This video is not just about lasers but also back up iron sights I recently dropped one of my rifles and when I did a red dot co-witness check with the back up sights they weren't lined up anymore The Midwest Industries handguard had shifted on the barrel nut because I had ran out of the sleeve locking compound that it came with The sleeve locking compound that you can get from the auto parts store will glue the handguard to the barrel nut Rock Solid

This is Why I dont like the clamp on design, like midwest,BCM, CMT, Geissele etc I prefer the bolt designs thats used with the NSR for example Superslim and light rail, but still very stiff and bomb proof simple design

I've actually grouped better with flip up magpul pro irons on my 16in AERO M4E1 enhanced 15in rail than I have with a standard fixed A2 20in rifle Aero rails really are underrated Only other I'd choose is a DD RIS II if aero made one similar I'd be first in line to run it

Zev technology created a wedge lock handguard and it has a pin that connects to the upper receiver to prevent flex and unzeroing, you can even take it off and put it back and it'll hold

V7 and Noveske make barrel nut handguard systems like the ALG I run an older Daniel Defense FSP 95 on an 115 So far that has been the best system I have used to mitigate creeping of the handguard

I've always sneered at and been confused why the clamp on/Friction fit rails became industry standard All my ARs are either timed quadrail deals, monolithic uppers or have some variation of the Aero Enhanced Rail design

Railed gas block is probably your best bet for a mounting solution that will never move over time or with load It'll get hot though

Light weight rails due have its downside such as durability and rail flex especially when loaded The ALG rails biggest downside is the way they clocked their M Lok sections IMHO they should have went with the standard 12/3/6/9 configuration

The geissele mk16 rail has screws at the bottom that you tighten against the receiver If you locktight them in theres 0 way that shit will rotate/ shift

Aero uses a direct bolt system on their fat rails The quantum and what ever their original rail was Timing the nut was required They’re huge and heavy nuts but solid AF

The vseven rails are just like the old ALG's They're fantastic! They have several to choose from in different materials and lengths I chose the enlightened one with titanium barrel nut You don't need shims, but you need a torque wrench and adjust it between 25 and 75 ft/lbs until the screws line up

I wonder why barrel mounted rails do not enjoy at least some popularity when it comes to aiming devices like lasers I guess space concerns are an issue and it not really being a big deal if your laser isn't totally spot on also matters

Daniel M4 style rails, while friction fit, are pretty damn robust They directly clamp to the nuts axially instead of relying on circumferential friction with a few screw pushing at the top or bottom The MFR rails use 4 grade 10 bolts and the MK18 and M4 rails use 6 Aero and Larues ARE bombproof, albeit a bit yesteryear and chunky

Thoughts on Larue uppers? They've got a proprietary handguard and upper which bolt together Not sure if this would be considered monolithic but if not they definitely come close
