The bulk of the interest occurs at the front of the mortgage, not the back - it's one reason why refinancing is almost always a bad deal long-term - you're better off accelerating payments and paying sooner than resetting your interest back to start again on the front of the loan

It really depends on your mortgage rate If you have a super low rate (from 2021-2022), don't pay your house off quickly Invest the extra in low cost index funds and you'll come out ahead financially

Really you’re gonna follow her advice? never, ever give extra money to the principal of a home loan or any major loan for that matter, maybe you should take those extra 300 or $310 a month and invest them in a mutual fund that is averaging 12 you accumulate more cash and you can pay off the house in 15 - 18 years and if you ever decide not to pay off the loan, you have cash on hand and you have your equity in the home… I don’t know, I’m just saying…
