Jeweler here You should never scratch a gold coin, the proper way to test it is just to weigh the coin and if it is under a certain amount, it is fake because it is very hard to make fake gold coins with the exact amount of weight of the actual coin But the guy just wants you to see how the business works with gold in a whole i guess
