been painting cars since 1979 yes better guns make your job a little easier but i have also use the cheap ones to as long as you prep right and know how to wet sand and rub out the car and know how to paint you can get a 9 out of 10

I've been using an $80 Harbor Freight for 3yrs on my race cars, and fellow racers ask me who's painting my cars they look so good lol A decent gun goes a long way, but there's a lot more to putting down a good paint job than just the gun Kind of like thinking a good hammer will make a good carpenter, it helps, but it's just the beginning

Are we just going to ignore the prep work? Painting the quarter and masking the door edge is amateur hour That’s the kind of work that fails in two to three years You should be pulling the doors and weather strips and hitting jambs with clear under the fender It’s this kind of inattention to detail keeps me in business Too bad the owner of that TLX doesn’t know this happened to their car

What are your thoughts on using a short whip and placing the regulator away from the gun a couple feet so it's not bulky on the bottom of the gun, but not so far away as to have an inaccurate pressure at the gun?

I actually use this gun as a clear gun it lays a really smooth clear and it keeps me moving which I like, I use a Matco gun for base for now I paint in a daily basis and they never let me down

As someone who has used almost exclusively HVLP in my short 5 year career, I tried my boss's Sata RP 5500 and holy hell HTE guns spray so much faster Wanted to get myself one but couldn't justify 1,200 for a basecoat gun Gonna try this new Black Widow HTE tomorrow on a damn near full job and am ready to see how well this performs compared to my Tekna

What upper tier brand of paint and clear coat do you use / recommend? What is the average cost? I have a 33 gallon Craftsman compressor rated at 68 @ 40psI / 51 @ 90psI and I noticed that this gun said 35 psI max- will my compressor be enough to paint a complete 1989 Firebird with this gun and compressor combined together?- I ask this question because my compressor says that it is not recommended for automotive spray guns, but I do not understand why if the gun is rated at 35 psI max I have never painted a car before and could certainly use a little advise You have a great channel and videos by the way- thanks for sharing all of this information with us

I wish they made a mini gun I just don’t have a big enough compressor to handle that kind of cfm (Mostly I’m restoring small antiques like old desk fans and such so a mini gun is fine) I just fought a sata mini jet 4400 off marketplace (new in a slightly water damaged box but it’s perfect!)

One thing we do have to mention now a days is , what you’re spraying does matter Wether it’s solvent , 1st gen water or true wet on wet water like Spies Again a good painter that’s experienced with them all will make it work but some guns definitely will atomize certain products better

Duplicating 'factory orange peel' Never thought I would hear that br Another informative Brian review brThe first paint job(Lacquer) I did back in the early 70's was on a 57' Studebaker Hawk using and old garage sale Craftsman gun and a pretty sketchy old small compressor Came out pretty good cuz the customer paid me and gave me another job, but in the mean time I painted my 63' Sting Ray roadster which was a prepping disaster as I used a chemical paint remover and it attacked the factory filler You wouldn't believe how much filler was used on those old Corvette bodies Pounds and pounds of it Took a lot of evenings and weekends to fix that mistake
