I remember buying prophecy boosters when they came out, people said rhystic study was terrible card, so, like many of my cards, they sat in bulk card boxes for years When I came back to magic to build some edh decks, I had 4 of them just waiting And I had also found 3 mystic remoras that my cousin gave me when I first started playing magic in the late 90s, also sitting in bulk card boxes because the card was 'no good' Lol Comment from : @defilerphil |
What on earth is going on with the alpha llanowar elves picture? Comment from : @samuelrussell5760 |
Hello seem to make any sense You can’t add money to a comment Comment from : @mellisianewton6941 |
Dark ritual is one of the best cards in the game in my opinion Any black deck needs a copy Comment from : @TheSilvertrigger |
Poor old Maze of Ith used to hold the title, but has been bumped out of the top “10” Comment from : @barrywade3774 |
Army of Allah arabic reprint when? Comment from : @Kaspar502 |
I am lucky enough to own an alpha Lance Comment from : @isaiahsmith8379 |
The most expensive commons I ever bought were Sinkholes They were over $15 each in 2008, still are and should be over remora Comment from : @blazingelse9104 |
Its funny that Lotus Petal is actually common I had one of those when I was younger and I assumed it was a rare and was from an old set before they implemented the color coordination for card rarities on the symbols Comment from : @tym6217 |
I think this list would be better if it is stuck in common and there is no cheap alternative to it Comment from : @AnimEva_33 |
So much cheaper to buy fake cards 🙏 Comment from : @GigaBoost |
The moment when you realize that in your old MtG boxes that you aren't using since 2004 there are 4x Rhystic Study 😎
brI loved playing that card even back 15 years ago, when EDH wasn't even a thing Comment from : @TheDarkever |
Force of will? Comment from : @x_chaos_x |
I still remember using lotus petals as card backs for proxies i printed 😅 i used to have so many but now i only have maybe 3 left Comment from : @armageddon28 |
Good stuff Comment from : @rayk5785 |
So a long while back when I was first getting into Magic back around the first Kamigawa block I went to one of the comic book stores and bought some of the lowest priced packs they had It was from a set that wasn't so popular and people considered it one of the worst set ever: Prophecy I ended up getting about 7 packs and in 5 of them I got Rhystic Study Comment from : @jettblade |
Cost of these are hilarious, I remember when the lotus petal came out and people thought it was junk My friends threw them into trades to help the value and now I have two pages of them in my trade binder Comment from : @newtpondskipper |
JFC this dude has the standard basement neckbeard voice Comment from : @coreyjames7297 |
Good video overall! I'd suggest that the parameters for a video like this are that you list the ten Commons most expensive in their most accessible form Maybe limiting it to playables also, as nobody's clicking to see Rukh Egg, etc Comment from : @CommanderBazaar |
Why are you shouting throughout the video? Comment from : @Zatzzo |
I think it would be interesting to mention the lowest price of the cards shown if you don't care about the printing This would indicate clearly whether a card is only valuable because of the set it's from (ex : llanowar elves) or because it's powerful Comment from : @gus3000spam |
thanks for this ive been given a trunk full of commons from old sets, a few of these mentions is betweem them, time to dig it up Comment from : @Foozefighter |
I have many of those Not playsets, but like one or two Comment from : @schwarzerritter5724 |
Great channel! Can you please reach out to Dev and show him how important writing and editing is? Comment from : @jamesh3267 |
ofc secret lair reprint on the first card Comment from : @benjames8211 |
I really love the history around these that you were able to explain I wonder, would a "most expensive commons" theme still work if you added a release date restriction, like specifying Modern format? Comment from : @Tera_GX |
You should do the most expensive non-land cycles It would be fun to see that Comment from : @MrSilasAC |
Army of Allah won me my first ever MTG tournament It was just before Tempest dropped, and I ran White Weenie Comment from : @scythe0925 |
And just like that, Remora got a re-print That's pretty funny Comment from : @legitzkrieg |
Got my 2 petal when I open tempest way back it's first released, I remembered it's already top 10 best card of tempest The 2 other petal I bought when edh is becoming popular and mtg recognized it Now lotus petal is very expensive Comment from : @bushido8077 |
I feel fortunate to own a couple of Lotus Petals Unfortunately, even though I have a number of Prophecy cards, it would seem that I don't own a single Rhystic Study, and that's very disappointingbrbrAlso, I was expecting Utopia Sprawl to be on this list at first, but I guess these 10 you showed off were even more expensive than that Comment from : @SomeGuy712x |
Can you please do a video about the most played card from every set? Comment from : @hughcurliss1217 |
Let’s play a game here in the comments: what’s the most expensive magic card you own? And what’s the most expensive card you owned but don’t anymore? I genuinely want to know: Comment from : @daniduc |
I'd personally count the cheapest version of each card for lists like this Otherwise, like you say, it'll mostly be old cards that are simply hard to find I really like the new top 10 idea though! Comment from : @chrismarlow9585 |
Chain lighting was always pretty great and valuable Comment from : @ironreed2654 |
$1599 for a bird exterminator seems pretty inexpensive Comment from : @xshortguy |
You should do a list ordered by price to points ratio, so a card with 1 point for $20 is ranked higher than a card with 100 points for $1500 Basically, the most over priced cards Comment from : @alexmoskowitz811 |
I think you forgot about morticians beetle Comment from : @Valgyan |
Chain Lightning was also in the “Fire and Lightning” Premium Deck Comment from : @Matt-qp1ek |
testament to black lotus's power that a card that's literally just 1/3rd of it is still stupid busted powerful Comment from : @fo-ef8qo |
All this video showed was how much card kingdom tries to scrap people Comment from : @latinojackson9694 |
Alpha Lightning bolt: $950brM10 Lightning Bolt: $129brAlpha Llanowar Elves: $550brEMA Llanowar Elves: $029brAlpha Dark Ritual: $430brThe List Dark Ritual: $069brbrI'm sure ending the reserve list will absolutely destroy pricesbr/s Comment from : @fatpad00 |
I would also add that the lack of reprints either actual or functional reprints would affect a common rarity card's valuer but perhaps not so much as other factors Comment from : @autobotjazz1972 |
Lotus Petal is why Pauper Cycle Storm is one of the most expensive decks in the format, as it runs 4 of them for >$100 Also, Oubliette sees a lot of player in EDH not for efficiency but because it can remove an opponent's commander without allowing them to put it back in their command zone Comment from : @littlel9906 |
What about a video with the most played card (or top 3) from each set? Maybe the most expensive print of the set Comment from : @diegoblin9090 |
since when is snuff out so high? i bouhgt like 6 copies in 2018 for cents Comment from : @RockmeHellsing |
Whenever I look at rhystic study and how big it became plus it’s price and how many in bulk I had when it came out is crazy to think about Comment from : @tonythepokemonguy751 |
You should do a top 10 most expensive basic lands! Comment from : @AngryBob4213 |
Love that old school Urza Mine with the goblin creature in the cart Comment from : @martinithechobit |
Sinkhole was at around $70 before its Masters reprint Now it's down to about $6 Comment from : @thecrazycapn |
Green has a Lotus Petal that only produces green, and another like that can kick in from your opening hand Both can also be used as lacklustre green creatures Comment from : @alan2here |
Cable Ritual seems not bad even without the threshold :) Even being a 2 for onebrbr"bb", cable, "bbb", spend those 3 mana on permanents Comment from : @alan2here |
Damn, I need to dig through my old boxes I know I have at least one Lotus Petal, and maybe a couple of Alpha/Beta commons Comment from : @radiantrealms |
I remember getting my Lotus Petals for 7$ for my pauper deck, and I thought that was very expensive for a common Now it’s three times as much! Comment from : @keithstolz1106 |
So my dumbass 9 year old self in 1993 was playing a 5 color trash deck worth like 20k Comment from : @Divinevert |
When I got into Commander, I was so confused by why Rhystic Stufy was so expensive I just had two Korean ones in my bulk 😂 Comment from : @crawdaddy1234 |
Fun reminder:treasures are Lotus Petal tokens Comment from : @Liliana_the_ghost_cat |
Please do more! Comment from : @jerryherring3771 |
Ornothopter hit $125 or more for the masterpiece in Kaladesh Don't know if that brakes the list rules tho Comment from : @camerons6028 |
Can we get a video on top ten one mana artifacts, or one mana non-creature artifacts Comment from : @stigmaoftherose |
I liked this video, tho I would have liked a list with the least expensive version of the card, not the most Comment from : @angeloottolini7412 |
Wow can't believe the price of Lotus Petal I remember getting 4 copies of that card in my local game store back in the late 90s for like under a dollar! Comment from : @R3N3GADEMUFFIN |
When you realize a pile of cabal rituals is just sitting there being worth over 100$brStill into the deck it goes! Comment from : @j-lohome-slice7425 |
I really enjoy the pricing ones because I play a lot of commander I also have to thank you You have def upped my limited play and card evaluating Comment from : @zs7992 |
I was expecting to see Daze Comment from : @rogerstewart5525 |
Army of Allah is probably expensive because people thought it would get banned like the other "non-PC" cards Comment from : @Ixidora |
Cackling with laughter about the idea of trying to publish a card named Army of Allah in 2022, oh jeez Comment from : @lachlank8270 |
Army of Allah was frequently used in white weenie decks back in the early days Comment from : @danrichards9516 |
I wonder why Summer Magic wasn't included as the step above Alpha? Significantly rarer, a fair bit more expensive, and still sold in booster packs Comment from : @apeofjustice7109 |
I love Remora and feel like it is a top 10 flavour/mechanic ludonarrative resonance (flavor win?) as well as just being a good cardbrbrSame for Chain Lightning Comment from : @lachlank8270 |
They should bring back the middle east as a plane in magic the gathering Comment from : @jameswinslow8540 |
Doc thank you for all your hard work I genuinely appreciate all you do Comment from : @germanyjones2700 |
Do you have a top lisf for each set? Comment from : @Daddadye |
I used to collect Lotus Petal when they were bulk-ish commons I had over a hundred of them at one point Alas, they are all long gone Comment from : @jenniferwilliams9612 |
I like these price list videos! These are a fun take on Magic occasionally If I could make a suggestion, I would include a date or date range when the listed price was recorded, just for context in the future All things considered, these are fun videos! Keep them up! Comment from : @jenniferwilliams9612 |
bMe playing reanimator : Still hoping reprint to lotus and dark ritual at common with the normal card frame, not the warhammer one/b Comment from : @unpassantquipasse8268 |
including original versions makes this list utterly pointless, the cheapest printing would have been infinitely more interesting Comment from : @FlourescentPotato |
Why does Snuff Out grows Death's Shadow? I dont understand it I pay 4 life and Death Shadow loses -4 / -4? Thanks for explaining Comment from : @vincevegas222 |
Good stuff! Comment from : @blakmajk369 |
Also for what it’s worth, Jumpstart 2022 has the Urza lands too Comment from : @MrZer093 |
To think, we make Lotus Petals as tokens all the time in Standard now Comment from : @ultratog1028 |
