That's true, learning different languages is like sending your brain to a gym lol But it's too bad, I don't think that I'm quite talented in learning languages, I've already given up on learning Spanish as the grammar rules are way tooooooo complicated for me So far, I feel I'm only entirely fluent in my first language, but I've been working hard on my ‘medium’ English

The video says second language is used in more rational discussion as it is often learned in school and university In my case, it is true as I use English for academic purpose in universities for my BA, MA education in Australia and USA while my native Thai is used for daily interaction with my family Even now when I retire, English is used in comments in Youtube regularly

I realized this ages ago I'm a British retiree living in France, and speak pretty good French, although I'm not really bilingual I'm 73, and have long suspected that having to speak a language that isn't my own on a regular basis was a huge benefit at my age Good exercise for the old brain!

Very sloppy definition of bilingual There is a huge difference between children brought up by two native speakers of two different languages and people who learn another language in an academic environment or acquire it through life experience Pretty obvious grappling with two languages is good exercise for the brain Nobody even mentions the crucial link between language and culture, so monolingual people remain in their cultural bubble, while speakers of two languages can understand and compare the two different cultures

Can somebody explain?
