Having owned an MX5, SLK, Boxster and 911 Driven many other sports car Just buy the MX5/Miata It's going to give you the least heart ache and the most smiles There's a reason they've survived when all the others struggled or died offbrbrI promise you that there's an MX5 driver that's faster than you on track, autocross etc When you have one of the faster cars Just get the Miata

It's years later and here in Canada it's hard to find any of these cars in roadable condition for 8000 usd after a casual glance at auto trader's web site, but this series has inspired me to look around and I'm not far from Detroit so I can look over there also

I actually think all these cars are cool and I would love to have a clean MR2 If you are buying a cheap used sports car for fun, you really need to consider the cost to own it My choice here would be the Miata They have proven to be extremely reliable and they have by far the most aftermarket support and parts availability Ownership of a Miata becomes somewhat of a passion and it's hard to say that about most cars

The Z4 in this video does not appear to have the "sport" button, or the M-Sport suspension Get a 1st-gen Z4 with the M-Sport suspension, which I believe includes the sport button (Haven't see one without the other) The M-Sport also comes with 18-in wheels vs 17 The sport button changes the throttle mapping to be more aggressive, and gives a little more weight, and therefore feel, to the steering Ditch the run-flats for proper tires (I really like the Continental Maximum Contact), and the Z4 becomes a much more direct and definitely non-squishy car when coupled with the M-Sport enhancements And it's a lot more fun, especially on tight twisty roads

Hmmm, I had this generation Miata, and I was underwhelmed with its handling and steering It had tons of body roll, very soft suspension, vague steering feel It just didn't wow me after all these people say it's a such a great small car Ive also had a Mini S as a small car, and that thing is way more engaging to drive The Miata feels like a normal compact car, like a corolla, just with no roofbrbrWhen I sold it to a Focus ST owner, he said, I bet this thing handles so well And in all honesty, I told him his Focus probably handles way better

I just bought a 2004 9862 It has full saddle leather interior and a 5sp manual The colour is Carmona red metallic It is my 7th car, yes I have a problem to normal people, but car nuts understand I'm completely blown away by the quality of the car The sound and handling are great I paid significantly more than the prices paid here, but 2 years after this review, prices for Boxsters are going up Loved this review

Save your money and buy an R172 SLK 350 I have owned most of the cars in this list plus many others including an e type and f type jaguar, my slk 350 is amazing and ridiculously cheap , reliable whether driving country lanes, mountain roads or crossing a continent

Honestly there is a balance between power and the handling I’ve driven a miata, yes it is fun But it is underpowered Too underpowered for me I drove a z3 28 afterwards and while it felt a bit more cumbersome, it was far more enjoyable with that straight 6

I owned only two cheap fun roadsters A Z3 and a 986 They have completely different characteristics, however me and the boys loved them both to bits I bought them when my first son finished secondary school and we kept it for more than 10 years as daily rides I maintained them on my own with very little help from service centers Our Z3 achieved 400 000 km's and eventually as the kids left house the previous owner (a lawyer) bought it back Still have the immaculate Boxster Hardly a day's issues and glorious fun to own Whilst I was a member of the Porsche Club, we tracked them often At top speed, the Z3 is a hand full with typical scuttle shake due to short wheel base and I never replaced rubber bushings The Boxster, with some 225000 km's is still just mind blowing Handling still superb and steady as an arrow As I'm now retired and the kids are gone, I can't see ever selling the Boxster, although I miss still shed a tear longing for my fire engine red Z3 Love from Africa
