My daughter is this way Not down syndrome but autistic and mentally delayed to a pretty extreme level Our lives entirely changed and we constantly don't know what to do with her I appreciate this doc, it makes me feel like this is just a normal thing that can happen, which it is I guess it gives me hope that she can have a happy life

This is hard to watch as a neurodivergent person with a math learning disability and other mental health issues I was born in 83, so most of my school years were in the 90s and believe me disability services were not in their prime at that point! But, at least there was something! It makes me wonder how many mildly disabled people battled their inner demons day by day being though of as an "average" student when in fact they had a legitimate reason that they might not have been succeeding in school or even in the adult world after that It seems awfully sad

My brother was born in the mid 60’s and from birth has been severely brain damaged Apparently oxygen deprivation was to blame He’s been a ward of the state ever since Today I learned that he is on life support He had a major heart attack yesterday We decided to remove the breathing tube and let him go peacefully He has the mental ability of a 6 month old His suffering is almost over Breaks my heart!
