Personally, I have a passion for learning languages, especially Italian I love this language so much It's so beautiful and systematic at the same time Italian culture and cuisine motivate me to practice it I was obliged to learn English by the Thai Ministry of Education, saying it is very important to learn this language If you don't know it, you'll lose job opportunities in the future Sometimes, we lose a good chance to learn other languages

I speak Dutch, German (both native), I speak fluent English, and I can speak French I am learning Zulu and I know a little bit of Italian and Spanish (by the way, I'm 15 years old and dyslectic So if I can speak those languages with my dyslexia and age, Y'all can do it too!)

the government put in a rule that you have to learn at least 1 language for gcse if you get certain grades, which is fair enough I've been learning French for 4 years (I would have chosen Spanish but I didn't get to choose) and still can't hold a conversation My exams are in 7 months so I need to start learning NOW lol

Definitely agree with go with what you're interested in Most of my students who grow the fastest do just that On top of that I'd add focus: I'm interested in tons of stuff, but I find that when I hone in on just one or two things (like, say, learning how to talk about my job or playing a particular game) I grow a lot faster

I also agree with focusing on a niche area When I was learning my first second language, Spanish, I focused on the fashion industry I love fashion and it made learning the language fun and it allowed the words to stick I was able to start reading fashion blogs and magazines in Spanish at a much quicker pace and a lot sooner Againbuild language confidence

I think that building quick confidence is a key factor As boring as it might seem, learning how to introduce and talk about yourself in your target language helps to build quick language confidence as these are words that are most likely to stick at first
