I can tell a counterfeit with my eyes closed Was trained many years ago when I used to work for a bank It's something you never forget When I worked retail, I'd tell my bosses not to take a $20, $50, or $100, as it's fake They all would ignore me the first time Two days later after the bank notice, they would have me verify everything Counterfeit money is getting way to good The best I have ever seen was at my sister in laws garage sale a few years back It almost fooled me because the paper felt genuine, the ink raised, even the bar under black light The only reason I caught on, was the buyer, tried getting my kids and sister in law, to break one, by singling them out by trying to make it look like they were buying from two different sellers Told my sister in law to let me check the $100 bills out, which passed the above tests It was when I asked if they wanted me to break two large bills, that when he took out a wad of $100s, that I got a glimpse of the top, and one under it as well, and told him to get lost, which got my kids and sister in law upset at first due to loss of sales As I explained it, the guy ran The serial numbers were identical No two bills ever have the same serial # He ran leaving the fake one behind, which I turned in, and even the bank manager was impressed She looked it up to find it was bad Something interesting when it comes to fake money the movies use The fake has its own protections in as well For instance, the words printed on it that show its fake, don't show up during recording I used to think they edited that out

If someone figured this out and just went crazy printing money, couldn't they orchestrate a global meltdown by effectively inducing a mass currency devaluation? brbrMoney is actually created out of thin air when banks create loans (this is how quantitative easing works, when central banks manipulate the money supply by buying debt, eg government bonds) , however the synthetic creation of PHYSICAL money creates a very different problem because it creates liquid money (banknotes) but no debt is assigned to it
