I had a 3/8 Electrum shekel Look for it in CNG Camerata Romeu Collection 3/8 shekel, Carthage or Iberia I love coins from Kyrenaica, the plant in question is SILPHIUM ! It has been found again ! I read it was used to induce abortions, since there was child sacrifice in Carthage and likely Kyrene and other North African cities Lovely stuff I also acquired 2 Kyrene didrachms, looks like a hoard was found recently

I have a few corrections to the video It is surprisingly difficult to unpack and speak in a foreign language, like on the first coin talking about federal coinage, not mentioning that this is the Akarnanian League/Confederacy specificallybrbr3:30 Naumann iirc, not Savoca or Navillebr4:20 This is commonly identified as a griffin, not sphinx The die can be a bit difficult to interpret The reverse is called just a man-headed bull, not a different mythological creature I was thinking aboutbr18:10 The name of the plant is obviously silphiumbr22:25 Not yet the civil war period, mispoke and was thinking the Imperatorial period, though arguably that didn't really kick off either before 49 BCbr27:53 Sold, not mintedbr33:42 Monogram is the word I was thinking aboutbr57:45 Typically described as just 'globe' with interpretations varyingbr58:20 Poinssot is the name
