In my example, I plotting the values per year (in rows) for the various months (in columns) Unfortunately, the rows are not starting with JAN, FEB, MAR but with April, followed by AUG, DEC, FEB which seems to be randombrI've formatted values in the input table as text

It's a neat new feature, and I can see it satisfying some simple use cases with users who don't think to refresh data and don't need the formatting options of pivot tables In other words, a niche feature, but I'm happy to have more tools in the toolbox

Pivot table is just much easier to be honest, the group by function required so much steps that you can easily do in few steps in PVT

I still use pivot tables, some are linked to multiple sources too but this group by on the template you provided just gives me #NAME? as an answer I'm a monthly subscribed user on the latest updated version so I dont get why its not working Guess this monthly payments to MS is a waste of money if the latest and greatest stuff is not available lol

Doesn't look superior to pivot tables to be honest You have to write entire formula to get same results you can have with few clicks I might've missed something but the only difference I noticed are live updates vs clicking "refresh" Maybe I'll change my mind if I play with it a bit but right now I'm sceptical

Pivot tables are static once laid out and will not be affected by other formulas in the workbook so with a very large table and other calculations involved, I wonder how GROUPBY can affect performance

You can refresh pivot table, by clicking right mouse button-> refreshbrThis GROUPBY formula is ok but it gives no drill down opportunity, you will need to rewrite it again and again, also you cannot place some fields on rows, other on columnsFrom my perspective, if i need to query aggregate from source i'd better use SUMPRODUCT

think about it, you can actually right click on the pivot table and refresh, no need to make it so hard by finding the option from the header, consider the time you need to rewrite the code each time, it's so lame just by looking at it i became disappointed, when you intentionally bypassed the easy way
