Long term care insurance is a rip off Save the money instead My mom bought it and paid for many years She ended up in a wheelchair five years before death and needed in home assistance They refused to pay Said they had no providers in the area They had to pay out of pocket for a home health nurse to come help her with bathing etc three times a week I will never buy LTC insurance

My original retirement plan was to retire at 62, work part-time, and save money However, high prices for everything have severely affected my plan I'm concerned if people who went through the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am having now The stock market is worrying me as my income has decreased, and I fear I won't have enough savings for retirement since I can't contribute as much as before

Almost all comments or advice from so called retirement preparation websites keep talking about the need of longterm care insurance Are they crazy to recommend to pour retirees' hard earned money to the possible of maximum 5 of that possibility? I would rather choose to save money for that and also to amuse that extra money of 95 chance when it doesn't happen No one can prepare every situation

The concept of mini-retirement changed my life I'm no longer waiting for some retirement paradise when I'm 65 It helps to know how to fund the lifestyle You know, making money while you sip that piña colada by the beach does help I wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise

The number 1 thing to know is that the 4 rule is not viable any longer given the economy Better thing to do is generating passive income through investments only advice is not to put all your eggs in one basket brPersonal examples of this, a friend of mine lost almost all of his retirement savings in the Luna crypto saga Personally, I try to split mine between Stocks and Real Estate such that if one is affected, I would not be too affected and that has paid off as I made my first million earlier this year through this method (got the help of a pro though) I also experiment with a couple of other things Hard to imagine what the situation would had been given the times

I knew when I got my first full time job in 1975 that I was going to retire in 2016 It's not a crystal ball, it's 8th grade math I hadn't even purchased my first house yet That came a few months later 1975 was a pretty big year for me First full time job, first house and I got married for the first time later in the year Purchased our second home in 1982 Just like I planned I retired in 2016 at age 62 My wife retired two years later at age 62 We never watched a single video on the subject All we did was plan and use simple math A major part of the plan was to reduce our debt to zero by the time I retired Coming up on the 6 year mark of my retirement and we a yet to draw any money out of your retirement fund Remember it's not rocket science, but there is some math involved
