Never run a “cutter or reamer” backwards Just for you beginners Comment from : @terryburner1511 |
I went to s;leep at 4:35 Comment from : @richardtravers8772 |
Thanks Comment from : @richardkut3976 |
I couldn't take watching it anymore You took more material off to burning the inside and the outside of that case more than you trimmed it for god sakes don't be so rough with your brass slight break Edge is all you need Comment from : @caseykelso1 |
That it is a good trimmer, but takes too much time Specially, you have thousands of shell to trim you will need a faster machine do three in one Comment from : @badboytommy187 |
Prices have gone up a little in the last 10 years, and parts are getting hard to find, although Amazon is a pretty good source I'm buying the dies for every caliber I shoot, and I'll probably get a backup cutter too Comment from : @r1pbuck |
Did all of the cutters come with it or are they sold separately? Comment from : @Mr1bigsexy |
Much better video than the lee video Comment from : @butchgeagan9768 |
Does this only work on a single stage press ? Comment from : @genereed3029 |
I like my Zip trim Not gonna change now Comment from : @reloadnorth7722 |
You didn't say or show how you make sure case length is correct Comment from : @ipscone |
no cleanup? chamfer the throat? Comment from : @jeffsweeten3270 |
Lee has some great products but I can't see doing a thousand like this Good presentation, thanks Comment from : @tires2burn |
Another added bonus to the Lee Quick Trim system: say you got ahead of yourself and made the mistake of priming your cases BEFORE you checked the length and they exceed the max of 1760"? What to do??? Well, with the older Lee system with the primer pocket pilot method, you'd have to somehow SAFELY deprime all your cases, wasting precious components that are very hard to come by-RIGHT NOW (09/20)!!! With the Quick Trim, you CAN trim PRIMED cases safely-although I'd be very careful not to leave any shavings in the case that might block the primer hole Don't ask HOW I know this Let's just say, I have a friend Comment from : @jiujitsuforall8627 |
What keeps the shell from spinning in the shell holder Comment from : @tommcqueen3145 |
Thanks a great idea cutting down 9mm Luger to 9x18 for macarov as these can be hard to get I imaginethese are great little press kit I used the exact same one in the 80s, and have just got myself the 50th anniversary kit superb never had a problem with the lee equipment Comment from : @TheYjmfan |
will this work on a load master if you take the powder and seating dies out Comment from : @jimthompson8108 |
Another video displaying improper setting of bushing Lee Precision says that the bushing is to be set beyond the cut out The cut out is for taking the bushing in and out of press It amazes me how many videos on youtube misinform people and or fail to give proper instructions I guess nowadays people are more concerned about being seen on video than the quality of the content No surprise This guy must be a millenial Look at me! LOL Comment from : @vincef5832 |
Can you use this on a lee hand reloader Comment from : @AusFeral23 |
Cheap crap Comment from : @mikebagnallshooting9818 |
I'm looking at the classic cast vs your breech lock classic cast for precision loading but I'm worried about play in the breech system At minute 4:46 when the ram touches the die I can see upward movement in the breech/die assembly and that makes the (Redding Big Boss) people swearing that you need a solid die-press connection smile What's your experience with both of them for precision? How badly does the breech system move while pressure is exerted from underneath? Thank you Comment from : @mariuso4879 |
How is it adjusted to the correct length? Comment from : @dl1oli |
Bought one a few years ago Never could get the burrs to clean up and the length was not consistent switched back to the old style lee trimmer and never looked back Probably something I was doing wrong Always had good service form Lee products Comment from : @winterhorse290 |
So you just pop it in there with no adjustment, and assume it's set correctly And you're also trimming a case before resizing it, which defeats the whole point of trimming Comment from : @ParadigmUnkn0wn |
So let me get this straight, with the lee 223 die that the cutter slides into, and it's all preset, and will always take off the same amount of brass and size it perfectly?brbrAnd should you or shouldn't you do a full case length resize first? Comment from : @Jdmlsturbo |
Thanks for the video I been needing a better way to get a more uniform trim on cases great video Comment from : @MrDeathd |
I think you need to resize first before you trim since firing doesn’t really stretch the brass, but resizing after firing causes it to grow Comment from : @galamonkey |
get one that fits a drill Comment from : @kingstoncowboy01 |
If you have two different chamberings to load for the cost is already at $5300 plus tax May as well buy one of the regular crank trimmers that works on many different cartridges and is adjustable Comment from : @larrymor |
dipshit Comment from : @awd3418 |
will this work in a RCBI press Comment from : @dennyholtz4758 |
But how do you know what length you are cutting it to? Comment from : @DerekRC |
Another gadget to suck a few more $$'s out of your walletIf you process a lot of brass like I do, do yourself a favor and invest in Frankfort Arsenal trim stationNo muss, no fuss Fast, easy and efficientIf you can't afford that, a cordless drill on a manual cutter station will let you zip through 100 cases in 30 minutes or so Comment from : @Fireworxs2012 |
awesome:) Comment from : @jasonchen7342 |
Make sure you clean off case lube, otherwise die gets contaminated and will not grip cases Cases will spin and cutter will just sit on case and not cut brbrI also remove the primer arm on my press and fill the slot with some tissue paper to keep shavings from getting into this area I do this because the shavings were getting into the press body and making hard to raise and lower the ram The little plastic shaving catcher did not prevent this Comment from : @eagleviewhd |
What do you set you size at for 223 Comment from : @kevinokeefe7796 |
I never saw him check the length of the case I know you can adjust the die to get the right case length I use the old style trimmer he show's but chuck it up in a drill press and just slip the case over and hold up very quick and uniform always size first and clean primer pockets first inside and out to get it all uniform Thats just the bench rest shooter in me but I like to be accurate as possible Comment from : @okiegenethefishingmachine9547 |
You put the bushing in the press in the wrong way Turn it clockwise and it's gonna be tighter Comment from : @handlebullshit |
I'm gbrjust getting started with reloading brthis looks like a handy toolbrI will be reloading 223 as wellbrthat's a bit down the road as I am starting with 38 special and 357 magnum brthanks for the video brandbrMERRY CHRISTMAS! Comment from : @tjmooremusic |
The brass should be resized before trimming It will "grow" when resized because you are moving the brass The extra brass goes into the length of the case Comment from : @N5KDA |
I take it that the quick trim dies are caliber specific? Comment from : @thevacuumtubejunky9774 |
I bought one of these for trimming berdan GP11 Swiss brass since I can't use my regular Lee case gauge trimmer This quick trim just doesn't work well for me Every case comes out a different length no matter what I do, it's terribly inconsistent Comment from : @Toolness1 |
thinking of getting this set up for reloading rifle I don't shoot a ton of file but I want to reload 45-70 and it's an expensive round lol reloading will save me $$$ I'd also like to reload 30-06 as well Comment from : @chriskelly509 |
blow the brass in your hair Comment from : @Johnyrocket70 |
why do they call it quick when its hand cranked instead of a power tool Comment from : @Johnyrocket70 |
That trimmer works like crap!brIt just grabs the case and it just spins in the holderbrI had to pull the the powder/sizer die, hold the trimmer and die in my hand and use a drill to spin the case, and that holder needed to be tightened with pliers or it will unscrew, slip off the case and bust your knuckles proper!brAnd I needed a 030 shim to keep the brass from being trimmed way too short Comment from : @archangel20031 |
I'll buy one - but only if you promise to stop blowing into your brass ! Comment from : @xxHydroponicxx |
WOW! I got to get 1 of those I was really close to buying one of those Little Crow Gunwork's trimmers but they are $70 bucks a pop Thanks for the video! Comment from : @Gettysburg2013 |
I've never seen that before Thanks for the info Do you think it can cut about 1/8 inch off to make 44 Special from 44 Magnum-or would that be too much for it? Comment from : @earlbrunner6755 |
How do you know when to stop turning Is there a setting Or is that die used as the gauge Comment from : @mcclinha |
Great video and i'm glad that I am not the only one with the wobbly table Comment from : @ozcampnhuntdan7858 |
Great instructional video Thank you Comment from : @WillBuryU |
does it automatically cut to a certian length? or can you overtrim with this system? Comment from : @cclark8108 |
you didnt explain how you account for the length of the case Comment from : @MindBodySoulOk |
I mean this in the nicest possible way, but you were such a neanderthal for cutting your brass the old way lol That and you were a much better man that I for having that much patience Comment from : @kungfoosquirrel |
I have this trimmer, but how do I know when to stop trimming? Does it just stop cutting when it reaches a certain point? Comment from : @michaell6335 |
Have you had any problems with brass trimmings causing problems with your press? Comment from : @edrem9483 |
Ok now I have to get one of those Comment from : @TheReloaderDude |
You can even adjust case trim length with the plastic collar It has preset detente that can adjust to desired length Think it has ten levels of adjustment It's an awesome tool Getting ready to run 1k or 2k through mine, for 300 blkout My case length should be around 1361 for proper bullet depth Great tool Comment from : @Howardhandupme |
I have reloading dies to reload 223, 30 carbine, and 9mm I wanna get this system for trimming my brass, but should I only get the die bodies for rifle rounds or should I get them for pistol as well? Comment from : @redneckmini14 |
If you trim before full length resizing it defeats the whole purpose Your crimp will not be consistent (tighter or looser) and it will affect accuracy If using a projectile with a cannelure, your seating depth will be erratic to the cannelure, again affecting the crimp Comment from : @daveb9370 |
Don't you need to resize the case before you trim? The case gets longer when you full length resize, and you're using mixed, random brass that will stretch different lengths when you resize Comment from : @TheAnnoDomini |
Thank you The directions for the case trimmer were terrible Now I know how to use it properly Comment from : @enigma6482 |
dat intro #2sik Comment from : @kingsilicon735 |
When initially setting up in your breech lock bushing do you need to adjust the die up or down to get the correct overall length desired after trimming? Comment from : @KoreanOni |
I have the lee three-die kit for 308I was wondering which die should I use for the trimmer or do I have to get another special one? Comment from : @271310104054 |
Did you use any lube between the moving parts? Comment from : @ricktrixter |
Lee just made 3 more of my RCBS tools obsolete lol Comment from : @heavylead1961 |
Good review, sci I prefer the ZipTrim with a 3-Jaw Chuck, however after several hundred trimmed cases, the tip on the Case Guage (the little do-dickey that sticks through the primer hole) begins to mushroom-out (gauge shirinking) due to it spinning/pressing up against the Case Guage stop (on the ZipTrim), causing the subsequent cases to trim to a shorter and shorter length Eventually I will need to replace my Case Guages For me, this is more of a problem with larger cases (30-06, 8x56R, etc) than with smaller cases (223, 65x55, etc) With this mushrooming in mind, the Quick Trim seems to offer a more consistent trim length Though, I see some folks have commented that this is not the case (pun intended) Comment from : @2009VWJETTATDI |
That's bad ass I am definitely with you; The "old way" is bullshit compared to this I tried the Zip Trim, it was okay I've done the drill method using the ball, I've done it purely by hand until my hands cramped And I almost spent $130 on some electric "case prep center" until I saw this Anybody that is okay with chucking pieces into their drill, re-tightening the case holder over and over again after their cases starts wobbling, and performing 3 different steps to prep one case, obviously doesn't load much volume Thanks for the video!!!! Comment from : @loknlode |
I have this and discovered that you need to measure every case I ran it per the instructions and found some of my cases over the maximum case length This trimmer is way better than the hand one that comes with the challenger kit, but I highly recommend you measure your cases after trimming with this Comment from : @eph1973 |
Great review We'd like to send you a product to review Message me at troy@eztrimitcom Comment from : @blackwidowshooterssupply266 |
I'm just getting into reloading and need to know why you'd trim before you re-size & decap Isn't it the re-size that stretches cases? Comment from : @jlukken |
Can you comment on the feasibility of modifying the tool to be powered by a drill? I have contacted Lee and they told me they have no plans to offer a power adapter Comment from : @GunFunZS |
Does this work with the Lee hand press?? Comment from : @alairmore |
perfict timing, i'm just getting into reloading, thanks for the great videos
