My cousin who works with TPS told me 2 reasons why he doesn't live in Toronto Reason 1 is because of police safety, he doesn't want to reside in the city he does police work because there's that off-chance he would be recognized from someone he encountered during his hours of operations Reason 2, it's unaffordable despite his great salary He'd need to save for so many years to make enough for a down payment for a home in Toronto There's also legal fees you'd have to pay for when buying a home and the property tax too
