recognised all of these words as I learnt traditional Chinese (and did writing) a long time ago The only thing that is different is that I use the Cantonese intonation, not Mandarin and as I found not all language applications can pick up the intonation I use

I really enjoyed this video I studied Putonghua (Mandarin) back in the 80s and started traveling to China in the 90s Being able to speak a modest amount of Putonghua really provided me with experiences and opportunities I would not have enjoyed It changed my life Most notably, a friend of eight years introduced me to her best friend That's how I met my wife I currently struggle with Guangdonghua and learning characters Your video provided me with a different perspective on chinese characters that I was unaware of Thank you for the light bulb moment

An interesting fact is that the hieroglyphics of ancient Egypt also have a structure similar to that of Chinese phono-semantic characters Champollion, who deciphered the ancient Egyptian characters, once learned Chinese characters, which played a positive role in his deciphering of the ancient Egyptian characters

I used to learn mandarin and watching lots of Chinese films and drama helps in picking up new words quickly However, my difficulty is in intonation? brIn my mind, I thought I pronounced them correctly but my Chinese friends told me no with the occasional correct ones Luckily, they do understand what I'm trying to convey as they're not too particular and will correct me I think I might be tone deaf 😅 I'm starting again soon and will need to brush up on my writings

I don't understand how they can type text so quickly when someone dictates words, for example at school or at work Latin type is about 10x faster

no radicals are not randoms, radicals are used in top, left or around to categorize characters, the other part to differentiate names in the category, and/or for pronunciation

Not all Chinese characters work in a managed way One example is 襄 The meaning of the mess in the middle was already lost 3k yrs ago in Zhou dynasty Ppl just guessed and used a lot of elements to replace the original unknown mystery parts, but the new guess that has been used till today is still not meaningful Ppl just drawed multiple lines & squares to denote that there was a lot of things
