I have always liked shimano over daiwaBought a couple of daiwa exceller lt a couple of years ago and i think the daiwa has caught up to shimanoThe daiwa is an once or so ligher than the same size shimanoThe daiwas also hold more line than the shimanosBut i will say i have shimano reels that are over 20 yrs old and still working good today Comment from : @randyferreira5265 |

I have 3 Nascis They’re great durable reels Drag is smooth Certainly isn’t a stradic by any stretch But for 100 dollars They make great general use combo reels I have 2 paired with shimano clarus rods and they’re awesome We bass fish during the spring summer fall and winter and also do some walleye fishing in the cooler months They have stood up to everything They’re still buttery smooth I haven’t used the exceler But I chose the shimano over the exceler just based on my prior experience with my other shimano reels Comment from : @15trucklt83 |

Some of the reels I have fished with and still have in great working condition are a DAM Quick and Mitchell 400 and 300 I have a number of Shimano and Diawa reels I have used the Exceler reels fishing from a boat in saltwater near the Southport, Bald Head Island area for a few years now, and they still work as new Big Shimano fan, but the Exceler is the best buy of them all Comment from : @SandbaggerJoe |
Bought a Shimano Catana 2500 for like 30 dollars Lasted me over 10 years Comment from : @marikupangpang5689 |

Does the little switch at the bottom of the real on the diawa really matter I see it on a bunch of beginner reels Comment from : @NoahFargo-l3d |

I had the cheap penn pursuit reels last 5 years And yes they are heavy and not the smoothest But they withstand the Florida beach and pier tests I got Diawa Bg and it made wired noises immediately after surf fishing a few days in a row If you’re tuff on your gear and want it to last Penn is the way to go Comment from : @chrismartinez-qe8wj |

I own an exeler, fuego, saltist back bay, and two fierce reels, brI killed my first fuego in six months of surf fishing,(didn’t spray it out once!) but I don’t even blink at the fierce reels ! If it is salted up spay out with wd40 and penn grease everything at every spot! Right back to rough out of the box! That is the best reel for 100$brBut the saltist reels are smooth forever ! Like a better fuego!brAnd yeah I’m hard on everything! But I love it! Comment from : @johnloftus4561 |
Since these reels can be used in salt water, you might of gone over how they are with water intrusion I know the Nasci is sealed (hence the higher start-up force) But, what about the other 2? Comment from : @ricksweetser1683 |
I wonder how the okuma ceymar hd or inspira reels compare to this Comment from : @joelsam2606 |
Thanks for the good videobr I wonder what a side-by-side break down and see all of the internals would reveal? It would be nice to see the size of the bearings, what type of material the gears are made of, how thick all the pieces are, and what is best for saltwaterbr Do you do those types of comparisons? How th daiwa bg didnt make it is beyond me Comment from : @mikemike9093 |

the answer is u r better off spending a bit more for a ballistic a stradic or a vanford 100 dollars was a nice pricepoint in the 90's Comment from : @larsvegas1505 |
Maintenance wise I'll take nasci all daybrEven against ultegra, stradic and above Comment from : @dustycustomlures |
Definitely daiwa Comment from : @RalphGabutan |
The exceller is a freshwater reel, not really comparable with these The daiwa fuego is a better comparison to these Comment from : @Rodentfisherman |
I’m not the biggest fan of the anti-reverse switch for saltwater fishing I fish a little bit from the beach and flats—the chances of sand or ocean spray getting in the reel increases and I don’t like that additional entry area My Okuma reel topped over onto sand for a brief moment but the moment I picked it up and reeled, it had already entered the gears I’ve done that by accident with my Nasci and Penn stuff and haven’t had that issue Comment from : @ely410 |
You didn’t give Penn a fair shake All you stated was that it had an all metal body and durable No other specs? Comment from : @conspicuousART |
Dude I watched this video, went out and got the diawa Terrible decision The handle clicks Seems nice and light Cast smooth and retrieve But the black handle part clicks after 20 days of fishing Anoying Comment from : @BSobby |
I chose the Nasci brThe Exceler 3000 was on sale for $75, the Nasci was $92 brThe reason I went with the Nasci it just felt solid quality brThe Exceler was lighter, which I really liked brBut the Reverse switch was a turn off for me and it felt cheaply made (Could be because it was 1 oz lighter)brBut after comparing both side by side? I ended up walking out with the more expensive Nasci Comment from : @toku58 |
I have the nasci 3000 and changed the drag discs to carbon for £10 game changer super smooth 👍👍👌👌 Comment from : @waynefrederick7869 |

Just got the nasci 2500 and you really cant go wrong with it I know its a bait caster but also have the curado dc and it feels just as smooth Comment from : @thomasjohnson7149 |

The exceler isn’t magsealed though Comment from : @donovansmith8686 |

Which is better between the nasci and the fuego Comment from : @civic30045 |
Now can you tell me how big you think the difference is between the Exceler and the Shimano Stradic? Is there a noticeable difference to warrant the Stradic over the Exceler? Thanks :) Comment from : @haynes7458 |
read alan hawk ratings nasci is rated best between these reels Comment from : @mortsims |
What you said about the mid range reel being a better value than the top shelf models? Yeah Kinda Like if you buy a jdm shimano stradic it'll run you around 160 dollars No warranty Spend 15 dollars and you can buy a couple parts and replace the stock parts in the stradic and once reassembled you've upgraded it (for all intents and purposes) to a stella internally brbrIt's like a stock zebco 33, buy a single pack of bearings, swap out the stock bushings for tge bearings and internally it's a zebco platinum The only difference is the platinum has an all aluminum frame while the zebco 33 is graphite which makes it much lighter We call it super tuning I do it to every zebco 33 i give to a kid brbrI'm all about supertuning reels It's fun and brings performance to a much higher level than was designed brbrI just wish they made reels easier to maintain just so that supertuning is easier Also, that would pretty much render their warranties useless because it'd be so much easier to fix a reel yourself I think lew's is excellent in that area Comment from : @StingofTruth |
Yo you didn’t show the specs on the Penn Comment from : @wcmacster |
I put my hands on a handful of reels the other day and i didn’t like the feel of these reels I also don’t like the thin bail wire TBH I really like the pfluegar president and I really liked the Lews KVD Comment from : @bdcfu |

How whould the exceler hold up in saltwater? Comment from : @ΓΙΆΝΝΗΣΤΣΕΡΩΝΗΣ-υ1ψ |

How does the sahara fj compare to the nasci? I am between those two and sadly the newer daiwa reels dont exist in my country Comment from : @CrcrcrcrCrcrcrcr |
I would go Nasci Core protect gives good water resistance Exceler would be good but Daiwa spare parts in Australia are an issue The Penn would be good if the extra weight did not both you Comment from : @davidlove7825 |
If You're a weirdo like me who likes to use 20 or 30 lb fluoro to braid line go with diawa Shimano always makes a narrow choke point between the line roller and the bale Makes it so you're connecting not gets caught But if you know that with that real you're always going to you 15 and below line I would say Shimano is a little better I just like having the option Comment from : @iLearnt-IT-on-You-Tubes |
The best is ultegra It's similar to stradic Comment from : @jeffnaval4894 |
The 10lbs PowerPro is 15 in diameter while the 15lbs J Braid is 019 in diameter, not 19 The J Braid is higher strength but thinner Comment from : @mrfilamfishing |

I am kayak fisherman in South Africa Looking fir the most durable toughest spinning reel that would best survive in harsh saltwater conditions… what woud be your pick in the $100 range? Comment from : @bigg6080 |
hi bro can u pick one for me nasci or exceler? Comment from : @janmichaelsuarez2996 |
Appreciate your videos, very informativeso quick question, in the Daiwa line its really tough to figure out differences, which one between Regal LT vs Exceler LT? Use is a all rounder in Michigan and some Florida, thank you!! Comment from : @marcusWKG |
The Nasci is sealed while the Exceler is not That was the deciding factor at least for me Comment from : @TheBoneruner |
I switched from Shimano to Daiwa a long ago Shimano reels are usually heavier and always had heavier start up inertia Exceler is a great reel Comment from : @dm9103 |
I have not found anything yet that beats a daiwa BG for quality and value at that price point Smooth and powerful if not a little heavy but will not flex under heavy load Still an easy real to maintain yourself I have the 3000 and 3500 The 3500 is as beast I also own a Shimano stradic 4000 Sixty bucks more than the daiwa but a work of art The downside is if you do your own maintainence this real will be very intricate with a lot of small parts Just a note if you fish in salt check the line roller bearing Mine had corrosion starting after half a season My last reel is my most expensive and wish I didn't buy it A penn clash 2 in 3000 size It's one of those reels that felt real smooth in the store but didn't come close to the daiwa and Shimano jigging all day i use this real for throwing out bait and putting the pole in a sand spike Comment from : @rontruocchio5744 |
Is the Shimano Vanford worth it? Comment from : @karnivorouskirby2062 |

The exceller better than the fuego? Comment from : @EMILNOVEL0 |
Exceler is a gorgeous reel! Was in a fishing store Niagara On and asked to try it out and wow! Smooth, light and great feel Spec's are excellent too! $99 Can I didn't buy it though, but might go back for it tomorrow Comment from : @lv2keepfit493 |

Just got the Exceler on sale for $60 Super excited to put it through its paces Comment from : @DuallDude |
Daiwa Exceller is great You can find from $75-90 Thing just looks like you should catch fish Comment from : @Dolbee49277 |
can i use penn fierce for bass fishing ( like lures?) Comment from : @luissortorosales9009 |
So shimano nasci is 99 stradic is 179 to 199, so 100 dollar difference Comment from : @joekassay6650 |
Is it better than the Fuego? Comment from : @Peeler86 |
Love the Daiwa Sadly this one doesn’t have any mag seal for using saltwater 😭 Comment from : @vsonic86 |
I paid $70 for my Fierce IV and it was on a Penn rod I paid $90 for my Battle III and I would chose it over the other two Thanks for info Comment from : @DerylSmith-qh7no |
The fierce iv is just an aluminum pursuit iv that costs twice as much, I would skip it and get a battle iii or a spin fisher vi since they are on sale I got a Daiwa Fuego for a rod I built to try out, and I’ll admit I love it, I absolutely love it, and I’m a penn guy Penn pursuits are my secrete weapon, same drag, bearings and gears as the fierce, and you can get them for for less than $50 for a 4000 Comment from : @chuckfinley3152 |
I’ll stick to my fuego or legalis! Daiwa baby Comment from : @Nobodybaby78 |
the LT has an antireverse switch still which by default should take a few points off Comment from : @WhiteGhost21 |
The Nasci is great, but for less the money, I prefer the Sahara over the nasci; it may have less ball bearings counts but it performs as great as the nasci comparability, plus if you fish saltwater environment bushing a bit better than bearing because it doesn’t rust I still have my old 2012 Sahara and that thing still works fine with minimal issue On top of that any reel will last; all you needs is just with a little love and cares doesn’t matter the price point Comment from : @leepao6302 |
I own a new 2023 Shimano Vanquish, 2023 Shimano Stradic FM, and a Shimano Nasci Three very different price points but all three are great reels I use all three for inshore saltwater fishing and I love all three of them I don't know that I can truthfully justify the 4x price of the Vanquish over the Nasci but I really wanted a high end reel just because Comment from : @tag_76 |
I think daiwa reels up to 100 dollars are unbeatable, especially for UL I have Legalis 2000, 2500 and Fuego 2000 Very light reels and smooth, without resistance and inertia when winding In the more expensive segment, Shimano is a little better, it depends on which price rangebr Comment from : @ivanvedris9636 |
👌 Comment from : @fishmaniachannel |
You didn't talk about the premium cold forged aluminum main gear (same as the Stella) that you get in the Nasci The Fierce uses a cheap zinc alloy as far as i'm concerned and knowing Daiwa they probably also went down the zinc route for the Exceler For that reason alone Nasci for the win, no brainer Comment from : @deshnaidoo2558 |
Great comparison! The new Exceler is a big step up from the previous 2017 version, Shimano needs to catch up now Comment from : @TTangOutdoors |
One thing to note is that the exceler is not rated for saltwater fishing but the nasci is!! If the exceler was saltwater rated i would choose it any day over the nasci :) Comment from : @FishNLuresCY |
Picked up a Daiwa exceller and I love it! Comment from : @aaronlopez388 |
I am new in fishing, do fresh water fishing Recently upgrade my setups After seeing many videos and suggestions i end with daiwa phantom power 8ft rod and Daiwa bg 3000 Comment from : @Azizur84 |
I actually agree with 99 of this video great review over all brbrI would personally go with the nasci over the daiwa I bought my kids the nasci and was messing with it and got a 34" redfish with it and handled like a dreambrThrowing arties all day too i dont notcie the difference between the nasic and the daiwa my buddy got his kid Its not this model daiwa i believe it was the next step up The cheaper daiwas and the lt model daiwas don't seem to have the build quality of Penn and Shimano Just from my own experience and opinion Comment from : @artificialslinger9730 |
Will you do a $200 spinning reel round 2? I can’t decide between the new stradic or bg mq 🤪 Comment from : @colesheehan9929 |
Fuego is also a solid reel at that price point Out of the shimano reels, the Sedona, sahara, nasci, miravel, and ultegra are all somewhat similar too with them being within $20 or so of each other I wish they had a couple more reels in between the ultegra and the stradic/vanford tho Comment from : @Rpark1214 |
Diawa Feugo is best Comment from : @kmilesSC |
