Hi! How do you finish the ends after you sew a straight line? Are you supposed to tie it by hand? Or does the machine do it? I’ve been practicing sewing straights but the ends keep coming apart Please help! Thank you!

Also, is there a certain way out direction the bobbin thread and needle thread need to be once the fabric is ready to sew? Bc my mom sewed and i always saw her pull the treads to the left of the presser foot when she put the fabric under, ready to sew Also, no she didn’t teach me to sew, but i also didn’t want to learn them, now i do and she lives in another state 😆
