Im not more motivated to learrn mandarin than before 1: most of your reasons are true to ANY languages so it does not give me a reason why I should actualky learn one of the worlds hardest labguages And Chinese people are eager to join the West by learning English so they are not as impressed if you take the opportunity from them to practise their english WITH YOU Bd even though it is spoken by a lot of people but not a lot of places in the workd so unless you want to live in china /taiwan, again, theres no point putting all the effort in it😂 I would really want to know YOUR OWN reasons why you keep learning after coovid boredom is over Obviously you need more motivation now which one of the above reasons are your reasons as well? I wishI'm a Chinese language teacher (non-native speaker) and I put a lot of effort into my classes and teaching, sadly the numbers of students have fallen so rapidly that the university is threatening to cut the courses altogether Some of it has to do with the way the other teachers teach it, but even in the first year the numbers are a quarter of what they were ten years ago I spent 30 years learning Chinese and it gave me a lot of enjoyment, but sometimes I regret it as a bad choice

Absolutely correct about how the only way to someone’s heart is with their mother tongue! I learned the Faroese language many years ago when I lived on the islands I would have never been able to truly connect with and understand the people there if I hadn’t put them first at ease by meeting them on their home turf if you will! What opportunities does speaking Chinese open? What are the costs of that opportunity? Chinese expats have practically taken over the export/import business, doing business in China is not worth it nowadays and if Chinese want something from you, they will speak English You can learn 2-3 simpler languages in the same time as Mandarin I see a little point in putting so much effort into a language that is rarely useful outside of China Am I wrong???
