Sean, I just purchased a commemorative 5 oz silver coin from the Canadian mint I wasn't really paying attention when I ordered it I liked the design so much I just went ahead and ordered it and it didn't really sink in till later that it cost over $60000 dollars! Why on earth would it cost that much? I bought a 10 oz silver bar at the same time and it was only half the price Is the price for the coin high because it is limited edition, only 2k minted? It doesn't even look all that great compared to the picture on the computer I am very disappointed and will think twice before ordering commemorative coins again

In Europe we have VAT It's higher for bars than for coins, so coins are cheaper (per 1 g of metal) brAlso American Silver Eagles are relatively expensive here Personally I buy mostly Noah's Ark coins They are the cheapest, and at re-selling coin dealers offer same money as for ASE

Something to consider is that technically your silver and gold maples have a fiat value stamped on them This differentiiates them from being a 1 oz bar and 1 oz coinie the fiat stamp Why is this a potential issue? Because technically Trudeau can impose draconian rules on your Canadian maple fiat if he takes another crazy pill With a bar he has less influence unless he takes a crazy crazy pill tries to confiscate, tax the crap, or limit mobility of PMs in/out of Canada

Initially I was headache what to do about silver and also deciding whether bar or coin, somehow my understanding comes to a conclusion about silverbrbr1) bar for investment / storage of value / emergency fund br2) coin for barter / trade around community / shopbrbrImagine we rewind back the old day of history how people trade their item with gold and silver , through history we can clearly understand how it works As inflation flying even higher, imagine we use the same logic of trading, we could use one coin or one bar to trade a lot of stuff So , it is critical to understand how we gonna use it

I bought a silver egal for spot price as a promotion for a new user sign up and on the last dip in spot price when I bought gold the discount was 1499 on the silver egal when it was spot 2480 so a 15 dollar premium is ridiculous so I won't buy anymore silver egales until they set the premiums strait thanks Sean!

I avoid silver bars because resale performance is terrible in my country 10g and 20g gold bars are a better option here, because resale value is as good as full ounce coins I avoid bigger bars because it is more complicated to detect counterfeits, and of course I don't want to spend several years to buy a kilo bar
