Just invest the cost of the panels and battery into the top ten companies by way of shares , you'll get monthly dividends and your investments will increase yearly ,it will easily cover your electric costs and your shares will be worth more in time unlike your battery and panels that will eventually die and be worthless

My rule is if I'm exporting to the grid it's bad Because I'll be buying that energy back at a much higher rate in the evening

The decision to have solar panels or batteries should be made entirely independently of each other, otherwise you will never know which one or the other is giving what proportion of the financial benefit I have solar panels and they do give a worthwhile benefit, however I have looked into batteries as a completely separate second stage initiative, and they are much more difficult to justify financially Especially when you consider the alternative use of your money being a fixed term savings deposit now paying anything up to 5 pa Also for heat pump owners such as myself the new Octopus "Cosy" tariff is a game changer, giving up to £500 annual saving, and making a battery completely non-viable, for me anyway

If you already have an EV could you not use the large battery on that instead of purchasing expensive additional batteries installed in the house? I believe (but have not actually read anything firm) that this technology is already available?

You need to have a pretty good solar PV system to charge the battery bor/b a tariff which has an off peak ratebrIn the UK most PV installs will produce only 25 of what their summer generation in winter

You simply cannot say it 'saves' you money when you don't provide any data at all on capital expenditure and savings made Did you, for example, factor in that you're losing £400 a year on loss of interest on the capital investment for every £10,000 you spend? I have still yet to see anyone on YouTube provide a full cost & savings analysis of a solar array! Figures are glossed over, and incomplete data provides nothing to evaluate the projects It's like there's a conspiracy of silence!

Yet another video of no mention of actual costs for sonar panels, fitting, house insurance (my neighbours house insurance has gone up due to installation of panels), wiring, gizmo boxes and of course a LIP battery So I thought I’d add my official estimate for a 3 bedroom Ex-council house at latitude 56°N Solar panels 6k (cheapest) Battery 6k (mid range) Total cost £12k Total estimated cost saving from the sales guy? £524 per annum That would take 23 years to pay back at todays leccy prices Just in time to install new solar panels And of course don’t forget the cost of new batteries in 14 years time

Great video I don't own an EV but will be getting a 5kw panel array with a 96kwh battery in March I'm expecting my energy bills to all but vanish from May till early October every year

Thanks for this We’re awaiting installation of a 4kw system with 95kw/h battery Unfortunately our car charger does not integrate easily with solar like something like Zappi does

Hi, great video, I'm also a high consumer of electricity, so good to see what the savings are I'm also on Octopus Go, and just wanted to ask "How do you get the peak and off-peak breakdown on a month by month basis?" Octopus gives me bills mid month and its difficult to work out, just thought you might have a better solution? thanks
