Daniel, have you ever thought about having a training course on "Grading your coins"? Something like this: "How to grade your own coins like the Pro's" by: Daniel Course includes 3 LIVE- 90 minute sessions with tests being given after each course By signing up for this course you will receive a 20 coupon off for the book, " Making the grade" You will also receive the best in class, online resources At the end of the courses and tests, you will receive a 20 off coupon to any of my coins brAt least something like this I am new at this but even so, It's probably the biggest problem people have Oh, another course might be "How to price your coins for sale" To be honest, it's so confusing The prices for cones that are eligibily the same grading varies so much brbrI can help you with the invite or artworkbrJohn Comment from : @johnrowlette7430 |

I have trouble reading those grading books, so I don’t know what my coins are worth They need to make a video of how to grade coins To show what each the condition of the coin and tell you what the grade is, that would be more helpful than a book Comment from : @thunderousooner527 |

Do you consider ASE's in original mint packages never handled MS70 or MS69 ? Grading is subjective Using a 7 - 10x magnifier will really impress you with grading I have coin's that are better than PCGS/NGC MS/PF 69 - 70 Why bother with grading Comment from : @michaelvaughn9020 |

Eye appeal is paramount: you've got to have coins that look good Even an MS61 Morgan dollar with a lot of marks can be beautiful if it has cartwheel luster, a strong strike, and is from an early die state Comment from : @jeffw1267 |

I've looked at a lot of coins over the years, and I still refer to the first coin grading book my Dad bought me as a kid just getting started, my 1972 photograde It's served me well, sure the pictures aren't the greatest, but when combined with the written description of a particular coin in a certain grade, that information was invaluable to me at many a coin shop or show growing up If I had a question, or was on the fence about a coin, I had the advantage of asking Dad, Grandpa, or one of my uncles who were generally along when we went to shops, or shows So when I pick up the old photograde, I'm not only refreshing my memory, but it always brings back good memories Comment from : @lindanelson8400 |

Awesome overview of the right literature to have when grading coins yourself The only real thing that will get you to grade coins correctly according to the standards is to get your eyes on TONS of coins, especially those coins you want to specialize in How do you do that? Get a job at a coin shop That's one way Comment from : @mlovmo |
I will pick up that colorized 'making the grade' for sure a short story for you, I took advantage of the ANACS specials (10 bucks a coin) to test my study and skill and did well The goal thereafter is to take the creme of that ANACS submission, and submit for crossover (any numeric grade) to PCGS, and have PCGS grade ANACS, and not so much me So, I have graders, grading other graders 🤠 I don't fear missing on numeric grades, but what is most annoying is missing on details that prevent a numeric grade Comment from : @texasjoe557 |
Oh my goodness the coin world is huge! So many details should keep my family busy for years! We started collecting for history and as it turns out it is going to help our mental acuity aswell! Comment from : @jonsnell1843 |

Making the Grade by Coin Worlds is an awesome reference, I use it frequently! Great video! Comment from : @FlyingDutchmanCoins |

I started out with a standard magnifying glass with a 10x in the lens, a 100 watt lamp, and a Whitman beginners guide to collecting coins, which include the hand drawn images, and descriptions for what makes it that grade Today, I no longer have that book, nor that lamp, but I still shine a bright LED magnifying lens on the coin while looking at the online equivalent to that book I only grade to get a ballpark estimate of their worth or to see if the person I might want to buy some coins from is fairly grading his coins, and I tend to settle for the lower grade if a coin is at one of those borderline grades Most of what I collect, I pull from circulation, and I still consider it more of a hobby than an investment at this time, so I rarely have any coin that would be worth sending out to a third party grading service Comment from : @collectingonthecheap56353 |
