yesterday was my first time donating and I felt fine but I will say I did not realize how many people donate and I had a conversation with the nurse because of the extensive questions they ask and I'm sure a lot of people are not truthful on them I will say I am glad they asked those questions because you don't want to put your life on the line for a $20 While I was donating a man didn't feel well and the nurses had to jump into action, come to find out he had a heart condition and blood condition (at least that's what the wife screamed out as she was on the machine herself) and they ask you these questions so why would you risk getting on the machine I know most do it for the money, but it is not worth it I pray he was okay I say all that to say this, be truthful, do what they tell you to do and do not donate if you do not feel healthy enough

I just came back from donating plasma I did get very sick and felt like I was going to pass out but I tell you they were so nice and so sweet really helped me out I stayed for a while afterward they wanted to make sure I was ok before I left they never rushed me out the door or anything I do appreciate that they were there for me it can happen sometimes

I "donated" for many years Many times it went well Sometimes I've fainted, especially if you're not well hydrated or doing any exercise, even something like walking It's much worse when it's very HOT outside As long as your eating well, and drinking lots of water, normally, you should be fine The health problems come when some employee sticks you, who really shouldn't You get whats called a hematoma The area around the needle gets very swelled up with your blood Unfortunately there is nothing you can really do to prevent one of the inexperienced employees (who haven't had good training) from giving you a bad hematoma Sadly I've had two so far Just make sure that the person who sticks you, is very good at what they do Thanks

This happens because if you put the needle in wrong it damages the veinsbrAnd this happens quite a bit because people taking your plasma are just normal people who most likely got the job the same day

It's funny how North Vista Hospital says there're 5 stars, though their website says 34 stars Also, depending on your emergency, they may or may not be able to treat you Just hope you're not in a dier need They may need to transfer you for another 20 minutes in an ambulance

Most people have a bad reaction at some point, my first donation I had such a bad reaction I seriously thought I was dying but years later, many donations later, I still have an occasional light-headed, hot flash, nausea etc but it's nothing that doesn't pass in a few minutes She should have eaten/drank better before going in & afterwards! Everyone is told the risks

She signed consent saying she understood the possible outcomes This is comical as a news story… people pass out while donating all the time due to lack of hydration, lack of food in their stomach, anxiety from trying something new and veins too small to hold pressure with a 17g needle… if you need money that badly you should pick up more hours

no stop !!! some of these employees arent equipped to be doing blood draw , for 1 of thier staff stick right thru a young man hand and he been having issues , and this girl hurt me if you feel pan or numbness even with blood flowing through it can mean your vein was puncher thru & need to be alert the staff and have them adjust that needle dont be silent !!!

You have to be hydrated to donate quickly this means water or Gatorlyte etc not caffeinated or carbonated drinks, keep your vitamin up n eat good meal no problems Plasma reduces cholesterol and blood pressure

Ive been donating for years, ive been bruised by inexperienced staff, ive gotren dizzy and the machine stopped so mu blood was not returned to me All warned before hand so I kept going I stay hydrated and never work out after so I dont risk a clot It is what it is The money is easy

In any procedure that lowers blood supply, it is normal for blood pressure to go down For some people, it may go down enough to cause nausea, vomiting, hot flashes, fainting, etc Ask and dialysis patient and they will tell you all about this This patient’s arm looks like she may have been a hard stick which causes bruising, sometimes substantial As a nurse who works with patients who are on dialysis (extremely similar in the ways that count here), what is described by the patient directly are expected potential adverse effects that, when they quickly reverse & patient’s blood pressure rebounds, are not 911-worthy They are that normal and that quickly reversible That’s not to say she didn’t genuinely go through something and yes, the staff fell short here by not educating her up front on what highly possible adverse things can happen when you pull that much blood out If I were to give a strong guess here, she came in more dehydrated than the donation center realized These things happen, unfortunately And she probably signed consents that descibed these situations clearly A nurse should have also explained it in detail so the patient could go into it knowing bruising is likely (also, if she was dehydrated coming in, this explains why she would be a “hard stick” as her veins would be tiny), and the patient would know what symptoms of hypotension to report to prevent passing out

I have just started donating and they require you to answer a ton of questions about your health, give you a physical, check your vitals etc THey always are telling you to drink LOTS OF WATER Before and after to eat specif thing That is at CSL plasma either OCTA is sloppy but CSL is pretty specific and you go through consent after consent after consent It does no good to lie about your health Sure, it may mean you can't make money donating but it's your health

I donated today I have the biggest veins every and visible Well the new staff member stuck me and cause hematoma on first arm Restuck me on other arm I got my full donation In but another hematoma on other arm He said it was his fault over and over Yet , the nurse took me back to her office and said “you have to let people fail sometimes and I wasn’t there” 😅😂those contracts cover their butts Be weary I’m a dietitian and I know how to eat right to help recover It made $900 when I needed it as a new donor Just my advice, if a new kid misses the first arm, ask if another employee can stick your other arm

I had something just like this happen to me today donating in st Clair shores Michigan i was getting hot and started sweating and almost passed out they gave me ice packs and two small Gatorades and waited told me they would walk me to the door when i felt ready and they didi don't have any bruising showing like she did Hopefully i will be finei didn't get all my red cells back because they pulled the needle while i was reacting so im just gonna drink water after watching this
