Acetone is better and it evaporates off the surface of the coin Use a Q-tip dipped in acetone to softly swab over the coin surface to remove contaminants and brighten a silver or gold or copper coin

another "cleaning" method is to use VINEGAR !! you can soak a coin for MONTHS and it'll never ruin the coin why? it has no chemicals use a Q-tip to remove the unwanted junk rinse it in the kitchen sink pat dry with a 100 cotton towel

What is the purpose of the foil? Just to protect the bowl? I would just use a throw away plastic bowl, or an empty butter tub (after washing it out completely) But if the foil serves some OTHER purpose, please advise
