Even when our money was paper, if someone gave you a $50 or $100 bill, there is a way to check to see if in fact it is counterfeit There use to be little green dots are the bills, ok, all bills, but it was always worth checking the larger bills All you had to do was just peel off one of the green dots If it came off it wasn't counterfeit, so it was ok to take it But man, that was a very long time ago when I worked in retail

i know this was 2 years ago but if you shine a laser through the leaf in the corner it projects the dollar value on the surface also notable, the 50 and 100$ bills supposedly will smell like maple syrup if you scratch the leaf sorta like a scratch and sniff sticker

The dime depicts the Bluenose, a fairly famous ship in our history You can look it up I just found one that has the ocean coloured in shades of blue We’ve had several coins with colour added, the most seen one being the red poppies around Remembrance Day (November 11 every year) As far as special issue quarters, we’ve had them for the last two olympics we’ve hosted, with multiple versions each time Other important occasions are sometimes marked with special issue coins as well And the gentleman called it: the animal on the regular quarter isn’t a moose Caribou it is brbrAs far as people depicted, you’ve seen some of them, but the current head of state is always depicted on the reverse side of all our coins For over 70 years, that has been Queen Elizabeth II

Our money was redesigned to make it more efficient as well The one and two dollar Coins last longer than the paper bills, so more cost saving for the country, same with the new bills, they are hard to destroy, very hardy so last longer

10 cent dime has a boat called the Bluenose, the quarter has the Cariboo (NOT the moose) The toonie has a polar bear on it The one dollar bill and two dollar bill don't print and more You can end up with a 50 cent piece, but it is rarely used

If you look really closely, the lines and dots on the bills are actually words and numbers Special coins available at the Canada Post shops, they have pictures on them and sometimes lenticular images (tilt right/summer, tilt left/winter) or even glow in the dark details

My family used to visit parts of the Eastern States every year We have family and friends in various places (we don't usually call it America) I would collect US coins from my change during the year and give it to our kids to spend when we got there Americans seem to be well known for using US coins at par here in Canada One year we had almost $100 in changethe kids were thrilled

I know this is an older video but I once heard that our Canadian mint makes money or designs money for other countries cause we're good at making good looking stuffbrUnfortunately we dont have a choice in bills vs count cause they dont make bills anymore I work in a drugstore and we once in a while receive a 1$ or 2$ bill but not often We sometimes get the old paper $50 or $100 and it makes me sad that people have to spend them cause times are hard or if they inherited a money collection and weren't smart enough to keep it or again were forced to
