely different sound? Greetings Marnik my English is not so good hopefully I formulated it well Comment from : @marnikbulckaert4186 |

Bass leave that for the drums Comment from : @LuminousSoliloquy |
Lol, you need two amps here with line out or a a/b switch Top amp is a normally guitar amp, dial it in with little bass around 2 or 3 The bottom amp is a normal bass amp, dial it in but cut the treble down to 2 or 3! Get a good clean tone, now hook up your peddles, you will have a killer tone! No rocket science here but loads of fun! Comment from : @wesleysnipes9454 |
Yup, I usually find sweet spot of a new amp like that Live I will reduce bass and treble, compared to home I always have an always on pedal in front of my clean amp to create edge of breakup and some compression/sag when I dig in In my case the combo is a REVV D25 with WGS Two Rock speaker (don’t like V30 high end fizzle) It’s incredible My always on is the ODD Pedal (OCD clone) On my HSS I can go from cleanish to nice driven without touching the board Comment from : @bruunm1975 |
So just play a guitar through an amp? It's almost as though people haven't been doing this since the 40s Comment from : @chrisbannister3115 |
Excellent advice from Eddie Berman at SoundPure here in Durham as each guitar & each amp have different sweet spots & sonically are very different! Comment from : @fourthofseven |
Ka-knobs?😮 Comment from : @TomSarracino |
Good stuff! Comment from : @rb032682 |
I honestly think this was not useful at allbrPlus the clean tone would sound good to you in a bedroom level, but in a small show or probably even mic'ed, there's a lot of low end in there and it would not sound good live You won't be heard, it cant just cut through properly Comment from : @DominiqueWillkins |
Would the process be the same if the only thing I can play is palm muted open strings on my 7-string guitar tuned in drop G? Asking for a friend… Comment from : @jb7544 |
That Heritage sounds amazing Comment from : @fmarkow |
Who cares about a clean channel ? They all sound the same Comment from : @AJ99 |

Is there another way to adjust the tone? What is the secret? What is the trick? I am sure everyone do the same thing I couldn't understand what is the point Comment from : @barskuleli8612 |
Looks like you use the G & D strings to set up the sound which is a good idea Also, using the bridge p/u as well Makes sense! Comment from : @JRandHisGuitar |
That guitar is on my radar Comment from : @rickflippin1 |
Well I gotta say, that was the nicest clean jazz tone, especially your neck pickup stuff, that I've heard on YouTube since I don't know when Makes we wish I'd kept my old ES-345 too Comment from : @MystTeriGuitar |

So the trick is - fiddle with the knobs until you think it sounds good? Comment from : @Rick-5728 |
Thanks Danial for simple explanation on finding your guitar and or amp sound! I enjoyed that your lesson was brief, to the point and filled with common sense br I do have a desperate question which I don’t know if you could help me out Over the last year of my life my race with arthritis has finally caught up with me and I’m having an extreme amount of difficulty soloing as well as making chords I need to find another approach for playing my beloved instrument, but it’s been frustrating and demoralising My once five finger spread is relegated to only three frets as my fingers become twisted and numb br Most guitar videos are centred around young players, speed and establish patterns, but tend to overlook the ageing player and their limitations,, yes we’re all headed there one day When playing chords if possible I would love to have a fuller sound using simpler chord forms I don’t know if this makes any sense, most YouTuber’s anyway just ignore my plea, but any help would be appreciated Comment from : @craigsphilhower8505 |

Not sure what Fender Tone stack circuit is actually used in the Hot Rod Deluxe but folks t the treble knob doesn't "boost treble like you would think Comment from : @stephancarroll7260 |
Hot Rod Deluxe is an excellent amp I bought one in 1997 and the amp is still in regular use Comment from : @TheFretwrecker |
Maybe this is for the person who just bought they're first amp , I would have expected anyone playing longer than 3 days would have figured this out Comment from : @GTguitarworks |
Many thanks for your efforts and help with this information ❤ Comment from : @jockster5525 |
The Fender Hotrod Deluxe is a pretty good sounding amp I was pretty surprised the first time I used one Comment from : @Rocksoup77 |
Good content Thanks for the tips Comment from : @MichaelHios |
That was a good 10 min investment! I agree, the hot channel on that amp suxlol brI have always started my amp eq settings at noon, and bring the volume up to the venue level and tweak from there I’m gonna try your “bring it up from the bottom” approach I have a feeling that might help “read the room” a little better sonically brFantastic tone you were getting…very sweetbrThanks for posting Comment from : @bigl6322 |
Hi, just found your video today and wow was it helpful Loved the way you explain and demo everything Simple and to the point Can't wait to get home and try this I am using a fender Blues Jr IV An a Gamma G50 which I really like, it a simple no frills 2 Channel amp with 3-knob eq Bass Mids Treble I am definitely going to subscribe to your channel and give this video a like Comment from : @blazemoyer |
why you use the input 2 and not the input 1? Comment from : @fer_mnss |
Great videoWish I saw it sooner When do you address gain? Comment from : @ajphotoltd |
Thanks man, this really simplifies things, cause tone can be a bitch to chase Cheers! Comment from : @alexsafronov1417 |
I think every guitar players ideal tone is what they hear in their head No one should sound the same, unless they want to sound or mimic, copycat their favorite band or guitarist Comment from : @jasonhammond6592 |
"That second channel is a no go" I like this guy's delivery Funny, but gets the idea across with casual authority Comment from : @jayeye4798 |
I remember Matt Schofield doing the same on a That Pedal Show episode a while back, good tips Comment from : @MiniForklift |
The second channel is great You just have to have the volume past 3, which is for most home players way too loud If you're doing a video on how to get the best sound from your amp, getting the best sound from the second channel is what you should have done? Comment from : @darrenc8776 |
Amazing Video !! Thanks for creating this and sharing it Hope you're doing well 🎸 Comment from : @RikJSmith |
Good video…for rockers, turn the freakn gain down, gain is not tone, quite the opposite,…for super heavy metal, death metal, grindcore, nu metal, down tuned etc…there’s no hope,…to play that you must, and will, have a shit tone Comment from : @jakelee7639 |
Hi Daniel! What do you do this method with the bridge pickup ? brbrI use the neck pickup 90 of the time , why should we start with the bridge one?brbrThanks!!brLeo Comment from : @leogeller3662 |
Very nice, thanks for this Amazing how much difference a small tweek can make! :-) Comment from : @oldbluesboy |
Totally wrong Bass at 3:00, treble at 2:00, mids at 9:00 Presence at 2:00 or 3:00 if you have it Through a compressor, an overdrive, and an analog delay pedal Comment from : @mojolightnin6846 |
I feel like you could have just said "Start with a clean sound and all your EQ knobs on 0 Bring in each EQ knob one at a time until they all sound good together The end Comment from : @halholbrookspussy |
I would love to see you revisit this video with an amp that is a true clunker like a Peavy revolution for example I have one and i cant find a good tone from it Its all volume and no nuance Hopefully you'll except my challenge Comment from : @stevenpipes1555 |
Great video brother Comment from : @michaelfink1017 |

Also those fenders can be modified easy with resistor kit and other electronic upgrades I’ve done it for my hot rod Deville Comment from : @benbonesalive |
I didn't know Ruxin played guitar!! Comment from : @ChrisandDanielMusic |
You need the reverb brFoot switch to shut it off Comment from : @benbonesalive |
I recommend stating with the neck pickup as it tends to be booomier compared to the bridge pickup You can always roll back the tone on the bridge pickup to optimize the treble Comment from : @guitarman430 |
Thanks for the guidance! Comment from : @Mike_Ums |
Dude that recap at the end was genious You probably knew we would be picking on the guitar while watching and missing most of it Instant sub!!! Great playing guy Comment from : @joelsmith4816 |

I like the overdrive on the deluxe You can get a great overdrive tone Comment from : @shabich817 |
