I was all in after the first two minutes of this one Holy smokes That's God's country you're shooting in, and God's pistol you're shooting brI became a Springfield owner when I bought my very first 1911 15 years ago That was a Parkerized Loaded A few years later, an MC Operator (a green/black Loaded w/ half-rail) For the next 11 or 12 years, the scarcity of TRP and their rare appearances in the southern California market never aligned w/ my wallet until 2024 brbrLast spring I got a text from a good friend telling me about the latest UPS drop at his buddy's shop 40 miles away and in it was a stainless non-rail TRP Crap I wanted blue (rather, black Armorykote) Oh well, they don't come up often! and my wallet is ready for once! Bingo Mine! Six weeks later, another text and another TRP hits the store inventory This one's black BINGO MINE lmao I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough brbrThe Wessons, the Ed Browns, the Baers never seen one for under $2K out here in my neck o' the wo0ds I am proud and I feel fortunate to now own two TRP (and for the price of one Professional) I may never shoot up to these pistols but I will go on living trying to Cheers! and thanks for a terrific presentation, here

I thoughtbrWell, it was REALLY bad Couldn't even get through a magazine without a malfunction and numerous kinds of malfunctions bIt actually caught a spent case in the ejection port LENGTHWISE/b No one I know has ever seen that happen beforebrSo, I spent $380 on Wilson series 70 parts, and the gun has been worked on by 2 gunsmiths Right now, it's MAYBE 95 reliable Back at the gunsmith because the extractor is still giving me issuesbrI have over $1600 and counting in a $500 pistol and after 6 months I'm still not shooting it! Buy once, cry once boys and girls

So Springfield isn’t the actual first company to make a dedicated pistol for the HRT The was an RFP that was put out & how it was written called for a steel framed pistol that would accept a double stack magazine Several companies submitted samples for the contract which was awarded to Les Baer Les read the RFP & submitted his samples made from Para-Ordinace P-14 pistol frames Springfield ended up getting the contract for the regional FBI SWAT teams as I recollect correctly After that contract was filled the FBI decided to stop using the Baer Custom P-14 pistols essentially because of, as I understand from what I read, the slide to frame fit was too tight, causing some stoppages My guess on the stoppages is that was from poor firearms maintenance

Never been a handgun guy before, but I needed a bear defense gun for backcountry camping in Grizzley country and its hard to pack a rifle/shotgun on a motorcycle and hike with it lmao My grandfather won a war and had multiple confirmed kills with his 1911 so I decided I needed an American made 10mm 1911 and grabbed a Kimber Custom II I know you, he, and god are probably upset it’s not 45acp, but now I’m addicted so that will be coming soon enough 😅🤷‍♂️ although a 9mm is probably next just because it would be SO much cheaper to shoot haha

I wish I would pay over 800 bucks for a 1911 pistol I mean come on man, while in the army we shot 1911 pistols all day and they worked fine with some of them being over 45 years old I have a Tisas B45 model and it cost me $536 dollars and it runs all day using several different magazines and FMJ for the most part even tho I have some hollow points in it as well No failure to feed or eject after 1200 rounds with cleaning and oiling

Had a TRP non rail in black with a Recover Tactical grip to allow for a rail Unfortunately had to sell it to pay some bills but it was hands down the best handgun ive ever had, ill get another one some day 😍

@14:30 (ish) I don't necessarily agree with the magazine footwell I learned how to shoot on a very early generation 1911 (pre handgrip angle change) and kinda got used to dealing with the little to no grasp area by adjusting my finger position to the tab downward with my pinky as I depress the magazine release in a foot flicking motion to eject the magazine But it's symmantics, and can see you point of view too as for the 20 LPI grips I bet noone complains when it's covered in mud or worse

PRO TIP: (1) buy the cheapest 1911 you can (tisas/rock island) as long as the frame is FORGED & it's compatible with series 70 internal components (2) buy the most elite 70's series components (triggers, mainspring housing parts, bushings, double recoil springs, etc) and have them installed by a professional gun smith if you can't DIY (3) run Wilson combat mags exclusively You'll have a pistol that will perform as well as any custom job AND save you money AND is a one of a kind configuration!
