Good points but as someone who's been doing commissions AND also been commissioning others for a while, the "no one wants your sketch" bit is bad advice tbh I almost ALWAYS look to commission sketches/affordable options if i want a lot of art of a specific oc for example And a huge chunk of the commissions I've done for others have been sketches!

Honestly I completely disagree with the point you make several times throughout the video in which „commissioners want a full piece, not a sketch” I think it largely depends on what you consider a sketch For me personally, my sketch tier is the most popular because it lets people have a piece from me for a really reasonable price without much pressure on me

I have to disagree with a couple of thingsbrbr1 Sketches You can actually make very beautiful sketches as long as you practice, and as long as you are growing your Fanbase, yes, people do want sketches Just a matter of quality at that point So it’s a great time to make sure to brush up your skills behind the scenes if you are not confident with sketches brbr2 Complexity Even if you are just a beginner, if you are going out of your way to practice, you shouldn’t shy away from it so randomly ‘just so clients can afford’ You don’t know their income and it can actually insult them if they found out that’s why you do it Never take away your chances for extra money- as you should because it takes more time, and added bonus, it’s just nice to give a client and your portfolio more flare more often than not brbrShould only turn down things you can’t do, or are really genuinely uncomfortable with if you’re open to commissions Like say if you might be on a tight schedule

If you make/use a paypal account before you turn 18, I HIGHLY recommend making a new one once you turn 18 Paypal can be SUPER strict and has banned people for making accounts underaged even after they turned 18

For the tip 4 part, i actually never thought about it that way I guess it does make sense that adding extra money because something is too detailed can detract customers I feel like the amount of “a lot” can be subjective, and artists should just openly express their concerns and not charge extra just like you implied 🙂
