Not sure we got house within one year we came to the UK that means we were in second year of visa and the visa was expiring the next year and got mortgage as well with 5 deposit in most cases nothing is generalizedbank was ready to provide as we have no kids so no dependents no existing loans and excellent credit score same thing with a existing car loan and even savings for 10 deposit my friend could not get it Comment from : @Shivamurthy27

I have a different view in regards to buying property in UK I live in a high rise in London near Canary wharf and I was looking to buy a flat in my building(a 2 bhk for now) I checked on multiple homes available for sale(in my building) and could see that the property rates have not changed significantly from the time it was build(2008) till date Many 2 bhks that were sold at around 450K at that time are listed at around 520K currently ie a appreciation of 70K in 15 years brSay, I go ahead and buy a flat for 520k and deposit 20 ie around 104k and finance rest from bank The EMI that I will pay would be same as rent so that would not make much of a difference on me financially brNow the 104k that I paid from my pocket(not even considering other fee), I can invest in some other asset class and I am pretty confident that in 15years, I can grow it to atleast 280K ie a profit of around 180K(being conservative and considering return of only 7 per year) brbrBuying your own place have attached emotional values but in my opinion if someone is not sure if they want to settle here, please do consider this before deciding on to either buy or rentbrbr**This calculation might not hold true for all properties but it is the case for few areas that I am looking into Comment from : @ankitmaheshwari3412
